Calfornia DMV Motorcycle Riding Test - I will Overcome!!!
Didn't just twist; removed. Nut back there, bolt on front side.
THANK YOU for posting this video. I just picked up a used 2007 R1200RT with the stock windscreen .. I'm really tall and wanted to get some escape from the wind on the highway. Found a used Aeroflow tall on Beemer boneyard. It's not here yet but I'm hoping it works better. Fingers crossed.
No problem 👍
One month away from left hip surgery, followed by the right hip. I live in excruciating pain. My biggest fear is not being able to enjoy riding my bikes; it's my therapy.
Excellent: concise and clear...helped me get the job done for this R1250RT, and saved me $$ and a week or two waiting for the BMW dealer to fit me into their schedule. I love my dealer, but always happy when I can do the job myself. Thanks for the coaching!
Glad I could help!
Excellent....I had no idea that the muffler would have to come off, I assumed the tire removal was something that could be done on the road side with just one tool to remove the wheel!
Yes, I assumed the same.
Wind buffeting has been my nemesis on my bike The buffeting is SO violent at 70mph+ , and I am actually considering selling the bike. 55mph or below, LOVE it, but i commute 45mi each way to work on a Tollway where 5tmph will get you ran over. I've tried Powerbronze, Gustuffson, Puig Tours, Madstad, and nothing works I am also 5ft 11in tall. Ride safe!! Edit: Just finished your video. Wow!! What a HUGE difference that one made!! Follow up video on any rides using this screen??
You won't regret it that's quality right there
Nice moto; however, my knee’s would absolutely regret it. lol!
Russell DayLong Saddle will solve your a$$ problem
It’s just such a big seat! I’d feel like I’m on an airplane with that 💺! Lol!
Great video .I have a hip replacement next month .Your video was very reassuring and informative.
@Brianmahoney, it’s was the best decision I’ve ever made. Oh what a difference it makes riding with a new bionic! Wishing you a fast and successful recovery!
So How FAST were you going??? Lane Splitting Motorcycles aren't supposed to Exceed 45 MPH. ALL rational "reasons to Split" cease to exist at 45 mph.
@apaulmcdonough, looking back at the video, I’m gauging my speed was about 55 to 60 mph. As for lane splitting above 45mph not being a rational decision, while I agree it’s starts to reach my maximum comfort level, I also believe it depends on how and where cars are located while driving. For example, if cars are staggered in different lanes, then you can go faster. I would also venture to say that this is technically not splitting, but weave-merging! I just made that term up! As for the law, this is what I found online. The maximum speed threshold remains 50 mph for lane splitting. However, the differential dropped to 10 mph when traffic flows above 30 mph, and 5 mph when traffic is moving at 30 mph or less. My comfort level is 30-45 mph when traffic is backed up and moving slow; however, I’ve seen others who I’ve let pass, and they are doing 60+. And, at that moment, I often think to myself, I hope they don’t get into an accident! Stay safe out there, and I appreciate you watching the video!
Perfect! Thank you. This was exactly what I needed to get the job done. You rock!
@Michaeldeandargie, I’m so glad it worked out well for you. I tried to make it straightforward. Thanks for the comment.
Best 1minute and 28 seconds I spent today! Thanks.
@lubricator, I’m so glad it helped you.
Honestly one of the greatest things California has going , only state with legal lane splitting
@MarcHamma, yes - I’m not sure how I’d feel in other states not having the ability to split lanes.
What? It’s legal here in Az and other states. There are rules here tho, only on roads under 45mph. Bikers are not learning when and where to do it so it has become very dangerous here in AZ.
Is that legal? Legit question
@emibymartinez8, it’s definitely not legal! Lately, the local security guard has been asking me to move.
Nicely done.
Thank you!
Thank you for the detailed description, it is very informative, especially because you compare both back to back, while other videos tend to show the new windshield only. I was wondering if a taller windshield would lower the bike MPG, did you notice any difference?
@stepm9310, since I ride so sporadically (High and Low Rpm speeds), I haven’t really paid much attention to Aeroflow impacts my “mpg.” I really don’t know!
I jammed my gas cap about 40 miles outside of Nowhereville, out in the desert. You really helped me out. Thanks for the video!
