Great video! Thank you for sharing. Are there particulars between the Rigid Heddle brands that one should consider before buying?
Thank you so much!! I want to buy a rigid heddle loom. What should I look for in my loom?
I wish to have one may pls. Me I know how much thank you
You're video history shows 2 years. Congratulations!!
Thank-you for going through at the perfect pace! This is one of the best video’s I have seen so far. I am getting a Loom at Christmas and so excited!
This was the clearest video I have seen of setting u a loom, thank you
OK ,not sure if you've ever encountered this problem. After warping & starting my 1st project(bit of a minor disaster but it's a first time),I found that as I was weaving, thought I needed to adjust tension. But as I tried,it hardly moved at all. Tension was OK. Not sure if you understand my problem but I'll just keep plugging onward. I found the prettiest light blue yarn I'm just really wanting to do this next project up well.
What loom are you using? If you have an Ashford knitters loom the tension will be an issue if you did not angle the loom before tying onto the front beam. With the standard Ashford rigid heddle looms, that is not a problem. Also, is the warp yarn stretchy? That can also cause tension issues if it continues to stretch on you. There may be some other factors as well, but not being able to see it in person, I can only suggest some things, Let me know if this helps. Jeannine
@@thebluefibertree I'm using an Ashford 16". Same as in one of your videos. Don't know what angling is. The yarn isn't stretchy I don't think. Oh well, back to the old drawing board. Thanks for your videos.
Very good video!! Thank you
Thank you! We tried really hard to make this easy to follow. Jeannine
This was so helpful!!! I was nervous to get started with my new loom, but now I feel like it’s not as difficult as some videos make it seem. Thanks for sharing your skills!
I'm so glad this helped! Happy weaving. Jeannine
Your video is very fuzzy
Love how slow you go so I can totally see what you’re doing. Great tutorial! I’m just getting started and need all the help I can get.😊
I'm glad it helped. Let me know if yo have questions. Jeannine
Thanks for the awesome demonstration!
Cindy, You are welcome! Jeannine
I just found this video and just wanted to say thank you for making this video. First one that I have seen that actually makes sense.
You're welcome! We try to make it as simple as possible. Enjoy the other related videos.

Thank you sooo much. Just subscribed. You answered a question about set-up. I have limited space & no long table to put loom & peg but I do have 2 snack tables...perfect. Your ibstructions were great. I ddo have a question about the warping yarn...how much would I start with to make it that long(e.g., would one skein of yarn be enough?) Not sure if you understand my question.
It depends on how long and wide your project is. This is easy to calculate. Take your length of your project plus about 8 inches for tying on to the front and back beams. Multiply that by the number of warp ends (eyes and slots). Convert to yards and there you have it. So for this project it is 48 warp ends at 6" (2 yards) long. So 96 yards in your warp. I hope this helps. Jeannine
@thebluefibertree Yes it does. Sorry about the typos. Received my loom the other day. Assembly problem though: the screws are so tight that I can't get them against the wood panel. Just have to eat more Wheaties!
Disregard my problem above...got the loom put together finally.
My reed keeps popping out of the holder, would you be able to tell me what I’m doing wrong?
Is it still popping out? What type of loom do you have? If you have an Ashford knitters loom the tension will be an issue if you did not angle the loom before tying onto the front beam. With the standard Ashford rigid heddle looms, that is not a problem. Have you tried just a little bit more tension on the warp?
thank you for helping me learn how to weave you are a really great teacher
I am glad this video helped you get started with weaving.
How do you spell that fiber wash/rinse that you were talking about? I just bought a Kromski Harp Forte and haven't warped it yet because I have been watching lots of weaving videos. Yours was the most informative so far for me. For instance, when you showed how to place your reed at an angle when you brought it back to just kiss the yarn to the woven area... I really liked that. And then when you suggested starting with the reed in the down position when you start to push the shuttle through from the right... as a gentle reminder that you know if your shuttle is on the left... then your reed should be in the up position. Also... something that really made a lot of sense was the reason you just kiss the fabric when pushing your yarn back is because (and it's so obvious... but I guess new weavers just don't think about it) when you take the item off the loom it bounces back and all the holes you're seeing will disappear. Also, you answered one of my questions that I was wondering about... but no one else really touched on was the material that you want to use for your warp thread. It now makes sense why you use cotton or something without a lot of stretch because of that needing to be under tension. I was wondering... because I knew that cotton shrinks when it's washed and acrylic doesn't usually shrinks... I had been wondering how was that going to work when you wash the item. Things just started to click. Thank you for making this video.
Thank you for kind words. Just lets me know I am making a difference and helping with these videos. Was it Eucalan for the no rinse fiber wash? That's typically the one I mention. Jeannine
Beautiful explanation can u teach us making a macreme curtain
I would love to show you how to make a curtain. Coming soon.
Fast forward to the middle… the beginning is chitchat and less than helpful.

Excellent teaching
Thank you Your clear vocal and matching visual instructions is appreciated
Glad it was helpful!
I’m new to spinning and my aim is to do big chunky yarn for woven projects on my peg loom, mainly rugs for my cottage as have so much free wool. I managed to get an Ashford country wheel. What would be the best core for this work. My wool and locks are from my mull sheep. It was one of your videos that made me buy Ashford. Thank you for sharing. Best wishes from the soggy west of Ireland.
Great explanations Kris!
Glad it was helpful!
Nice job on video. Happy weaving!
Thank you so much! We had fun.
Why would you buy lacquered or natural finished? What’s the difference?
The natural finish allows you to treat the wood how you would like it to look. You can wax, stain, varnish or even paint the pieces before assembly. The laquered Ashford looms would still need to be assembled. You also save about $150.00 when you purchase the natural as opposed to the finished loom. This goes for the spinning wheels, too. I will say the knitters looms from Ashford come lacquered and assembled but do have some limitations when it comes to some techniques. I hope this answers your question. Jeannine
Great video ! Thank you so much for making this process crystal clear!
You are so welcome! That's what we were hoping to acccomplish.
This is the best and clearest video I've found on how to warp up. Just brilliant, going to warp up now. Thank you so much!
Glad it was helpful!
I am so grateful to you for this tutorial, it was the best one I have seen by far. I have only just bought my loom and was feeling very overwhelmed and frustrated trying to warp it, as I just couldn't wrap my head around it using the other tutorials I found on UA-cam. You have definitely given me confidence to get stuck in and try again. Thank you so much ❤
I am so glad this helped you with your weaving. We try to keep it easy for everone to understand the process. There are 2 more videos in the series for weaving and removing the project from your loom. I hope these help as well. Jeannine

Thank you for this, I now feel ready to get my loom set up and dressed after having it for six months as yet unused
I am so happy to hear the video has helped. Enjoy your weaving. Jeannine
Excellent tutorial thanks!
from where did you buy the loom?
Jeannine is an Ashford dealer and sells them in her store and on her etsy page. Let me know if you need any help.
Thank you. This is very helpful! Can anyone recommend what size loom I should be buying? I'd like to make dishcloths and welcome door mats. Thank you 😊
The most popular size we sell in the store is the 24" rigid heddle loom. You can do so much more with this one since it can do the wider projects as well as smaller items. Let me know if there is anything else you may need. Jeannine
Where can you get the yarn separator strips, and will they work on a Cricket rigid heddle?
We sell these in the store. Cardboard strips can be used as well as heavy craft paper. We some times use paper bags cut to the width of the loom. Many possibilities. Jeannine
What's up with the endless fire blanket add? Gave up before seeing video...
I am so sorry about the length of the ads. You Tube does all of things outside of our videos. I hope you are able to go back and watch the video again.
