@@ThungchamoEzung-xc5vy It is a 4-band radio with SW 1 and 2 (90 to 13 metres). Local 5-band radios have 2 TV bands which cannot work as TV is DRM now. And MW, FM and one SW (60 to 19m). So virtually it's like 3-band. But important SW channels are within 60 to 19 metre. So no point in buying a more band radio now, say a 12-band radio with 10 SW bands.

BBC broadcast time to South Asia is the second highest (4 hours -2 hrs in the morning and 2 in the evening) after RCI (24 hrs). As for the Voice of America, it doesn't target to India or Asia. This service relayed from Thailand is targeted to Africa During October to March with first 5 minutes of 'VoA News' in which you can find American accent. There is another service of VoA in this winter season (8.30 to 9.30 PM IST) on 19m and 16 m. But it is faintly audible as the transmission is low (100 kw from Africa). It has 5 minutes of news and then music. The UK transmitter at Wooferton broadcasts to Europe on 25 m in winter and 19m in summer. But it is seldom receivable in India except in Delhi-Haryana region. When the SW broadcasters have either shutdown or have half an hours (Romania) or even 20 minutes of service (NHK Japan), at least we can get 5 minutes of international news from VoA here in India, though in winter season only. Well, VoA is also available on app.

@@aakashs5584 No, not because of this reason. 11.9 mHz (25m) broadcast by SLBC is not a low frequency, so no problem in late morning also.

@@Radiotreehut Reception is good in both. But the DSP chip based Philips Champion has very low bass. Its FM is good. MW is very clear like the transistor radio (without background hissing or electrical noise), but bass is low. This low bass causes annoyance when you listen to news on SW. There is no pitch and the voice almost echos in air. Please watch my another video where I have tested SW 19 and 25 metres in the evening in my DSP Champion, Semi-transistor (2 tr and one IC) Deltron, and transistorised Philips Philettina of 1980s.

You cannot receive Akashvani Sambalpur at Cuttack if you live in Cuttack city. But you can receive it 40 km away from Cuttack. Why? Because the spread of the Cuttack station will decrease then due to away from the transmitter. I cannot receive also the Urdu service of AIR due to same reason more so as Cuttack transmitter is very powerful. Ha, ha! What made you to think I didn't try it before? I had tried it even 40 years ago when the transmitter was made 300 kw.

​@@sriraoandprusty8291 You listened to your local station in FM But for you Cuttack is reachable in MW and no radio made during last 35 years is good in MW ( except for local station).Try with new Philips Champion DSP set. It is clear in MW after so many years (but low bass). You can also collect an old transistor set, that is, radio made before 37-38 years.

​@@aakashs5584 All external services of SLBC are inactive. No shutdown declaration. But can't be technical reason. May be cost-cutting. May resume after economic recovery in Sri Lanka. May take 2 -3 years. Who knows!

@@vinayakbhamare4490 Abhi to SLBC band hai 10 din se. Pata nahi koi technical gadbadi hogi jo woh sudhar rahe hain. Lekin radio app me ata hai 7 am se 8 am tak jise app bluetooth se jod sakte hain.

New Champion is better in MW. And can receive Radio Romania as it has 13 m in SW. But old Champion has better bass and analog.So easy to tune and can consume less power.

For better Mw reception ke liye kaun jyada achcha rahega?

@@Akhilvlogpoint A very good morning. Yes, of course. As I said from my experience in another video, there was no reasonable clarity in MW in IC sets of any brand above 3v for long time. The new DSP based Champion set is clear in all bands with less background noise but its bass is very low, and not interesting to listen to especially SW, though good in FM and MW. Yes, analog radios have the feel of tunning.

Previously Sony 1619 IC was used in 5 band radios which were also based on Sony circuit. 3- band radios are modification of this circuit. Now CD 1691 IC is used in both 3 and 5 band radios. Reception is same but sound higher in 5 - band. I had a quick test of them at the Radio Fair held at Bhubaneswar February last.

Same IC CD1691 is used in both 3 band and 5-band and sound quality same.

Some times it happens due to weather condition. The weather condition was not good in most parts of India and Sri Lanka for last 4-5 days.

Yes. But in MW Philips is the clear winner though with a slight lower bass while in SW Deltron beats Philips in pitch (due to low bass of Philips) with same level of clarity. (I have shown the SW comparison in another video, but going to show the MW comparision)

@@Mitakshara7037 It's model no is AL 208 You can search in UA-cam . Other people have also uploaded it. Also see from my other videos. There are 8 silicon transistors in my set though some sets have 6 silicon and two Germanium transistors in audio stage. You may see it's inside in youtube also (Search inside Philettina AL 208, some people have uploaded it.). Some sets have Philips gang, but my set has gang by Mitsui, Japan (OE of Philips).

@@brahmbhattmukesh9396 Electrical disturbance ki baat alag hai. Yeh mujhe pata hai. Lekin 1989-90 se India me transistor radio milna band hogaya. Aur IC radio jo bhi aya aj tak, unme se 3v ke upar aisa koi radio nahi aya jo bina electrical disturbance se bhi MW me clear tha aur Philips ka apna IC to sabse bekar tha. Usse motor boating awaz ata tha. Isliye to Philips ne doosre companies ki ICs lagaye. Phirbhi 4.5v me nakam raha MW me. Main 3v ke upar ki radio ke kamjori ki baat kar raha hun MW me. Chote radios ki baat nahin kar raha hun. Pehli baar kisi bade radio me itne clear MW aya. Yeh galat fehmi hai ki electrical disturbance se sirf MW me noise ayega. Yeh baat transistor radio me mein galat sabit karke ek video banaunga.
