I have a few more motels to add to your future hunts. The Tropical Oasis Hotel is still standing at 9th Ave S and Ocean Blvd. It was most recently renovated and owned by a famous hotel chain. Now it’s up for sale. Another hotel is called Blu Atlantic Hotel which used to be called the Atlantic Paradise when I stayed there many years ago. On the ocean front in the southern part of town. One final one to add is the Beachcomber Hotel which is still called the Beachcomber and was recently renovated a few years back. It’s also located oceanfront in the south end of town. I used to stay there as well back in the 90’s. Check em out and enjoy. I just subscribed to your channel so I’ll be watching your videos

Wow what a fiasco. I love travel but these days it is almost to much! Never had the experience where you transfer via bus! Wow that is like really strange. Sorry to hear the bags didn’t make it geez. Yikes. I would be so pissed off. Quality these days is minimal. Ugh. What an adventure! 😅

That hurricane rerouted us t honduras, belize and Mexico. Glad it stayed off shore. Those rip currents are a doozy. Sea can be very powerful. Good surfing weather. I would not be on a board when a hurricane is off the coast. Beach walk sure does seem inviting. Whoa flooding. We had some here from debbie. Hi Hitchhiking Yeti! you might well want to google EC Regulation 261 (compensation in the event of travel disruption when the operator is responsible for the delay) for BOTH directions! Lufthansa generally will re-book you with a "doable" itinerary unless, as is so often the case now, AI is at work! I also believe you are entitled to reimbursement of incidentals such as additional clothing, personal hygiene items (shave gear, toothpaste and brushes etc.) for the misplaced bag(s), so you have hopefully hung onto your receipts, be they as little as 5 Euros... keeps it credible and Germans are EXACT. Lufthansa loves to market itself as a "premium carrier" in the US (their economy class is anything but...) and usually irregular operations/rebooking are routine, they include the words "free of additional charge" bc any rebooking with them is always associated with some kind of a "ding". So a little surprised they did not take better care of you. Once in Germany, of course, you'd be SOL ("Servicewueste Deutschland" aka - Germany, where Customer Service is nonexistent - you get ze bitsch and you're on your own) as you testified in having not only to retrieve the mis-allocated luggage on the day of your return flight (!) but make your own way to another airport! Key is: keep records if at all possible. You can then file with a third party (Airclaims etc.) for both delays/cancellations to do the detective and other legwork. For mis-routed baggage incidentals you can deal with Lufthansa directly and save a commission but it can take months... With a bit of tenacity, you might get a large portion of your travel costs for this trip back plus potential "goodwill gestures" (miles, "not so frequent" or goodwill voucher for your next trip). I also had the impression you were in business class for the x-atlantic portions of the trip based on the brief photos of this clip, are you hiding something? Just got back from Europe myself - yesterday! Would have made sense (and would have been very excited to finally catch a ride on the Lufthansa A380 - ze whale! to Muenchen (have taken Singapore and Emirates "whales" before), Mom is octiogenarian (mobile and sharp as a tack!) and I feel any additional time a separated family can spend together is time we should cherish! And she lives a little south of Munich, I would drive her to Turin, Italy during our stay (where she has a second home) - that takes a lot of stress off her back - then fly back from Milan-Malpensa, one of the not so well known airline tariff havens (travel to/from Milan is cheaper than any German/Austrian/Swiss destination(s) bc of competition - not just ITA and United, Delta, AA and Emirates Airlines and an almost unknown vacation airline, NEOS - all vye for your business.. tried them all sans AA (used to be a US Airways regular to/from Munich, then the Universe changed...) . Plus I had promised the Europe trip to my son of 21y. Lufthansa, in the middle of summer - New York (JFK)-Munich // Turin or Milan-Munich (change planes only, no stopover)-JFK altogether USD 1600. We did it for less than 1200/head, JFK-MXP on the secret Italian vacation air carrier on the venerable Dreamliner Boeing 787, connecting to Easyjet MXP-MUC, returning from Milan on the Dreamliner directly, including all bag surcharge(s) and far more secluded front row economy seating (also at a surcharge each way) - everything is extra now, even on Lufthansa - the price difference determining whether I could join in on the itinerary - or not! So, once again, Danke Lufthansa - NOT! Grazie NEOS Airlines, a bona-fide travel secret (98% of each load are Italian vacationers on these rotations, they also serve Palermo in summer) and any US traveller really gets pampered in Premium Class (a sort-of Business Lite - had the pleasure in January 2024) with food - after all, they're Italian! Yes, nothing is ever just perfect but I've experienced "smaller" maintenance delays on Lufthansa just as we did on NEOS this time, just under an hour, the cabin attendants were really quick in asking if we wanted anything to drink and generally very charming and making the delay a non-event. Were I to make the trek to Nuernberg in your shoes - (1) Purchase the US domestic portion as a roundtrip ticket (make sure you can rebook), Greensboro is a very smart move in terms of airfare, much less than Charlotte! (2) Purchase JFK-Frankfurt on Condor (brand new airplanes!), maybe (should they re-instate) Baltimore/Washington-Frankfurt roundtrip might justify a 4h drive from you (3) once in Frankfurt you'll have to take the local S-Bahn to the Central station then take FLIXBUS city bus shuttle from Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof to Nuernberg, imho Deutsche Bahn is just a PITA currently... less reliable than the proverbial $2 watch! and Flixbus is much cheaper too! Wow! Definitely a stressful experience for you. That's good advice to have the information with you at all times to get into contact with the airline. This is so crazy! Glad you finally made it back to the good U.S. of A. We would miss all your awesome videos! 😆Hopefully others flying internationally will see your video and it will help them. enjoy your videos much, yeti. living in charlotte area myself planning some local site seeing after watching them. we're headed to carolina beach for a weekend next month and plan to eat at a place or two you talk about. lived in stuttagart in early 80s, been to munich and frankfort and other areas, too. luggage was lost coming back. they (delta) actually had someone deliver it to our house the next day, however.

I'm sorry you went through that stress. Apparently it's not just Europe that's having airline issues. It's in the US, Canada, and South America as well. I was told it's a internet glitch. Certain systems keep over riding older systems (their words). A friend who works at an airport said its a global problem. She said one lady had her flight canceled or rerouted over 5 times in 2 days and weather had nothing to do with it. The lady decided to rent a car and drive.

I don’t think there are any guarantees when you book a flight. American Airlines cancelled my flight 8 hrs before takeoff and rebooked me on a flight that was 2 days long instead of my original 3 hr flight.🤬 I would’ve missed the wedding (not mine)I was going home for. After a few stressful phone calls I found a Delta flight that would “get me to the church on time.” I thought your luggage was going to end up at the Unclaimed Baggage Store!
