Hey Life on the Bay, I come up to Hervey bay occasionally to go fishing with my grandfather, but have never had any luck. Would you mind sharing some tips and secrets? We fish land-based and I like using lures.
@@richbio0905 It’s pretty hit and miss land based. But, around the Urangan Pier is always a good option. Anywhere around Point Vernon can be good, but lots of snags. Jump on google maps and look for sand patches between the rocks. If you see bust ups, use metals, otherwise soft plastics are good. We have really struggled this year. The odd flathead, a few small Tailor, not much else. Depends a lot on weather and time of year. It should start to pick up around Oct - Mar. good luck 🤙🏼

I fish off Dundawran beach SO MUCH and never have I ever seen or heard of someone catching a blue salmon or Tailor. The rarest thing I have seen off Dundawran is a dart. And only seen 1 of them even though I have been living here for 7 years… good stuff bro…
@@JesseBrooke-s4s Thank you. We have run into the Salmon and Tailor a few times. High tide at sunset and sunrise and usually after some rain. Not common, but they do come through occasionally 👍🏼
I still like my early-90's F2 boards with their crazy multi-color 90's graphics. My F2 Sputnik with Gorbachev-graphics, my F2 Orbit with spaceman-graphics, and my F2 Strato with totem-pole graphics. 🙂

Achieved 44,5 kph on a 370 x 65 Bic Bamba using a Ka Kult 6.4 in 18kts of wind (Although not on flat water). Should try that as well sometime.

so flat it's pretty quick : also, in this wind range it's easy to go faster than the wind speed
Yeah pretty quick for an old board. The wind was perfect for this board. I’ve been in stronger wind and the top speed was 30kn ( 56km ) That’s as quick as I can get the Bic. It’s perfect in that 15-25 knot range 👌🏼
Had one of those.They weren't that fast but I sure did feel fast😂
It’s like an old car. Everything starts to rattle and shake, and feels faster that the new ones 😂.

I included every cast from the first to hook up ( sped up ). I think it was about the 6th cast. What I didn’t show was my last 50 😂

Great video, it is nice to see these old boards still performing well! I have achieved GPS measured 32 knots on a 1995 Mistral Explosion (288 cm, 130 l) with a 2008 North RAM 7.8 qm at average 5 bft, some gusts stronger Really great fun 😊

Thanks Mojo. It’s fun just cruzing around, will definitely get a fair bit of use. Lots of creeks, rivers, lakes and reefs to explore. We are even planning an island trip soon. Pretty happy with our first catch. 😃

Thanks mate. I was really hoping for something nice to christen the Kayak. Was very happy it wasn’t a Cod 😃. Still working on a few bits and pieces for the Kayak, but pretty happy so far. Bloody Sharks. We’re going need a bigger boat 😂

Thank you. It’s been pretty windy here lately, so the water is not as clear as normal along the beaches. It’s fine offshore thou 👌🏼

It sure has been humid. Been pretty windy too. We have only been fishing a couple of times over the past few months. Still, I love where we live. Always something to do 👌🏼.

Love to see old boards at speed. I got a MAX speed of 50kph from a Mistral Screamer 1 nd a LOdey 6.5m race sail using an old Garmin tied to my wetsuit zip in about 1996. Hee hee. Great board. Heavy, but sliced through a Gybe in an extremely satisfying way. I recall one day sparring with someone on his race board (and a prototype 7.2m sail from PBA sailor - he was on national race circuit and was 'part sponsored' by NP and was able to buy prototypes at very low cost). Will sound like I'm talking shyte, but I'm not. He passed me on every reach. He was and still is a better sailor. BUT, I passed him on every gybe for about 15 minutes. Industry needs to crank out new designs every year. Wave board and speed board outlines haven't changed much in 30 years, but freerides change more over time. Old boards still work for ordinary sailors as 99% of us are.

As someone who started windsurfing at the very beginning back in the seventies, and am now in my late seventies this looks better than sex.😢
It’s pretty good. The feeling you got back in 70s hasn’t changed. Windsurfing is definitely the most fun thing I’ve ever done. It’s just more expensive now 😂.

True, many of my viewers wouldn’t know much about the BIC Presto. But, I did reach 30 knots. It’s pretty quick for an old board.

I'm in Hervey Bay, I used to own a Caper cat for many years. It is a fantastic versatile sailboat. The hatchers in the hulls are very handy on camping & sailing trips on the weekend. I am very interested in getting another one & sailing to Fraser Island once again! Do you have a spear one laying around you want to get rid of:)

Just about any beach from Point Vernon to Urangan. They are everywhere. And they eat anything and everything.
