Even though it was a wipe I think the pulls leading up to were ideal. 10 min can be shaved from the run if pats line up correctly, but I wouldn't call it a bad time. Did not record rm1-4 because I was testing a build but it turned out to be a good run.

Foundry is so ruthless
Do you feel the staffs on the mesmers gives them more stability versus a 40/40 set? I'm going through the rest of the eight elite missions and already completed tombs and just finished The Deep. Thanks for sharing this!
It's negligeable and comes down to how you pull the mobs. As long as they are runed and insigniad properly they should be fine with no weapons. This is how you would run heroes in something like DoA city for instance. they would only have an offhand because if they attack they drain their mana due to spirits and environmental effect. you can run staffs but you should also have a /20 offhand in this case. with staff you can give them higher hp with 2 +30 mods. This can help offset when you cannot afford superior vigor but want to run 2 superior runes (sup FC, sup Dom, minor vigor, +60hp staff, ETC)
omg I'm a dumbass. Until I watched this video I didn't noticed max party size was 12. I've always done Urgoz with 7 heroes and never noticed it should be 12. I also don't use consumables (because I'm stingy). Haven't tried HM yet tho.

What's happening at the boss? How is the boss taking dmg while you're running around?
spirit of extinction triggers damage on foes under 90% health. the plants that spawn and then die spawn on players/heroes in the party within range but are delayed. so as i'm kiting around they are spawning and dying 1:1 for how many heroes i have in range. as you can see i damage the boss below 90% and then simply kite because the spawns end up killing him
Showing once more your dedication to the cause lol, thanks again buddy hope to see you around in game. I'm a sucker for Warmonger's Weapon when I'm melee, it might be worth taking a look at to see if it helps take care of some casters when splinter/AOE isn't necessary.
Brutal weapon is a good substitute but I wouldn't make much use of it with enchantments. I think there is room for SoH somewhere on the bar but decided to ignore it for simplicity.

the song came out around the time guild wars was at its peak so yeah wouldn't be surprised. there are many people who don't play but it's always been a game where you come back to it some time down the road. it has the most depth of any rpg i've played. there are plenty of people still playing it. if you don't think that's the case, log in during wintersday and go to kamadan lol there's like 4 full districts every xmas.
Absolutely sick run to pull this off in under an hour without consets, major props to you. Also enjoyed the music, would you mind posting the full tracklist? The automatically generated one in the description is wrong/missing for a some of the songs. I'm especially interested in the first track that runs from 0:00 to around 4:53 in case anyone knows it.

@@simonexler5792 you have to buy it in the gw1 store. it's a mercenary slot. basically it's a character you already have/create and then you talk to the mercenary registrar. i created a pvp mesmer then went and assigned him as a merc, then deleted the character and boom. you now have any kind of hero primary you need.

this is not necessarily true. In hard mode, not all mobs break once you're at the 33% movement speed boost limit. Example as grasping darknesses in UW. For those to break you need a 50% ms boost which can only be achieved by using a few specific skills (like dash). Or you need to cripple them all. Still a nice demonstration :)
In HM, no mobs break when you have 33% IMS. But last I read if you have 2 speed boosts that are both 33% or more, then the game will consider it additive (stat wise) and mobs will de-agro. So they would think you have 33%+33%(until you hit speed cap that is). Obviously this isn't how it works to us, we still run at 33% no matter how many of those we stack, assuming we aren't under cripple. This was a general rule and something I was just experimenting with. For the most part this works across most mobs in HM. The other thing that I have seen stated but is false is the bit about strafe spamming and how that will break agro faster. This was/is used by runners to break agro faster than just running normally. I learned that from chaostheory in his running guide.
@@Callahan1 I assume strafing makes mobs break faster because you are actually moving faster. When you strafe, your total speed increases. I don't know much about stacking 33% boosts per se, I come from the speed clear community. All I know is, when I'm in UW I have a base 20% speed boost from conset's essence. This does not cause a single HM mob to break since they move at base 33% speed. Once I pop a cupcake for 25% ms, SOME mobs (most of them actually) will start to break. However, some of them won't (graspings). This is because graspings have a higher movement speed. If you wiki HM effects, you'll notice it says that mobs get from 33 to 50% speed. I believe this is the reason. Code wise this is probably as simple as: "if target is moving faster than me, break aggro". Which means that once we achieve 34% MS, we will be moving faster than a lot of mobs and that's where we break. This would explain why 33% boosts arent enough: the cap is 34%, most mobs move at 33%. As far as I know, there is no way other than dash-like skills to ever break aggro from mobs with more than 33% MS (graspings, some mobs in DoA, etc), no matter how many movement boosts you stack. But I may be wrong on this
@@figa5567 Did not know about the faster movement speed while strafing. That is interesting. So you're saying the velocity increases above normal when you strafe? That would definitely explain the faster break. I have read the HM effects and SC wiki quite a bit to understand these mechanics. Still both of these resources could be a bit more technical for those of us that would like to understand how these mechanics work. And yeah I am aware of some mobs that this won't work on. My point is that this still does work with most mobs in general PVE(outside of elite areas). I made this video a bit earlier in my experimentation with mob agro mechanics. I would say this strategy is mostly useful for runners and not really applicable to general HM. But it is also interesting for anyone who has never tanked before in something like an SC where you would use a spell shield and IMS to ball mobs.

