Oh, What Big Buttons You Have | Chubby Buttons 2 Review
Winter biking and snowboarding just got easier. In this video, I’m reviewing the Chubby Buttons 2, a wearable Bluetooth remote that’s made controlling my music and podcasts during cold-weather rides an absolute breeze. With its big, easy-to-press buttons and solid functionality, it’s been a key part of my winter setup for years. But is it worth the price tag?
I’ll share my long-term thoughts on how this device handles everything from freezing temperatures to rough commutes, plus a few quirks I’ve run into along the way. And trust me, there’s even a moment where it made me feel like a certain extraterrestrial Predator… but you’ll have to watch to see what I mean. 👾
If you’re into biking, snowboarding, or any cold-weather activity where gloves and gadgets don’t mix, this review is for you. Stick around to see if the Chubby Buttons 2 is the right fit for your adventures!
Teaser Topics:
* How this device became my winter commuting companion.
* What makes it stand out in cold-weather conditions.
* And, of course, why it made me feel like an alien warrior with a wrist gauntlet.
If this video brings some value to your day, hit that like button and consider subscribing for more gear reviews and outdoor adventures. Let me know in the comments-how would you use the Chubby Buttons 2?
Until next time, stay safe, take it easy, and be rad to each other!

Thanks for the review. The predator ending was great.
Thanks for watching until the end! I’m worried people will drop off by the time that rolls around. 😂
nada te saca la cara de virgen abdul
I wish I had regained this confidence earlier in the trip. Oh well, better late than never!
You know any good bike rentals near the area?Planning to visit Canmore nx March-New subscribers. Thanks
Hey man, thanks for subscribing. Appreciate it. Canmore has a ton of great trails in the area. I would suggest starting with the Nordic Centre - lots of trails that cater to a wide range of skill level.
Oh shoot. I totally misread your comment. I thought you asked about great trails, but you asked about rentals. Sorry. But actually, I’m not sure what rental options are available there. Since we had our own bikes with us, I’ve never actually researched it. Your best bet could be to ask on the Canmore subreddit.
Thanks for your video. Question: I would need the hitch extender, and once mounted to the rack, I would want to leave the hitch extender attached to the rack at all times (was thinking about just getting a 4 inch drop and 8 in extender from amazon). Anyway, question is, can you put it in garage mode if you had that hitch extender still attached to the rack? Thanks in advance -
Hmmm, I think it would work? If you did that you would have to mount the garage bracket higher. That would mean loading your bikes would be a bit more awkward.
@ Thanks for answering my questions. If you were going to buy again, would you still go with the 7?
@ A couple years ago we bought the 4 bike rack as well. We found that we were rarely traveling with more than 4 bikes so I wanted a smaller one. Still have the 7 which mostly just hangs in the garage and stores some of our bikes. So it is nice to have the 4 and 7 in the garage to keeps our bikes organized. Also, for our Whistler trip next summer we will likely be traveling with 6 bikes so it will be good to still have the 7. You know what they say, why buy only 1 when you can have 2 for twice the price. 😂
Right on, fellow flatlanders!
🤙🏾
Do you know if there's rideable trail btwn Sutherland Beach and Chief Mistawasis Bridge, on the east side of the river? Looks pretty sweet over there from Silverwood Heights side.
On the east side of the river the singletrack doesn’t continue to the bridge. The farthest you can get to is a trail called Corkscrew. There is shared paved path you can take up Central Avenue and then onto McCormand to get to the bridge. I would suggest checking out the Trailforks app. All of the Saskatoon singletrack is mapped in there.
Good stuff, gorgeous footage. How far's the drive from Saskatoon?
Thanks! It’s close - about 50km south of Saskatoon.
Heck yeah Naidu's!
