    Good Lord! Have I been wrong to wear watches off the bone and slightly turned down on my wrist for years? Perhaps it's time to return a vest and pocket watch for me.

    "If I buy this watch, when will I wear it?" has killed most watch purchases for me before they even start. The problem is I have so many watches that anything I might want to buy already has a analogue in my collection thus making the purchase redundant. Then there's the fact that every watch purchase from basically the beginning has been a lie to myself. _If I buy this watch I will wear it all the time and for years_ yet my satisfaction always has an expiration date and I find myself eyeing the next one. That alone stops me frequently, knowing it won't change how I feel. What I need, really need, is that one watch that satisfies all considerations and that I never lose interest in and frankly, I don't believe it even exists.

    Just came upon this via UA-cam's algorithms, a bit of an Hercule Poirot, but as the evidence accumulated the 'culprit' was fairly easy to identify, albeit dammed difficult to prove! The big ? for me was that the boutique valued their reputation at less than £3.5k. The" disappearing employee" was almost farcical. Great commentary, if the Magic Roundabout returns, the job is yours!

    My current dream setup for watches as of right now would be: a Sinn 856 UTC for every day, a Nomos Clubsport 39 in smoke as my baby and an Apple Watch Ultra 2 to trash around for anything fitness. And to be clear: I'm open to wearing two watches at the same time like the Sinn & the Apple Watch on a hike for example.

    I typically wear off the bone but do note that if it drifts onto the 'bone', it makes bending one's wrist upwards awkward as the crown tends to dig in to the top of one's wrist. I would note that your 'bone' does look slightly sore to my eyes !

    A few months back in London I had a guy walk passed me, my wife and 2 year old son. He saw my watch on my wrist and all I was only wearing was a Tudor Black Bay 58, but it clearly caught his eye. He had his hand in his hoodie pocket and clearly had something large in it. As soon as he walked passed me I turned around to look at him, he also turned around and started walking back towards us. As he was walking towards us he pulled out an 8 inch knife. We very luckily happened to be walking passed a shop, I immediately pushed my wife and stroller into the store as quickly as possible, removed the watch from my wrist and shoved it into the stroller. I told my wife to take the stroller to the end of the store and away from me. I turned around and waited to see if he would come in, I don’t know what I was planning to be honest, but in the moment I felt it was important to be in front of the store cameras. My heart was pounding out of my chest, thankfully he never came into the store and I didn’t lose my watch or get attacked. We waited inside the store for 10 mins or so and I then went out to check if he had gone. I couldn’t see him, so we left. I haven’t lived in the UK for 10 years now, I live in Singapore. In contrast I happily wear all my watches here including my Rolex’s and the thought of getting robbed has never crossed my mind. I thought wearing my Tudor in the UK would have been low risk, but turns out I was wrong. I wore my g shock the rest of our trip 😂 I’m just grateful I had the awareness having grown up in a rough neighbourhood to notice the guy and his intensions early on. And I’m also grateful I don’t live in London anymore 😂

    I don't like how my watches tilt and sit when wearing them on the bone. They always look slightly askew. I prefer wearing mine just behind the bone, and since that's what I'm used too, I guess it's also what I find most comfortable.

  • @JustAboutTime
    @JustAboutTime 19 днів тому

    ‘On the bone’ feels so wrong. Like, how is that even possible to be comfortable?!? Every time you’d bend your wrist you’d feel increased pressure of the watch as you bend. Sure, you CAN wear it that way .. but it’s akin to wearing your trousers around your thighs rather than waist. If it’s too tight in the ‘correct 😏’ possition then just wear it a little looser. So I’m most definitely an ‘above the bone’ kind of guy. As that is the most natural position for me and affords my wrist full movement. But, as I always tell my customers, it’s whatever feels comfortable to you. (But I’m still gonna shake my head at those who wear it wrong when they ain’t looking 🤦‍♂️)

    I don't understand why ( and I am well aware of the " relativity" of the word) Rich people are always so cheap or do you just say thease things for affect? You seem to own a lot of Very expensive watches , that I am sure you have a Cell Phone with the time on it or could easily buy a water proof ,always light up Digital watch for a few dollars ! So why not just admit that you ENJOY your watch collection the way many Rich Women & ( some Men) own Jewelry with rage gems ect.? I have viewed many of your videos and you are always making up some excuse for buying & then complaining about the price of them ! The way you did with ( the people if you honestly care about) your Parents. I don't understand it ? If you like something and can afford it ENJOY !

    I like to wear my watches slightly on the loose side. Gives that slightly laid back "sprezzatura" look. So my watches are going from on and off the bone alle time... I would say 50/50. I think that s the best way to go about it.

  • @Zotrax1946
    @Zotrax1946 21 день тому

    Off course it’s obvious 🤷🏼‍♂️. 2:49 look at where the crown is positioned- a slight raise of the palm would dig it into the wrist.. and it restricts the overall movement of that hand- you probably would need a jingle of that watch wearing hand, on an upright angle- before doing anything comfortably. Just my humble opinion. Can’t argue with personal preferences.

    I wear very loosely in these summer months, I live in souther europe. The watch can walk over the bone when I put it, but 15 minutes later it is so sweaty, it doesnt move around at all. And it sits left of the bone. I tried forcin it over the bone and it doesnt make a difference as long as i am not doing anything. As soon as my hands are put in motion, the watch goes to the left cuz that is where it makes the least pressure on the hand. I understand wearing a thin dress watch with a leather strap under cuff on the bone or right of it to make it more accessible, but for bulkier watches i see no benefits and a lot of potential discomfort. Allthrough people in colder climate get to wear ahirts with cuffs and its not so unbearably hot, so it could be different