I assure you it was not easy. I had been trying to get that time for a few months, trying every day. There were a few things that could have went wrong and probably should have when I hit warden homicide but it all worked out. I will post a guide for this area eventually. Also, thank you.

I hear ya man. No other game like it sadly. I always come back to it year after year. It started with clearing every single eotn dungeon and after that I moved up to the factions dungeons. Now i've just got a few ones left!
@@Callahan1 I haven started the dungeons I’ve been ecto farming to afford obsidian armor and chaos gloves for all my toons right now I’m working on my cartography title for my derv and my sin right now then I’m going to do every single quest side and all in the entire game then I’ll probly start dungeons but you have probly already done that! I had a 10 year break due to the family computer breaking in like 2008 and I bought my own last year and have been playing since it’s so said that I missed its prime! I come back to this and it’s so sad to not see huge amounts of people in every single outpost and people at beacon’s perch saying “ running to Drocknar’s forge 2plat per person 2/6”
@@greggcallahan1580 That's pretty sweet, keep it up! You will still see a lot of players periodically. Particularly during wintersday in Dec. They also released new elite skills for each class a little bit ago and for that I never saw so many people online, it was so cool. Also a lot of gw2 players who never played the 1st are coming in and clearing the content from ground zero which of course helps promote it a bit.

Is this a request or a class question? You can clear DOA with any class. With warrior it would be a lot easier than most because of the high armor and ability to absorb damage. If you are asking if I could post a full clear, you'll have to wait. I haven't learned the other 3 areas of doa yet to do efficiently but will post a video eventually.

I appreciate that. When I finally noticed that spot I wondered if the team designing foundry did that intentionally. That spot works for the large anguish pack on the other side of foundry as well. I never really played daggers until this area. When you break down the damage capabilities of dagger, it's an energy surge every 3 seconds to all adjacent. It is substantial aoe.

Hm, you have your Gamma cranked up. it's very white hazy, is that advantageous for DOA? I run it all the time just wondering.
so you can see it better. Every doa video is so dark it's almost hard to watch. I increase my gamma for this dungeon only i think it helps me.

It is quite versatile if you want to stick with non-dagger builds. I think it offers the most flexibility in this dungeon because of the requirement for balanced builds across the board. I wish I could warrant the soldier stance axe build but there really needs to be dps on the player end for things to die efficiently.
@@Callahan1 I hear you. Pure theorycraft speaking (since I'm miles away to do that with my warrior), my first impression would be that Dwarven Battle Stance is a fine choice. Provides tanking, DPS (lacking admitedly), and shutdown in the form of KD. I like it on paper, But I'm probably wrong.
@@aedemiel7834 It is a nice idea, I still throw up Earthshaker builds from time to time but the main thing that hammer has going for it is quarter-knock lockdowns on caster mobs. The ability to pair earth shaker with q-knocks in an adjacent lockdown chain for up to 30 seconds with fgj+enduring harmony sounds amazing. The problem is that renewing smash requires absolutely perfect play or it goes on cooldown for 30 seconds. This would leave you with having to q-swap weaponset to sword/axe and autoattack the next 3-4 hits then earth shaker again. This for me is hard to do consistently and requires a lot of micro. On top of this I often micro keybinds for select skills across my heroes like splinter or blood is power, etc. If hammer had more defensive ability I think it might be more viable but it is quite hard to tank the large amount of damage you can with a shield.