🤙🏾
Nicely done. I'd love it if my wife came riding,, but I kind of eff'd up any hopes of that ever happening again, when I made the wise decision to take her out to the trails, for the first time, on one of the hottest days of the season, where the mosquitos were running rampant. Yep, one of my shortest rides ever. 😆
LOL. The first time I told her she should come ride some of the trails around the city, she laughed at me. And when I suggested the family should start biking, her thought was that we’d ride bikes to go get ice cream. Next thing you know she’s spending $5k on a bike and booking all of our bike trips. 😂
Oh man, it's so amazing to see how these guys have been progressing. It's getting to the point now where you just have to say that they're great riders, period; rather than, they're good riders considering they're kids. On another note, sucks about the suspension service on Brighton's bike, but the rental helps. Hemant? You and Michelle are doing a fantastic job! 👌 Shame we don't see mom in the mix too often though. Looking forward to the next episode. 👊
Ya, this year the boys really took things to the next level. Pretty cool to see. And coincidentally, the next video is going to be about Michele getting out of her comfort zone on some blue tech.
I just found your channel. Having kids the same age and younger than yours, it's really nice to be able to enjoy your videos with my kids and not have to worry about certain words being used.
Awesome! Glad you’re able to enjoy them together, and thanks for watching! Comments like this make me happy. 😁
I see podiums in the future.
The gang is back! Sweet! Love how you have separate POV's for all 3 of you. The Cahones on them boys man! WOW! 👌 Snowboarding too huh? Busy family for sure. best line of the video ... "I would subscribe to your UA-cam channel" 😂
We just drove back from Saskatoon to Lumsden pulling our 25’ camper with a single-bar 4 bike carrier and did not like how much bounce it had with 4 bikes loaded, even with the anti-rattle clamp and a tie down strap. Is this RV rated and does it handle the bumper mounting receiver well to your knowledge?
I think it is RV rated, but I would reach out to VelociRAX directly. They are pretty helpful. I didn’t do any research on how well they work mounted to a camper since it wasn’t my use case. Hopefully it works out for you. I’d love to know what you find out.
Super helpful review and video. It pushed me over the edge to order the Velocirax 5X instead of the JB Racks or Yakima Hangover or Hangtight.
Awesome! Glad I could help. You’ll definitely be happy with your purchase.
Nice to see what your average riders can do
Ya, not everyone is sending it like you see in most videos! 😂 I’m sure my boys will be very soon, but I’m just happy to get down unscathed.
Does it fit in the garage on the truck?
Yes, without bikes it isn’t any higher than the cab. It won’t fit if I have bikes on it though.
You said you have a 4X now, but that is not listed on the Velocirax website, only the 412, which is 12" between bikes. Does the 4X have 15" spacing, like the other "X" models?
Sorry, I totally didn’t see this comment, so here’s a late reply which is probably irrelevant to you now. Looks like I have the 412 - not sure if there was a 4X and not sure why I said that. I just confirmed that my order was for a 412. That being said, I haven’t had any issues with the hikes contacting each other. Curious if you ended up going with this rack as well?
@@AitchYXE Thanks for replying. I did reach out to Velocirax to ask about it anyway and they said they never had a 4X. (I wish they did.) I haven't ordered anything yet, but I am looking at the 412 particularly, because we have 4 riders in the family, so while I was hoping for 15' between bikes, 12" should be okay, since two are adult bikes and 2 are children bikes, and I'll probably just stagger them adult/child/adult/child.
Super useful, thank you!
Awesome! Glad I could help, and thanks for checking out the channel.
Great vid and the channel looks awesome, new sub. I’ve also got a half ton pickup. Wondering if you ever drop the rack down completely for ‘camp mode’? If so, were you able to open the tailgate without the hitch extender? Are you able to open it with the hitch extender? We’ve got a RTT and need something that gives us bed access. VR is at the top of my list, but a tray rack with swing out is also still under consideration. Cheers from YEG!
Thanks for watching and the subscribe! Appreciate it. I rarely put it in camp mode. But can see us using that feature more this summer since we plan to do some actual camping 😂. But if you do have it in camp mode the tailgate could be lowered all the way without issue (I’m pretty sure - I don’t think there is anything that would impede it). On my FX4 it was so close to being able to fully open without the extender. I could have just let it rest on the lowered rack, but I didn’t want to put extra weight into it. The extender worked well. With the Tremor it has a wider tailgate at the top so even with the extender it still contacts the rack, but so little that I’m not worried about it.
Hey @kevinhandy2490 did you end up going with the VR? I also have a RTT set up and am struggling with finding a good solution other then spending near $2k on a full swing away. Also from YEG, Cheers!
