These apps know it's very insecure and unsafe and it's only a matter of time before an American traveler sues Uber for knowingly sending undocumented, non-app approved drivers to pick up airport rides. Uber is not stupid, and they know their tech is being used this way. They are responsible for it. Tort law. Antitrust law. Civil law. And even criminal law with regards to wire fraud and stolen identities and insecure systems that are holding people's home addresses and work addresses - but people not even approved to be on the system have access to this information.

They're doing something with knowing how to reallocate a ride. They have people inside Uber, I'm telling ya. Ms Tee out in DC was saying how she would experience the same thing, and found that they were sending rides to foreigners by pulling them from her phone - and she's an upgraded vehicle driver who knows the airports out here VERY well!

Im all about my private folks and getting the real money first. These $0.80/mile app rides are a joke when we got real money out here to be made.

Yup. I'm guaranteeing it was someone wanting a free ride that cost them too much to begin with, and they were late on rent for the month. So, they pick on a driver that has nothing to do with them not having money and report him - all to get free rides. They do this shit all the time. That's why private rides are the key. The moment I get deactivated, I'm gonna do NOTHING BUT CONTENT on how I'm doing rides without an app. Once I open that game COMPLETELY UP, these apps will have hell with drivers learning how to get paid when a driver has no other option.

Nope. Don't touch em, Wayne. The only time I do a ride for less than $10 is if it's for a mile for like $5 or $6. I'm basically getting paid $6 to park down the street to scout some more. LOL! I'll move my car a few blocks down for $6. Sure. Two miles: $12. three miles: $18. Ain't even going out of the area, waiting for my banger to hit the app or to convert a $15 ride to around $25-30 to get it moving. If it ain't $10, I won't even budge most of the time. All these $8 for 6 miles? Nope...leave it.

The apps never told any driver that they could/should do it, because it wouldn't feed the narrative that "if you have a car, you need to download Uber". That's their whole thing: get people who are not aware of what they're signing up for - abuse the hell out of them - and then leave em with nothing when they're done driving for years on end. Working for Uber and Lyft is not a career; it's a shame. We can do this and have our own client base of people, stacking REAL profits to get whatever insurance and permits we want/need to do this on a larger scale. Driving for the apps will never get anyone there, on purpose. They are designed to keep drivers BROKE and chasing carrots they'll never catch. Get them cards and you'll get them carrots!

I've always said Prop 22 was welfare money, not money to enrich business owners. It's fine for delivery because it supplements delivering $3 hamburgers...sure. But when we're doing 30min rides down highways and roads for $11, that don't make sense. The app is taking $30 on a ride and we're getting less than half of that money for doing the actual work. Prop 22 was always a welfare check. Drivers should have had the freedom to state their rates, like they had with the multiplier. That's when contracting was working - and the apps saw drivers getting too much money to the point where they couldn't keep drivers working 80hrs/week like they do now. Drivers were working normal hours, getting $2k/week back then. Now, they gotta push 80hrs to hit $2k. That's a demotion, last time that I checked.

You can make up your own rates. If you like $3/mile...$4/mile..$5/mile - let the rider know how much you'll do the ride for. Maybe it's a 30 mile ride and you'll charge $60-75 on it...end up getting a good $100 out of it. That's how you work!

Yup. I can't tell you how much I've made on the private rides from given out cards. I mean, even ONE private ride pays for the whole box of 1k cards if you do it right. That's 999 other cards you're giving out FOR FREE, basically. 1 card pays for it all, and the rest are just icing on the cake! Little expense to let folks know who you are and what you're doing for work. Folks wanna talk about "safety", but you never hear them talk about drivers being ok with risking themselves to get people behind us in our cars. People are jealous that drivers are getting money, so they always chase riders down, "...do you think that's safe???". They never ask a driver, "...do you think it's safe to do private rides? Hell yeah. A lot safer than taking 40 RANDOM Uber riders all night and day. I can do 5 privates and make what I make on 40 people. I'll take my chances with 5. LOL!