Nice, I've found that I can sit in the opening of the room and pull the Anguish + Misery titans at the same time and mesmer them to the ground. I usually run a Ritualist spirit spammer and I can body block the mobs from reaching my party. What's Norgu's build? I see Monk spells but I'm curious about it.
I have tried that method a bunch of times but I can't get it right. If you don't kill fast enough you quickly become overwhelmed. The method highlighted here allows you to pull 1 group at a time at your own pace. Norgu has 10 prot. Pull points from where you wish, he is there to help me tank rage spikes. If you alternate shielding hands while soa is down and vice versa you can tank very heavy damage. You can throw those 2 on any hero but it's easier for me to use him since I micro his panic use a lot anyway.
Really really great work, very sustainable and you seem to have a really good repeatable strat. I see a lot of people running warrior mains with Splinter weapon which is rly good for 99% of the game but DoA you do see that you can't hold aggro long enough especially with large groups like at 1:24 they break away and almost wreck your backline and only that one spirit of life saved you by tanking. Also 3:56 you see that wall is very helpful but you start to lose control. As one human I just can't hold aggro long enough especially in big pulls so the enemies inevitably break after a few seconds and wreck your team which is why I run spirit spam. The spirits do surprisingly large amount of damage and have phenomenal body block capabilities and you can place them to completely trap even big groups as long as you have mesmer shutdown, it really is an art and I find maximizing spirits/minions just makes everything smoother like butter. Our hero builds are very very similar good work but instead of your Razah i bring a second N/Rt with Minions (aura of lich) which are surprisingly helpful with body block and at holding aggro throughout. I also put 2 Stand Your Grounds on my mesmers, and my secret sauce is replacing one Surge with a Shared burden and putting Frustration hex on both illus which is a monster damage multiplier combined with Sig of Clumsiness and Cry of Frus. And finally yeah I also die constantly, maybe your strategy is more sustainable but I love tanking monster groups high risk.
@@gkoogz9877 You cannot go wrong with spirit spam but you can deviate from that meta and in my opinion be more efficient by learning to agro-bridge mobs into a perfect body block. There was a player I studied who used spirits exclusively and plays how you explain. They are immune to critical hits and take 50% less damage when you have armor of unfeeling. That is pretty massive. I do not agree with your stance on minions, as they can often mess up controlled body blocks when you least expect it. Heroes are fast to respond when you need to flag them into a better position, but you cannot control minions once they agro something. The pro to minions is that they offer more distraction from your backline. I think minions are more suited toward a caster player and that is okay! I think you should also study the largest threat monsters so that you know what is okay to let through to your group. The biggest threat to your group in room 3 is rage titans because they are PBAoE elementalists that can 2 hit your group with shockwave if shelter is down. For this reason it is important to tank those yourself or kill them fast enough that they don't drop aoe on backline. The anguish titans are no threat at all until they spawn despair which are necro spikers with armor ignoring aoe damage. Misery titans spawn RAGE titans which again are the highest threat because they run straight to your backline and try to drop very heavy aoe. In room 3 you are basically fighting 2 packs of rage titans. As long as you can deal with the rage titans, I think everything else shouldn't be too bad. Agro is harsh in GW but that is what makes it really nice for melee due to agro-bridging as mentioned above. Basically the way to get a perfect body block every time where you can block 90% of the mobs on you is to force the mob agro to target your backline while you hold a corner. It is probably the same deal with spirits but just keep in mind they are much harder to keep alive vs the player who can be protted and healed consistently by heroes. I can show you some tricks to pulling off this strategy consistently without fail if you want to add me and pm me in game: Talon Deathblade As for the timestamps you listed, 1:24 it is okay if a couple get through, by the time they did the damage was already done to them since they were balled on me for long enough to aoe spike them to low hp. They were never really in any danger because I had 3 defensive spirits up with armor of unfeeling triggered. Shelter is the biggest defensive spirit to maintain because it forces everyone to only take 10% max hp per hit. This is game changing. A global prot-spirit that cannot be disenchanted. If you see my buff bar, you will notice that