@@mikeyfiveoh6285 after a long time and a LOT of research I ended up going with a swing away tray, and I'm very, very happy with it. You're right though - basically 2k. Kuat Piston Pro + Pivot, and I'd do it again! Good luck
I ordered Flack 2.0 xl trail torch from Amazon and was worried that they were not authentic. Since they are half the thickness compared to my other Oakley’s which are prizm gray and black iridium.
This was the first pair of Oakley sunglasses that I’ve owned in a very ling time so I can’t help you compare. Hopefully you got the real deal.
yow! dude how's the One up Grip feels? i had watch your components installations.
I really like them. I have worn those ones out and replaced them with another set. All 3 of my mountain bikes have OneUp grips. They’re cheap enough to try out. If you end up not liking them it wouldn’t be a big hit to the wallet.
Thanks for the video. Wanted to hear how they are in low light, are they too dark for overcast and shady conditions?
They are ok in lower light. I’ve worn them during twilight and I’ve still been able to see well enough in the low light and the cover of trees. I usually forget that I have them on. But to be fair, I rarely ride in low light situations.
Man these are awesome, great memories for the family and the edits are getting better and better.
Thanks, dude! Appreciate you watching.
This video is a cut above! Brighton and Spencer are seriously rad riders!
Thanks! I did feel really like this video as well. Adding another POV camera definitely adds to the dynamics. Makes for tougher editing, though. 😀
Can you change the lenes
Oh good question. I don’t ever remember that being described in the description or other reviews I read. I don’t think they are.
@@AitchYXE yes you can change them, just like the Flak XLJ
@@davesmith4804 Oh, cool. Thanks for the details!
🔥
Thanks!
Aitch and family, good job, long may your adventures continue. The great cansdian outdoors has to be one of the best "playgrounds" for the little ones to enjoy. 👊
Definitely can’t beat the Canadian outdoors! Thanks for watching!
Rookie question: I'm planning on heading to Blackstrap this weekend. How do the blue trails compare to the blue trails found in Saskatoon?
They will be similar on both the NBR and Spoke n Sport side. You’ll find there are more roots/rock and tech stuff at Blackstrap.
I feel like it would take forever to reach bottom
Ya, it’s a long ride for sure.
Lol! I’m going to kicking horse next week. Looking at room rates. Any suggestions?
@@Gretsch0997 We actually did an AirBnB on the resort. It was condo a little bit up the hill. It was pretty good. Had a nice deck with a hot tub, and was quite modern.
Perfect ! Thanks
You can get the anti rattle much tighter than what I saw in your footage. I use an impact drill with a socket in it. As it tightens lift up and push on the rack. It should be completely solid when it's fully expanded.... Great review!
I’ve never actually had a problem with rattle when tightening by hand. It’s solid. The only movement is with the bike bouncing a bit because of their suspension. But that can be remedied by using elastics to hold the brake levers engaged. I’ve started doing that and the bounce is pretty much eliminated. Thanks for watching and reaching out!
@@AitchYXE yeah straps in the brakes make a huge difference.
That was some fantastic parenting on that steep decline. Kept the vibe cool while not making the boys feel nervous or pressured. Nicely done, because that section looked steep AF! While it shows that you have confidence in their abilities, I'm sure it must be a little nerve racking for you as well. Another great day out! 👍👌
Thanks. We do see some pretty gnarly stuff, but I have a pretty good sense of what they can and can’t ride. There have been times they will want to ride something that I’m not sure they’re ready for, but I usually I leave it up to them since they also have a good sense of what they can ride. Many of those times they back out last minute and I get super relieved. But sometimes they also surprise me and ride it just fine.
Hello, ive got a sienna and inwas concerned about it bottoming out , exiting the driveway. I also was concernwd about rusting and corrosion on the dampeners. Maybe wrapping them in plastic...?
I have driven through lots of rain with the rack and I haven’t seen any issue with the dampers. I haven’t noticed any rust or corrosion, but I haven’t really got in for a detailed look. I don’t use it in the winter so it isn’t exposed to salt. I’m not sure if backing out of your driveway will be an issue. Probably depends on how low your hitch is in relation to your bumper. Is it below your bumper, or does it come out from inside the bumper (I’ve seen some SUV hitches like that). I would suggest reaching out to VelociRAX and asking about clearance for your specific vehicle. They could likely give you a better answer than me on that one. But overall, loving the rack. I actually just got another one - the 4X. We typically only cart around 4 bikes and it is much easier to take on and off compared to the 7. Having both hanging on our garage wall really cleans up the fleet of bikes we have 😂
Awesome! Boys killed that
Ya, they progressed so much during that trip. I guess 9 days of lift access park laps goes a long way.
