I do not believe this happened. Ray always takes into heart his music especially when he performs in a concert. I have seen his video of this concert and he never played this awful. this is post-ironic humor. It is well understood that Hilary Hahn is an exceptional musician of high caliber. A video with an incorrect title, along with clearly edited audio to make her sound less than stellar is meant to not only subvert expectations, but seeing the mismatched audience response celebrate a clearly bad sounding performance adds to the comedy. Also, in a weird way, many of us can relate to having a bad performance, so watching Hilary Hahn "play" this way becomes a sort of surrogate for us, giving us permission to laugh at ourselves to alleviate and come to terms with our humanity in a way that is healthy. I hope that explains it