@r12rtpilot, I’m so glad it help you out in a jam. I tried to keep it short and to the point.
I so appreciate you making this video. I am currently in the process of getting a total hip replacement at 68. I have a Harley that's been sitting in my garage for 6 months and was thinking about selling it believing my riding days are over but you have given me a different perspective on things and ,I thank you. 👍
@samueldelozier, you got it! Oh what a difference a new hip can make when riding! Good luck with your surgery.
Good video. Thumbs up. Do let me know if you would like to sell the tool.
@terrellgarren7125, thank you for the comment. The tools was rented from the distributor of the risers. You send them a deposit, and then they refund you minus the cost of the rental. I think the rental coast was $15 or $20 bucks, with a deposit equivalent to $115 or $120.
I'm going in for hip replacement both hips this year (one after the other doe to severe Osteo A) - predominantly because I cant ride more than 20 mins without being in agony and then after 30 minutes - I simply cannot get off the bike...I'm rider trainer, ex racer, previous shop owner, bikes are my therapy and life and now aged 50 - scared as hell to undergo the surgery and praying I get more movement back after surgery. Thanks for posting your video. It shows me it's possible.
@sire9220, I understand exactly how you feel when you said, “I simply can’t get off the bike!” I laughed out loud when I read that statement! Technology has come so far from 10 or 20 years ago, and I’m very confident that with a great doctor, you’ll find the end result most rewarding. Having both hips done will definitely require more patience from you as you work through physical therapy. Be kind to yourself throughout the process, take it one day at a time, work physical therapy consistently to get your full mobility, and I’m sure you’ll be up a rolling in no time. I’d love to see a pic when you are back up and riding. 🙏🏿Vance (1TITEMOTO)
Reminds me of the time I thought I could save money by changing out the dash lightbulb in my Audi A4.....ended up putting the dash CAREFULLY back together after not being able to get the burnt bulbs out, and let a indy shop install the burnt-out bulbs in the dash
lol! Yep!
Issues from the very beginning. Stuck oil filter! Then due to the angle of the filler hole for rear differential fluid, I had issues getting the fluid back in. So, I wasn’t sure if I over filled it. Then the damn spark plug. Fortunately, after taking it to the dealer, they could that I actually did not strip the head, it was found that the spark plug end had broken off of the plug and stayed in the hole. Good news, I didn’t have to pay for a new head, bad news is the my original plan to save about $400 turned into my paying an additional $1,000. I had them do the 12k and fix the problem. Lesson learned, I’m paying the mechanic next time that 24k comes due. 😂
Always use a jack of some sort to keep your motorcycle stable!
Thank you so much. I happen to be a Baker for Moms Pies.
@davemiller, ya’ll doing a fantastic job with those pies. Thank you!
Nice demonstration. I run a Werks QuietRide on my RT. Just a little more airflow than an Aeroflow, but still a significant reduction in noise and buffeting compared to stock for my dimensions. It's always a balance between protection, noise, buffeting, back pressure, etc. Everyone's preference and ergos are different.
@stansmiley7206, totally agree!
Great point!
I second the Werks QR. However, the winglets on the item screen performs well. What about mpg?
If you're even a little objective, it's easy to see the Indian is Superior at a better price.
@keithcoc4473, that’s an understatement! 😃
BMW DOES NOT HAVE A 1/2" nut ANYWHERE on the bike. It is 100% metric. That proper size is 13mm.
@ralaurenzi, Thanks for your comment. You are correct that it’s metric! However, given this application, I found that a half inch socket fit closer to spec on the nut than a 13mm socket which had a lot more play. To all who watch the video, use your own discretion as to which works best for you application. Cheers!
1/2 worked like a charm. I also raised a metric eyebrow but the imperial did the job perfectly.
I like this video !
Thanks for watching!
Are you looking through the screen with the OEM and Aeroflow on the highest setting?
@markmottersjead646, Mark, that’s a great question. In the video, I’m definitely looking through both screens at their highest levels. What I find is that when I’m daily riding with my Aeroflow, I place the top of the windscreen just below my eyesight. Picture it as if you were peeking over a wall! I find this most comfortable for my safety. If I get rain, then I place is completely up and look through the screen. I find the water displaces very well during the rain. However, as soon as it stops, I put it right back just below eye level. I hope that was helpful! Cheers, VA
@@1titemoto - Thanks for your response. Follow-up, do you find the width of the Aeroflow, especially at the bottom cuts down on the turbulence in comparison with the OEM screen?