Out of $320 I made Sunday night, $130 was off the apps. $20 was a flip Another $20 was, tried to flip, but person who ordered ride for the passengers never paid me the $40 to take them 20 minutes away from downtown. When I asked where they wanted to go, they said 3 blocks away and we'll just give you $20 to drop us off... They were drunk and I don't think they actually wanted to leave downtown. And I was happy to drop them off because I felt like one was going to throw up on that long of a drive. 🤣 So it was a renegotiated deal. The other $90 came from $50 for the scheduled pickup and $40 for 3 trips to dinner, friends hotel, then back to Air B&B. So 9 trips on Apps for $190($120 plus $70 bonus) And 6 trips off for $130 Had I not used cards, I could cut that $130 in half roughly.

Dude paid $60 for that ride. I knew they had got him. They paid me too good for them not to have got him. I just didn't want to deal with the concert letting out. 😂

This is an industry where we can do well and have a great experience, not ride around BROKE in busted cars. We shouldn't be stressing each time we go out to work. Exactly. Everyone should have seen fuel revenue going down, which kills that whole industry that takes care of infrastructure. So stupid to come on the backend like, "...well, we can tax everyone because of the EV problems we now have. Well, damn! We stayed gas and STILL getting hit for EV-caused issues.

That's what they're doing: pushing drivers to be closer to BROKE than to be business owners. We're contractors who have a right to choose profits over "being busy on an app". These apps are ripping people off, banking their investors, and paying execs way too much with our stolen tips and lowered fares. Just opening this app shouldn't put someone in a poverty situation, but it does. Driver are paying HUNDREDS in fees each day they open this app: insurance fees, Uber fees, delivery fees, Lyft fees. DoorDash fees...all for opening an app. And then they have the nerve to tell us we're not ALLOWED to do profitable transactions on our own, as contractors??? LOL! Whatever. They're looking for a war with drivers, on purpose.

I only give water to my scheduled private rides. I don't give them to app-riders. LOL! What's funny is that since I've done this, not ONE bottle has been left in my truck! NOT ONE! I'm impressed. But again, we get over 100 degrees daily, so water is necessary and not really a luxury here. If you don't have water, you're gonna be pissed in about 3 mins of being outside. Most nights I get home and I still have most of them still in there because I'm only doing a few schedule private rides. The only time I went thru all 7 was when I had the family from New Mexico - and they had a couple of Modelos I also put in the cupholders. Drank those, of course!

@theczar6171 oh yes! If you go outside for a few mins, you're toast! It's insane in the daytime! I do mainly nights but I'll do a daytime ride every once in a while. Even at night, we're over 100 degrees. It was 115 in my car the other day doing errands!!!

I'm hoping, brotha! If I can bank about 3 or 4 days in a row of $1k each, that would be CRAZY!! It's coming tho. And I believe it can be done without a ton of rides...no challenges...no surges, etc. Just driving and contracting how we do! I can do 20 rides at $50 each. I can do 10 rides at $100 each. There are ways to do it, but I just gotta pick and choose my battles out there on the field!

Oh yeah. They're onto us. One guy walked up to my BMW and asked me if I was Lyft or Uber. I was like, "...yes. Wanna see my phone?" LOL! He was thinking I was in the rideshare pickup doing a cash ride because I dont have lights or stickers on my car. They say they'll take a photo of your license plate, and that's fine by me. Have at it. I don't have to do Uber or Lyft pickups at the airport. I can do CITIZEN/PUBLIC drop offs of my own family, friends, associates, co-workers, neighbors, or whomever I want. The apps just won't send me rides to/from the airport once the airport notifies them about me violating something on their apps - like blocking traffic or whatever. They're always doing something to drivers at the terminal. Bored. They just ain't got shit else to do. Probably paid off by the scammers at the airport to chase other drivers off and report any driver that's not a part of the scamming going on up there.

We have sparked NEW LIFE into rideshare! Trust me, if we all had to rely on the apps and not on ourselves, we'd all be in trouble. I'm glad to see people taking matters into their own hands. There's nothing worse than someone on the plantation SEEING others walk off, but they'll sit on the plantation and complain about how the plantation is. Its ok to complain about it, but also we gotta do something about it other than complain. We know the issues are pay and the lack of value, and that's what we base our choices on around here.