Heading there this weekend for the first time and this vid has made me very excited to hit the trails!
Awesome! Have fun!
It'll be amazing if the boys keep up the interest in the future. That's some serious talent. Thanks for sharing your time.
Totally. I understand they’re still relatively young and interests come and go. I think the fact that we do this as a family activity and build our vacations around it (and snowboarding) does help keep them excited about it. Thanks for watching and reaching out.
Dragon chaser heads straight over the first berm, you found yourself on northern lights as the first trail
Ya, I wondered about when I was looking at the map recently.
Nice video! We’re an Australian family of 5 , currently in fernie, and doing a similar journey! Keep pumping out the videos!
Awesome! Fernie is great. Enjoy your time!
I agree Stiffy is definitely a dark blue at a minimum!
Totally. There a some pretty gnarly sections.
That first run looks like so much fun. Before you know it, the boys will be braking for dad. 😄 Keep em coming! Fantastic footage.
LOL. Agreed. I think I have only a year or two left before I’m being left behind. Thanks for watching. Appreciate it!
I was there last year and never had a chance to hit some of the trail like the SuperBerm, hope i can ride with you guys since were both from Saskachewan im in Swift Current anyways.
For sure! Maybe our paths will cross some time and we can go for a rip!
wow
These videos are great! Well edited, well formatted, I wish I was this good! Majorly underrated... A bit unfair if you ask me, but keep up this work - you'll go far!
Thanks! Appreciate the kind words, and thanks for watching.
As long as your having fun, the trail grading does not matter
Exactly! I’ve been trying to build that attitude in my children. Being young they often get obsessed with the trail rating, especially my youngest. My oldest seems to get it now. I think they view it as assessing how “good” they are. Like you said, doesn’t matter how good you are - are you having fun? I’d rather be terrible and have tons of fun as opposed to be an expert but complain about everything.
Wow! Your kids are impressive. Did you have them coached or just learn from riding with you? Looks like a great place as well.
Ya, they’re decent riders already. They ride everything I ride now (not that I’m very good or anything 😂). There are times that they ride down sections that I was questioning whether I would have if I was alone. But since they ride it I feel I need to as well. LOL. No coaching for them yet. We’ve basically just been riding a lot over the last 3 years. Thanks for watching, by the way. I appreciate it. Consider subscribing, as well 🙂
@@AitchYXE gotta love that no fear aspect that we had as kids. I'm in my late 40's and just starting out. My 9 year old has already made me look bad on a few occasions. 😂 Sub'd for sure. 😊
I hear ya. I’m turning 48 next week and they’ve pretty much surpassed me in snowboarding ability and I predict only a year or two with biking.
Hi. When do you think the resort will open again for biking? Thanks..
I believe they typically open in mid to late June.
I've been curious about these shoes vs the low cut version, and i appreciate the Gaitor feature. The D30 material also sounds like a welcomed addition to the overall design. Being someone that plans to ride with the family, I'm glad I stumbled across your channel. Sub'd! and thanks for sharing. p.s. Was an update review ever made?
Thanks for watching and subscribing! Glad that it was useful. I never did a follow up review. I have been happy with them and they have held up well over the last 3 seasons. I plan to use them this season as well since I don’t see a need to replace them yet. They’ve been comfortable and I have no complaints.
Perfect. I just ordered a pair on sale. Green though, which I've never seen before.
Awesome! I hope they work out for you!
Hey, just curious because I really want one of these, but when you're having a problem getting it back on the hitch is it because you removed it in the lowered position? Have you tried removing in the upright position yet? Great content by the way!
I think we have found our groove now and are able to get it on and off without much of a problem. The reason we put it in the camping position when taking it off is because to hang it on the wall you have to get it into that position. Doing that after it is off the truck would be tricky. It’s a minor thing and I would definitely recommend going with the VelociRAX for your rack.
Epic trip.
Ya, it was a super good trip.