@markmotterjead646, I find it definitely covers better than OEM. Areoflow does offer a lower wing that attaches to the fairing that might provide even better lower body leg protection. It’s not to mike liking. I’ve only experienced cold wind issues at knee and below. Thermals could easily solve that problem. As for the hands, they are slightly better protected against wind than OEM also. And I do mean slightly! 😂
I had Aeroflow screens on my R1100GS, R1200GSA, R1200GS and F800GS over a 20 year period. They are unquestionably the best designed screens around. I understand they are only released once comprehensive real world testing is carried out and have sophisticated shapes with compound curve and air ducts. I also used their side wind deflectors which lessened wind effects. Highly recommended.
@MeEtnorb, I agree with you 100%. I love my Aeroflow windscreen. I have not used the side protectors purely due to the fact that I personally don’t like the aesthetics of them. However, I can only assume, they work just as well as the windscreens. Thank you for sharing your thoughts!
Great video of the ride man😎👍🏻🏍️🏍️
Omar, glad you enjoyed it. It was good to connect with you. See you two wheels up on the next ride.
Challenger all day more bang for the$ plus water cooled last longer
You surely get more bang for the buck with the challenger. That’s one of the biggest benefits. Not to use puns, but here I go… the “challenge” is “r” enough HD riders willing to forgo their brand for the bang! They have a strong following!
As big as the OEM screen is, the buffeting is terrible. I need to replace mine too at some point.
@mytwowheellife9246, I found the OEM to be “OK;” however, I definitely wanted more coverage. I must say that it does get up to 100 degrees or more at times, and with the Aeroflow, it does block needed air. I may need to add a misting machine to the motorcycle. LOL!
@@1titemoto Misting machine is a great idea :)
Nothing left to say! Thank you sir. G.
Definitely!
Thank you, took the guesswork out of the job! I appreciate you, sir.
@mattmartin6486, I hope it help. I just trying to spread the knowledge. We don’t know what we don’t know! Cheers!
I brought a brand new Indian Chieftain Limited and it was the worse bike I’ve ever owned. The bike went into limp mode at 2,000 miles. It wouldn’t go above 30 mph. Also, I was in a state where I was unfamiliar. I thought Indian/Polaris would aid me since the bike was under warranty, but they didn’t. I had to have the bike towed to the dealer I brought it from . After sending it to two different dealers, they told me that the bike had software issues. And they had to build a new software for it. I asked how long would that take, and they said they don’t know. I asked could they just replace the bike. And Polaris/Indian said that they couldn’t replace it. So they expected me to pay for a bike I couldn’t ride. The bike couldn’t be repaired or replaced yet, they expected me to pay for it. I traded that piece of junk for a new Harley Davidson Road Glide Special. The HD dealers are easy to find and they honor their warranty. Be careful with Polaris/ Indian. The bikes and the company are trash.
@bigmanchris8693, apologies for the delayed response. I appreciate your honest assessment of your experience, and I too would be absolutely outraged if this happen to me. What I’ve found in my experience of owning machines, both motorcycles and cars, theirs always a few lemons in the batch, and I always pray not to end up with a lemon. None of us want that experience. While I’m sure there are many folks out there who will disagree that the motos and the company are trash, I think we are all in agreement that everyone should do their due diligence when purchasing a motorcycle from anywhere! Again, I appreciate you sharing your experience.
Hello, After a few months with your new risers, do you like it? Is there a significant difference in the driving position?
@Martinlaglois8977, my apologies for the delayed response. These risers have made a world of difference on my back. While I initially did not like the aesthetics of them, they definitely do their job, and their looks have grown on me.
I own a K1600B. I really want to ride a challenger and possibly own one but like you i wouldn't trade my bmw for it. The K1600B is an excellent machine
I love the fact the K1600B comes with reverse. Simply awesome!
