HOW TO REMOVE BAMBOO ROOTS FROM THE GROUND
You might as well rent an auger and drill baby drill. You'll be garden ready in a few hours. this is the MIke Tyson training method of removal.
What about the part where the black thing ataches… i think mine is broken
Thank you, that is excellent demo. I have tried so hard removing rhizome of bamboo with a hoe, twisting and only the smaller bits would come out. I will buy a long heavy wrecking bar and try what you do. I hope I have the physical strength to manage it.
Bloody brilliant thanks! Life is back on track now 😂
Great job but it will be back in a few years
Very nice. Thank you.
Great video, however, probably for many, the steam handle breaks because the valve is wearing and it is very hard to operate. So your new handle will probably break again. Well, this was my case at least.
Thanks for watching. Yes I suspect in some cases a stiff valve can put pressure on even a new handle..
Thanks so much for showing this method. The bar works and you need something that strong to make an impact, but it is still a horrible slow slog nibbling away at the clumps of a huge bamboo planted more than 20 years ago! I found the bar and a mattock was a good combination.
A Milwaukee ax Sawzall blades 12inch 3tpi will cut the roots even in dirt. That damn blade made a nice cut in the fence post concrete when I accidently tried to cut it. It also helps to use a 2x4 under the pry bar as a fulcrum. That said, the bamboo I deal with is way bigger than what you have. The shoots are 2 inches in diameter and the root balls are hard to lift. I would use a pry bar like you did for that kind of bamboo.
Thank you!! You provided the part number at the beginning of the video which I hadn't been able to find anywhere else. Have ordered and will come back for further viewing. Awesome.
Glad it helped!
Didn’t show me how to fix a coffee machine 6 months ago?
Top man. Great video, really useful - thanks!
If U have a better idea let me know
Ive to move a a row of them probably about above 30feet best way is to hire a root grinder every thing else is to slow
Juat moved in to a house and trying to battle bambo looks like the neighbors started this mess a long time ago now its up to me to try and save this yard of this nasty shit
Thank you. Had a pool pump standing ideal for 6 months. Saw your video, got a new sensor and was able to replace. Now its running.. Excellent!
Great stuff, thanks for watching
Great idea. I had to use a grubbing axe that is at least an axe you dont mind blunting and potentially breaking. Bamboo roots really are tough to get out. The wrecking bar is a great idea as is water pressure. If no pressure hose, I reckon its worth soaking the ground prior to working. Good advice.
In my opinion the roots will grow back in a year. The bamboo plants on the other side of the plants will grow and push down the fence in a few years.
Yeah so I have absolutely a massive patch of golden bamboo roots to dig up. Have a excavator coming eventually to rip them up. I will use my wrecking bar for the smaller roots on the outside diameter of the patch.
It will take you a week to clear that area. Call in the bobcat.
Great vid and input thank u very much.👍
I thought you were out of shape until I tried to remove my own bamboo, and now I know how hard it is. Thanks for the tip, it's the only one that worked. I used a block to help with the lever. 👍🏻
Thank you! Followed your instructions and fixed it!
Great stuff, thanks for watching
Thank you sir, you are a legend!
Internet says you can see usb Playlist on b50
Very informative-thank you
This was such a helpful video! Thank you so much for your efforts and all the great information!!😊
thanks excellent
They say if you cover the ground with black plastic youl kill bambo as it’s starved of sunlight
Thankfully most root in l foot of surface but it fills the surface layer with a rigid lattice and kills out everything else.
Great instructions, gave me the confidence to replace the steam control myself, but misses the obvious… first try easing off the broken steam handle before disassembling the coffee machine - this could save you a lot of work (as it did me!)
The power saw method does work. I even use a blunt blade. Removing bamboo from containers and the ground. Cut down the bamboo. Dig as much soil away to start then start cutting away at the roots. Use force to pull up the roots from the soil once cut. Recheck the cleared area for stray roots. It’s always a hard job. With the pressure wash you make a mess and mash up the form of the soil.
Do you have a problem with water getting in the tub at the bottom ? When it rains
Good question, I actually put 2 large drainage pipes for the lower ground area, for this reason. it works great. Great stuff, thanks for watching
Thank you for all of your suggestions!
1 pound of road salt per square foot. Be careful of run off. Don’t listen to strangers.
Le recomiendo un martillo demoledor con un cincel de forma de barra para evitar el esfuerzo excesivo.
Seen my Bamboo send roots out 60 feet under ground. The horizontal root comes in about 9" sections ,each capable of starting a new bamboo system all by itself. Trick is to lop off a bamboo stalk about 3-5 foot high and within 30 second pour a half teaspoon of Roundup into the "cup" of the stalk. That will kill the root for about 5ft in each direction. Diesel, gas or bleach will kill the stalk and the 18" long section of root on ether side. The best mechanical removal method is a strong tractor with a 12" deep plow. Or cross cutting the area with a trench digger after stalks have been cut.
You just saved my day!
I have dug out all the clumps of bamboo. They are gone, but the thin thread roots remain. Do I need to deal with them? Eg with boiling water?
Great video Mate!
works well combination of water blaster and cut squares, and then remove with the bar .... job done !
How long do these last before total replacement is needed?
Thank you for showing us this method.
My son just completed the removal of clumping bamboo using this method. The bar actually bent! It was very heavy work but it took about 3 hours. The area was 2 ft wide by 3 feet long. I planted one single bamboo 4 years ago and that is how much it spread. I tried the salt, vinegar and soap method to no avail. Now I will tackle the papyrus which is also very hellish in its agression. My son will use the same method.
what brand is this pool
Thank you for part 2
I had exactly the same model from new and it had no such retainer ring. Also the screws on the back needs a T20H driver as the screws have a tiny central pin. A simple star driver will not fit
You don’t need to take it apart. The handle pulls off. It took me less than a minute to fit
depends if the original one left broken parts and the spring closer part inside or not... if bits are left inside on the spindle the new handle won't be able to go as deep on the spindle as it should and will therefore in turn break off easier...
The machine from new had never been repaired before. I searched two solutions, the first was a tear down, the second was to simply pull, which I tried to, and it worked. There was no clip holding it in or any broken pieces.
@@enthusiasticone5133 yes. that's what I'm saying though - it's quite possible that the old spring retainer part of the old handle will get stuck inside on the spindle and if that happens you need to take the cover off the sides to remove it. (which is actually very easy anyway and takes only 5 minutes). to be honest it's a design flaw with the stiff spindle and plastic knob handle parts.
There was no spring retainer
@@enthusiasticone5133 all the steam knobs have a little spring on the end afaik maybe it's inside on the spindle
Hi there, How are you? I saw your videos, your video quality is good but not properly SEO. Your SEO score is very poor. That's why your channel is not growing organically. SEO means Search Engine Optimization. I think you understand, for views, subscribers, and comments your video should be ranked on top of UA-cam, Proper SEO that means keyword session ( low competitor keyword selection) can help your channel to rank on the top. Thank You
Ok thanks , the midlle button can be changed ;)