shelter never went down that entire fight even after the fury titans spawned. In addition to this, I was running save yourselves which decreases armor dealing damage from mobs by something like 80%. They are very well protected in the event shelter goes down. 3:56 a couple did get through and that is mainly due to that spot being a bit weird. I think they are getting through due to collision which is what runners also use to gate-clip into outposts in factions if you know what that is. This normally never happens on a solid wall. I noticed that right away and had to adjust my strategy a little bit so instead of spiking I had to prioritize 1x1 and focus on the rage titans as they spawned. Again, shelter stayed up for basically the entire fight which is what's important. I wouldn't consider control in the fight lost just because a couple mobs escaped the block though I do strive to maintain a full body block until they are dead. The main thing to note is what is a threat at that time and how you are dealing with it. Mainly keeping up shelter, and not letting the titans die in mass if a couple get through your block and instead focusing 1x1 on the rage until there are no rage titans left. If you read all that then I hope it helps. It took me a long time to learn the little mechanics that make this game unique and I can share all that I know if you want more. @@Callahan1 Hey bro so you inspired me to run it again and upload a vid to show you my strategy. I'm chronically averse to micromanaging heroes and I'm super lazy in general so my strategy is always to build something with a maximum combination of flexibility and ease of use, that doesn't need cons, doesn't need any special pulling tactics or flagging, and is flexible enough to resurrect itself when things go wrong. Our builds ended up pretty similar with the mesmers so we are on the same page for sure but mine replaces your warrior blocks with spirits and minions which i think adds some chaos but also more overwhelming force like a slime mold or tidal wave that tends to overwhelm foes. Incoming Rit is hot. I tried it with flesh wound once, but thought it took up too much energy and had to be BiPed constantly. Otherwise Soldier's Stance Axe <3
wow i'll have to try that. Having the run skills disabled and keybound helps with the energy. Alternatively you could run essence strike which is a pretty good upkeep skill.
I'm using a second account to get 3 more heroes making the run very safe. My problem is that I can barely make a dent on Urgoz...I use EVAS on the boss and start running in circles but before a complete a full round around him my heroes start to get stuck (either in terrain or the growths) and die. I've watched your video 3 times in a row but I still can't see where I am messing it up. Can you give me hint? Thanks.
This took me many tries, I must have tried this atleast 50-100 tries, not including resigns. In that process you learn a lot of small details about how the dungeon is set up and how things spawn. -Those growths spawn in waves and it is based on roughly spirit range around urgoz. -There is a safe spot for edge of extinction and the ST to stand. You do not want to walk adjacent to that because of growths spawning on that spot, this would cause a wipe most likely due to not having ability to damage urgoz. -Growths spawn in waves as mentioned, but there is almost a cooldown if you think of it that way before they spawn again. when they spawn, they will not spawn again for another 2-3 seconds. This can be used to UA rez someone if they died or got stuck on accident. Alternatively you can exploit that to get initial damage on urgoz with group so that extinction starts working. after that point it's all extinction. -If you keep them moving consistently in circles roughly on the path i have set, they will simply spawn in waves and in clusters behind your group. You will want to run in circles not too small or too wide. I run the path like in the video because I don't want to run into the group of growths about to expire/blow up. If you take a wide enough path, you won't run into anything and all the growths should spawn behind your group as you run and nobody will get blocked. -At 56:00 I realized the entire time i had not set up extinction.. that makes things a lot harder so don't forget that. -You can bring by ural's hammer instead of evas, this way you have a 60 second party shout rez as long as you don't die. I used this method in my RoJ 10 hero video: ua-cam.com/video/17yJuhggTbo/v-deo.html -I have bound flag group(flag all) to f4. I am not sure how many people do this but you can press f4 and then double click and your toon will move in the same path as your heroes so you essentially control everyone including yourself at the same time. I did that the entire time. With practice and timing you can actually travel in the same "1dot ball" by first flagging them on yourself, then flag-double clicking away. I used this to try and skip wolf spawns at 10:00 but at urgoz a group that close is not necessary.