This bike belongs to my father-in-law Gary Thornhill
@jdtomseth, your father-in-law surely takes care of that motorcycle. It was clean! All I could say is his motorcycle is 1titemoto! 👍
You lied to me Man 😮, You said the camera only adds 10lbs 😂 I see an extra 20 or so
You look perfect! 😀
Hey 1TiteMoto… I was wondering if you could do a Top 5 or Top 10 reasons on why you bought a BMW R1250T
I’ll get something out about why I went BMW. I Can share my thoughts.
@@1titemoto I look forward to your video on this!
bmw
Yes, I always find myself walking through BMW’s door as well.
I’m walking through the BMW door first. How about you? Which door you choosing?
Bought 2021 Road King special added 131 crate engine and was happy until they added 135 crate engine. Now I either buy it and upgrade or buy a Indian and I am going to switch. Tired of buying crate engines as Harley do not let you buy it maxed out from factory. You get more bike from Indian. Fuck Harley, tired of their BS
I rode a 2023 Road Glide ST and 2023 Challenger DH today. I like the looks of the Road Glide better, liked everything else better on the Challenger. And the Challenger $3k less OTD. With the announcement of the new CVO Street Glide and Road Glide today I'm going to wait until June 7th to see what the pricing looks like on those before I decide.
I’m finally planning to test ride that Road Glide. I’ll share my thoughts after.
@@1titemoto Looking forward to hearing your thoughts.
'Promo sm' 😩
Not sure what that means! Just sharing how I made mistakes along the way with this install.
I bought the Goldwing DCT and its a very solid platform. I'd love to have a Twin bagger but having recently ridden both the Indian challenger and the cheiftain and then ridden the Harley Street glide special and the Road king Indian are 2 for 2 over the Harleys. Cheaper yet better built and more features as standard on both indians. It's no longer even a contest. The only reason anyone buys Harleys is ignorance or brand loyalty. No ones going to prefer to have LEDs in the headlights only when indian has them in brakes and indicators too. No one is going to want a shock that gives less than half the travel of the Fox shock on the back of the challenger. No one wants to buy a CVO in order to get bags that lock on the Electronic key. Therefore people either dont know how much more you get or just stick with Harley cause its all they know. Harley bangs on about dealers everywhere but they are closing those dealers and modern bikes shouldn't need somone who can fix it in every town if they have decent reliablity. If you ride a Harley and are not locked in to a brand then try the Indian they're just better.
@jag1963, that’s a solid response. I appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts. I think you hit the nail on the head when you said brand loyalty. Harley has done a tremendous job with the branding of their motorcycles. So much so, it’s become America’s motorcycle. I too agree, you get so much more out the box with Indian. However, I sometimes still find myself googled eyed about the looks of the Road Glide and Street Glide. Yet, I continue ride ride my BMW with pride with anyone who’ll ride with me. Thanks again for your thoughtful response. Stay up and ride carefully!
Definitely the Indian! It is simply a better product.
@mrwhite2628, I appreciate you taking time to comment. Can you elaborate a little on what makes Indian a better product than Harley?
@@1titemoto In the last 20 years of my touring life. I've covered several hundred thousand miles. From 2000 to 2010. On HDs. They stranded me all over the country. Switched to Goldwings in 2011. Haven't had a single problem but a couple of fork seals. Haven't even thought about being stranded in years. My friend got a Challenger when it came out. It has been rock solid for over 50k miles. Better motor, better suspension. More reliable! It is the only bike I would consider, other than a Goldwing. Honda blows them both away. IMO!
Thanks for posting video. My grandparents lived in Idyllwild circa 1950-1980. Grandma worked at the gift shop and Gramps ran the market in Mountain center. I was up there two years ago…cool town. I currently reside in the Inland Empire and ride a rt1250. Safe travels.
@gettheskins, that place is a gorgeous little town. Oh the beauty those mountain towns offer. I hope to see more during my travels! Glad you enjoyed the video, thanks for watching and safe travels to you on your 1250rt. Maybe one day, we’ll cross paths!
Road glide limited owner here. I like the new pursuit indian came out with. I think it comes down to preference and dealership network. There is no indian dealer in my city but there is a HD. Love my glide
@harryhowell5644, I definitely about it being a preference thing. Harley has a huge following and very large infrastructure setup. Easier to find dealers within proximity. Thanks for your thoughts!
