This is bonkers amazing! I'll have to save up to get one :D
Thank you! Happy to set you up with one when you're ready. :)
Can the Teensey Rom access a usb hard disk? For instance in stead of a usb or sd card?
Interresting. Had to research some as I haven't been asked that. It appears that the general answer is no, but there are some reports of SSD/USB adapters working with Teensy: forum.pjrc.com/index.php?threads/usb-host-and-ssd.71398/ I don't know of anyone who had tried on a TeensyROM, SD/USB sticks have been large enough in my experience. Thank you!
I can't wait til my TeenseyRom gets here. I dug out my SX-64 the other day and I'm thinking about setting up my bbs from back in the day if the floppys are still good. I had a big bbs C128 with three IEEE-488 dual PET drives, one of which was double sided, 3- 1541's, 1571, and 1581, and some other dual drives plus expanded 512k ram drive. Among other hardware. I started out in 1981-82 with a vic-20 with tape drive and moved up to a c64 with 1541 and grew from there. I had a bunch of books on C= stuff, even an original book on the KIM-1. Lets of files before Quantumlink and back when Compuserve was up and files from some Chicago bbs's back in the day... remember blue boxes, black boxes, red boxes...all that phone hacking stuff... lots of text files on that stuff. I am deffinitely gonna drag out my floppy drives to backup what I can. In early 1990's I built a hard drive interface using a western digital 8 bit pc hard drive controller card interfaced to the commodore and made it read, write and fornat an old 10meg hard disk... lots of fun then.
Your audio sounds perfect! What brand of headphones are you using there mate? ✌️🇦🇺
Thank you much! I use Logitech headphones for voice, the C64 audio is direct.
Awesome video, thanks so much. I just bought a TeensyROM to be used with the C64 Core of my MEGA65...
My pleasure, glad you were able to pick one up! I don't see an order from you, perhaps you purchased from someone else? Thank you none the less! :)
Great presentation! Cannot wait to receive it. Thank you for your hard work.
Thank you for the kind comment and your order, much appreciated!
Great presentation! Thank you for your hard work!
Thank you much, it's a labor of love! 💜
Great presentation Travis. I'm loving my TeensyROM!
Thank you much LukHash! Love your music, and glad you're enjoying the TeensyROM! 💜
Does the Teensy have a way to offload the bus interface to some peripheral so the CPU doesn't have to continuously poll GPIOs?
Yes, basically, but not via an external peripheral. An interrupt fires each phi2 cycle and it checks to see if the transaction is for it to service, or immediately return control to the main routine/loop.
A brilliant presentation and an amazing feature set! Congrats on all you've accomplished. We love our TeenyROM!
Thank you for the kind words and for all the EVO team has done in support. You guys rule! 💜
Brilliant work on this project. LOVE seeing all the new additions and features. The MIDI and ASID stuff is absolutely awesome!
Thank you very much, I appreciate that.
TeensyROM is on fire Travis!
Another great presentation to show off even more of the jaw-dropping feature set of the TeensyROM. It's such a fantastic device Travis! It's amazing to see what you've brought to our trusty C64 from 1982!
Thank you so much for your kind words StatMat, I really appreciate it!
Excellent presentation Travis, you did really well! And great to see OneLoad64 in action along with the NFC loader. The TeensyROM is definitely the best featured C64 cart imho. :)
Thank you much StatMat, you know how nervous I get. ;) Indeed, OneLoad64 is the perfect collection! Getting to be that time of year again, can't wait for the next release! :) Joery mentioned you in the interview portion, and what a nice guy you are, to which I fully agree. You seem to know everyone in the scene!
Hi ! Just ordered my TeensyROM a few days ago and I'm very excited to discover it ! Keep up the good work! Thx from France
Thank you so much, can't wait to see/hear what you do with it!
@TravsterOR I really want to build an NFC reader with some good looking cards like you described in another video and I think a "carousel" front-end in the like of the TheC64 would be awesome but I don't know if it's possible nor if I'll ever have the skills to do that. 😁
@@erebos007 I'm not familiar with the carousel front-end, but in a quick search, it sounds somewhat similar to the TeensyROM Desktop UI by @hExx, check it out here: github.com/MetalHexx/TeensyROM-UI There's also a link there to a great demo video showing it's features. Regarding NFC, there are a couple places selling readers/card/cases, but it's fairly straight forward to do yourself, details can be found here: github.com/SensoriumEmbedded/TeensyROM/blob/main/docs/NFC_Loader.md Just let me know if you have any questions, or on the TeensyROM Discord. Thank you much!
@@TravsterORThank you. I'd like a front-end running on the C64 not a PC side UI. That would be great and maybe the TR running as a coprocessor could make it possible, I don't know how it's interfaced with the VIC-II. But if it's possible to display text and a little picture side by side and that we can scroll to the next entry maybe, idk😁
@@erebos007 Interresting thought. @StatMat has paved the way by including C64 display compatible images in the OneLoad64 collection. Adding that it to the potential future ideas list, thank you! :)
So cool!!!
Thank you Jaime!
Terrific presentation. Thanks for the props man! Can't wait to see more TR experiment contributions. Looking forward to Bitscape 2025!
Thank you for all your support @hExx64, you've brought so much to this project! 💜
I am thinking about buying 2nd TeensyROM because I have two C64 computers and I wonder if I can play both SIDs via TeensyROMs in one time with my Cakewalk DAW + two instances of Chipsynth C64 VSTs.
