I worked for Tom Foster, I had a Music Program Upstairs and I played there a lot. Ralph Nadar was there 2 times. We had a 8 hour Concert using Solar Power From CYRUS Mobile Solar Generator .McFosters Natural Kind Cafe Made History In Omaha For The Environmental Movement "EARTH DAY OMAHA" Now I am a Customer Of This Wonderful Bank. I might even Play Some Music there Again, YOU NEVER KNOW..

Our historic old Post Office here in Buffalo faced possible demolition after the USPS closed it in 1970. However the idea of preserving, updating, and making the old Post Office into a downtown campus for the community college. Momentum for saving the Post Office grew rapidly and by the end of 1981, our old Post Office was opened as a community college campus and is successfully functioning today.
I hauled Cattle into Omaha Stockyards back in the 1980s. 10-4.
This was a marvel of architecture. We do not appreciate our history and beauty of old buildings. Taking down the Fontenelle Hotel was not smart either. Beautiful building.
I remember well how upset my mom was when they tore this beautiful old building down. Omaha does not have a good record of preservation unfortunately. Two additional examples of this record are the Woodman of the World Building and Jobber's Canyon.
My Mom was, too. She talked about it often. People just don't value the craftsmanship of old buildings. I currently work right across the street from where the post office used to stand. I'm in that box-like federal building that used to have those ugly blue panels, now remodeled but still box like.
Hence the nickname Omaha has had for years, "wrecking ball happy".

I miss the activist nature of Landmarks. It’s current form doesn’t seem to have that same ummph-although I’m grateful for their work too!