@@agriosbr a bit late, but I used to run this dungeon for coins with 7 heroes, if you enter the Urgoz lair there is a safe spot immediately on the left side of the slope that leads down. It's just within Urgoz range. I just park my heroes there and have the EoE hero standing still in that spot and run around myself.
Why did u deactivate panic the whole time?
I have done a lot of testing with this ability and do it for a few reasons: 1) when pulling mass melee, they are not balled at the start and it is best to micro so that you get perfect time cast to shutdown large damage which could wipe group. Hero ai will cast spells before you have balled the mobs, which means panic will not be applied to all mobs you want it to, unless you micro when it is necessary. 2) hero ai will not use this spell and instead prioritize damage abilities more often instead of using panic on 1 target when nothing else is nearby 3) heroes will cast this on cooldown often but will often use it poorly, like the example above, or when there is 2 mobs next to eachother instead of the 5 that are about to ball on me. this would put the ability on cooldown while I am getting hammered by 5 mobs, etc. *There are probably more but those are the main ones. The Leviathon pull at 4:30 is a good example of required micro. Those things hit very hard and if panic is not timed well, it will wipe the group.
@@Callahan1 ty! But 1 more question: Why do u do aoe dmg? Ur Elite hits only 1 enemy but causes a aoe shutdown effect and Renewing Smash isnt aoe as well (4:45)
@@Hans2241 np! AoE damage is the most efficient method of clearing HM content since mobs have so much hp. If you think about it, let's say you have spells like discord that can kill 1 mob very quickly but then there are 22 or so mobs, it would take a long time to kill them all even though you kill 1 fast. Let's say you now have an esurge team and can't kill single targets as fast, but still quite fast, yet all the damage is also aoe. If you knew how to pull those 22 mobs together and how to mitigate the damage they caused, you could clear faster than fast single target damage. That is why AoE is so good. I have panic which is very good, and required for pulls like what I mentioned, but on top of this you can have more shutdown. Earthshaker is AoE shutdown like panic, but more controlled and less dependent on micro since I can just spam it. It works extremely well against casters and boss mobs which do a lot of damage to the group. It may not do AoE damage itself but with good use of Splinter Wep, you have as much AoE as you need to clear large groups, while at the same time keeping them shutdown so that they cannot do damage or heal. The main purpose of this was to see if I could shutdown Kanaxai at the end of the run and for that it worked perfectly. Trash mobs are more challenging to use hammer on however, since many possess block and interrupt, basically making KD very hard to do initially in the fight. Kanaxai also needs to be knocked down in intervals (80%,60%,40%,20%) before he can be damaged and if he is not KD'd he will be invulnerable to damage. Renewing Smash is used for Quarter-knocking or Q-knocking. I learned this from EFG Jack. If you land an Earth Shaker, and have something like FGJ active, every 3 renewing smashes you can use another Earth Shaker. This means you can essentially keep foes from doing any damage at all if you time your skills perfectly. This is the main reason I use this ability, in addition to amazing single target damage (comparable to assassin dagger spam damage). If you watch the final boss fight, you can see he is knocked down for nearly the entire fight and my team doesn't have to deal with any of his damage, aside from the room's -8 health degen effect. 37:17 and 56:10 you can see what I mean. Do a few more SC runs with someone, you should try to tank it and you will get a much better understanding of the dungeon. I am using nvidia shadowplay to record but I would rather use OBS. Shadowplay is very buggy sometimes. Otherwise solid quality. I also edit these in adobe premiere and add a couple corrections to them.

It is doable, but Warden Homicide Stair pulls are really tricky. Also very hard to tank without Spell Breaker/ShadowForm. I'd love to see it!

TimeMaster334 Hey man, sorry I didn't see your comment until just now. Editing is a long and time consuming process, but it's very rewarding. Some of these small edits you see that are under a minute, people have spent up to like 8+ hours just perfecting it... Just to give you an idea. I have a playlist of cool frag videos, some tutorials on how to do effects, tutorials on how to use certain programs, etc. I can give you that link. The main things you need to get started are Lawena Rercording tool (or something similar taht can record tf2 at very high frame rates), an editing program like Sony Vegas or Adobe After Effects (both of which you can "pirate"), and finally a program called Virtual Dub which can stitch together what Lawena creates or records. Those cinematic camera angles are called "smooths" in the source engine. There are specific ways to create them.
