Have been practicing the shred with higher gain again these last days, not sure why - no idea where it might fit. I guess just because it's fun and I'd like to be able to do it, just in case. It's gotten embarrassing to post such stuff on the Patreon so I'm dumping it here. Your indulgence is appreciated

TABs on KRANTZ vol. 1 20 Songs from 8 Albums Notated and tabbed for guitar bass 212 pages by Wayne Krantz and James Muller SURE, Krantz could have simply published a book of transcriptions and been done with it; but no. He dishes on each album the songs are pulled from and on each song individually, with accompanying anecdotes, compositional travails, guitar realities and hard-won epiphanies fl...
Thanks Wayne! Your communication here is wonderful and spot on! I studied with Mick while at NEC ‘88-‘89. As you recounted, it was life-changing for me as well! I even had the opportunity to do some music copying for him during that time, quite an honor. The whole trip was really an amazing experience. I kept in touch with him and years later (1993) while I was living in VA, he sent me hand written copies of ALL the articles he wrote which were featured in Guitar Player Magazine, 1991-1993! I still treasure those! Anyway, thanks again for your wonderful and inspiring video. You certainly didn’t waste anything you learned from him in your own creative expression! ; )
At the end, in the last few months with Mick, he said you’re the best musician he knows. I’m sure he told you. But I know he meant that.
crazy that fall of 74, that “some kid” on the other guitar other than mick was probably either pat metheny, or one of garys berklee students sitting in for him😂
That was a beautiful and heartfelt tribute. Sorry for your loss Wayne.
Not a star student ? Man, please don't underrate yourself. When I would relate my playing to ten concerts I have seen, the 'two Drinks Minimum' tour is among that. Your playing and phrasing is mindblowing and propably you're just ahead of your time.
Thank you ! ❤
I saw him and Metheny playing with Burton in ‘75 at Symphony Hall in Boston. A year later I took a handful of lessons with Goodrick at his residence outside of Boston. I think it was in Belmont. Back then I think he had a semi-hollow body Epiphone.
Good 👍🏻👍🏻
Wayne, I've always thought you have a bit of that cynical but necessary revisiting of established routes of understanding the guitar. Just like Mick Goodrick did. Thanks for a lovely rememberable of him and his influences, perhaps on your musical thoughts via guitar.
Beautiful
What enjoyable content.
RIP Mick
To a lot of folks YOU are THE advancing guitarist, Wayne.
I took a lab w/ Mick in 2000; a student asked him who he thought were the most important guitarists post Metheny/Sco/Frisell, and without hesitation he listed Wayne Krantz, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Ben Monder, and Wolfgang Muthspiel.
and Mr John Abercrombie.. !!
"Some kid playing guitar..." kind of an auspicious slight against Pat Metheny?!
He knew we all know so I don’t think it was against PM, just a subtle poke…
I also wanna take a lesson with him but there's no way to contact him.
I was fortunate to get to study with both, Wayne and Mick. I will always remember the first lesson that was scheduled with Mr. Krantz at Berklee. It was a sunny tuesday morning and I was super excited to finally get to meet my hero. When I got out of the shower and was ready to leave for class, my roommate told me that two planes had crashed into the World Trade Center….
whoa
Thank you Wayne
Hey Wayne - I was micks last ever student, we played together at your clinic. Im working on a book for him with David Lee and some colleagues. Would love to get you in on it!
Yes! Great news. How is the book coming along?
Terrific. He was the best of the best. (I just made my 4th piano trio album with Bob Moses last summer. We spoke about Mick.)
This was beautiful. Thank you.
Thanks for the insights Wayne. Mick's record "In Pas(s)ing" is a masterpiece. I hope you make another record soon - I will keep checking your Bandcamp page.
Yeah. My first Mick Goodrick record. An ECM classic.
Hi Wayne love your playing I have had the advancing for over 25 yes still refer to it, and I have a copy of the 36 solo guitar pieces by Mick. Actually started to really work with the pieces. I've never met Mick in in Australia but I consider him my principle informant. When I'm ready will record Lyricon from his book and post it. Really enjoyed some of the sessions that Tracy Yarrad post's of your work. Brilliant
I'd love to get a copy of those 36 pieces 😃🤞🙏☀️
