It's August 2, 2024 I was also facing the same problem on my iPhone. The VPN idea worked for me. Just install a vpn and restart your phone, then use your Cellular Network, not wifi. Then connect to vpn. Then open Whatsapp and do everything task. You may again get the same notice (try again... bla bla) Just wait few minutes and restart the Whatsapp, Leave other things. if try again in few minutes, You'll get your otp ❤

This option (UNLOCK) is removed from samsung account from december 23, I have same problem with S23. Need wipe all data if you need remove screen lock.