Sajtron talks about that in the BitScape stream (link in the description) just before my talk. I created some FW to make the USB ID unique so the two TeensyROMs show up individually in that configuration. ChiSynth64 seemed to have problems running two instances while streaming ASID, but he was able to use one with ChipSynth64/ASID and the other with MIDI/Cynthcart, both controlled by the same DAW/machine. :)
It's my favorite piece of hardware of the C64 this year.
Thank you much Joe!
Wish I had more time to fiddle with the TeensyROM, or even the C64 for that matter. Landed 6 Apple ][‘s at VCFMW, one a Rev 0 board, and have been stuck in Apple World since.
We all need more time for our retro hobbies! :)
@@c1ph3rpunk I hear you! I'm trying to balance the C64 and a retro MSDOS build at the moment lol!
I have loved watching the progress of the TeensyROM card over the last year Travis! Congrats!
Thank you guys for all your support along the way, I really appreciate it!
Very cool! The features you keep adding to TeensyROM are amazing. Thanks, can't wait to try it out.
Awesome! Love seeing my project being used by a great product!
Thank you so much Barry for the excellent Custom Basic Commands framework. Tremendous work!
Right On!
Is this available for the C64 Mini and where can I get one and how can I make those games?
Hello and thanks for asking! Unfortunately the C64 Mini doesn't have a cartridge port like the original C64. There are links to the TeensyROM, NFC reader instructions, and OneLoad64 games collection in the video comments. Thanks again!
Very cool!
Remote C64 tracking FTW!!
This will be the 1st thing I will do with Your cart! Bought one today :) Thank You!
Thank you for your order, it will go out today, enjoy! :)
@@TravsterOR received Your TeensyROM but no time to test it right now. BTW, I want to inform You, that I had to pay $20 more on the post office for Your package. Thank You :)
@@pierrenagonio Glad you received it safely. Aren't landing costs typical in European countries? Apologies, not sure how I could have prevented that. Have fun with your new TeensyROM! :)
I love My C64 FOREVER ❤❤
I've been looking for these online. Thanks for uploading!!
What are using for the video output? 🤔
Thanks for your question! I use S-video out of the C64 (much better than composite) and then through one of these converters to HDMI: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B019T0WFA4/
NFC cards have this much memory?
They can hold 1-2k of info, depending on the type. Enough to hold the path/filename of the file to be loaded from an SD card or USB thumb drive.
This is incredible
Thank you, it's a lot of fun! :)
I've been using Commodores since 1988 and I have *never* seen anyone "drive" a SID "live" like this. I need to be able to do this too. I have plans. I have some ideas.
Thanks for your comment, eager to hear your plans/ideas. If you need a TeensyROM, I can help there too. :) Be sure to check out the other vids showing the SID being controlled externally, such as this one: ua-cam.com/video/-Xs3h59-dOU/v-deo.html
@@TravsterOR Thanks. This summer I am beginning to repair or replace a lot of broken, aging hardware that's been out of commission for way too many years. I'm in the process of nursing my two "C64c"s and my two "flat" C128s back to health so I can return to using my classic CMD hardware which I bought when it was new. I'm also just now discovering the HDMI solutions which have appeared lately and I'd never heard of a TeensyROM until yesterday when I started watching these videos for it. I'm looking for a step-by-step list of parts I need to make this happen. There's all kinds of documentation online but no "front door" to the mansion. Is this hardware I can buy? If so, where? Is it something I have to assemble? If so, I may not be so good with that. Do I need software to make it work at all? I haven't found answers to these n00b questions yet. I have a Win10 laptop but mostly so I can punish it in a dark corner and snicker. Meanwhile, I have 2 nice Linux desktop PCs where I do all my audio and video work, and everything else. I'm really hoping I don't have to do Windows to use my Commodore in cool, new ways like this.
@@TravsterOR That video right there with ChipSynth... the final 3 minutes or so is *exactly* what I first attempted doing in 1996 and seriously want to return to doing as soon as I am able. I tried using my C64 as a sound source in the 90s and combined it with my Ensoniq EPS-16Plus workstation (sampler / sequencer / mixer... basically a full-featured onboard DAW). I never was able to do enough with it, though... but what's in this video right here is exactly where I want to land! Making original music just like that and beyond... combined with some real guitar... mixed in 4.0 and/or 5.1 which I'm experimenting with making already. ua-cam.com/video/-Xs3h59-dOU/v-deo.html
@@TravsterOR Since I'll be working with 2, 3 or 4 Commodores + Linux (and Windows if I have no choice) I'm likely to be needing more than one TeensyROM. I was a CMD hardware junkie in the 90s and I still have all of it. It's just been out of commission. I enjoy having more than 1 of whatever I need and use.
@@LordHasenpfeffer That sounds excellent! There seems to be a bit of a movement in that direction lately as technology is starting to catching up with people's imaginations. There's been a lot of discussion in the TeensyROM Discord server's Music/SID channel about it as well. Here's an invite: discord.gg/ubSAb74S5U Definitely looking forward to hearing what you come up with. :)
What a RUSH!
Alright, I'm hooked.
Great to hear Paul, hope to get one in your hands soon! :)

Thank you! Indeed, hope you get to give NFC a try as well! :)
Great new feature Travis!
Thank you kindly, been wanting to do this for a while! :)
What? In the good old days, loading started on Friday and the game was played on Sunday. In the meantime you could listen to the cool loading music or go shopping or make coffee, none of that is possible anymore.😁
LOL. Is any of that other stuff really necessary when you could be playing with your C64 all the time now? ;) Coffee is important though, gotta make time for that. :)
Clearly you've never tried to play the newest Microsoft Flight Simulator through Steam. Just one middling update and you'll see: they took the C64 slow load experience to new eyelid-drooping levels. :D
