Bulletpoint Mounting Solutions RubiGrid JK Dash Platform Review
What light bar brackets are those?
They are the Auxbeam brackets… Not sure if they make them anymore or not. I’ve seen others that are identical on Amazon
What a great "in-depth review". Great job covering features of the HEIGH10
Hey bro are those the standard 7cm extensions that came with the bullet mounts or did you have to get longer ones?
I purchased a couple of the longer ones…
Its that jl
No a JK.
Do they go white?
They have a white but it has a slight pink/purple hue to it. They do have a newer model out now… not sure if they fixed that or not
Awesome video brother
Thanks 👍 buddy!
Gonna try doin some more shorts… some of them I want to put on are two long for shorts 👎

After having this awing for a while what is your long term review of this awning. I have smittybuilt tent but trying to decide between the OVS vs the smittybuilt 270 awing
I apologize for the delayed response… I’m loving the awning. New issues with it and I did end up adding some LED lights to the bars to add some light in the evening around the sitting area. I went the Smittybilt awning since I already had the Overlander XL tent and I knew what to expect from the company. I did looks at the OVS ones at the time when I was researching them but never got a chance to see them in person
So its been over a year since you did this video. Any regrets on the unit? I'm looking at it for my '22 Tacoma. I am also wanting to upgrade my 2015 Wrangler's head unit at some point. I'm interested in the Stinger, but will need to research it a bit more. For the microphone, did you install the one that comes with the radio or do you use the built in one on the front of the head unit?
No regrets on the head unit. Love it. Wish you could use the mic from the Bluetooth. I had to run the mic it came with to utilize the Bluetooth. I wish I had some of the control features it has for the new JLs and Rubicons though. But my Jk is a lil old for that. With that being said your Jk may not be compatible for those features as well. But even without those features it’s still a great unit and I have no complaints and the install was fairly easy and made simple using there YT vids as you install. Worst part of the install was removing the dash.
Great video and explanation. I just looked at my lo al dealer on purchasing one today. One more thing....did u find that 2 mounting brackets was enough to handle the weight once driving around and /offroad with it? I'm just curious if I should get a third plate fabricated for extra strength? Thoughts?
Thanks! On my awning I have three mounting brackets. I’m not sure about two brackets… I assume if you had them spaced evenly they would be fine. I haven’t had any issues with the awning at all while offroading or driving. It stays pretty solid and no movement. But again I have three brackets. Was the awning used? Should come with three. I would call Smittybilt customer service or have the dealer call and get the missing bracket in for you. Jus to be on the safe side…
Are you able to put a RTT on this rack?
Yes, I have the Smittybilt Overlander XL RTT that I use.
Almost had it all to yourself !!
Early bird gets the worm…
💪🏻😊👍🏼
🙌🙌🙌👣👣👣
Have you had any issues with putting the rods in for the window awnings of the tent? I just mounted my 270⁰, and haven't been out with the awning and the tent together yet, but that was my only concern so far. Looking forward to using this, great coverage.
No I have not had any issues on the awning side with the window rods. However on the window facing the front where my lights are I’ve had issues with the rods. I’ve since moved the lights but have not had the tent or awning on yet. Will be putting the tent and awning on in the next week or two.
Where can I buy the mounting brackets for the awning? Do you have a link? Thanks
The mounting brackets come with the awning… If you need jus the brackets for the awning I would contact Smittybilt directly… www.smittybilt.com I had to contact them for the hardware and brackets because the box was destroyed when it arrived and the hardware had been lost in transit… It looked like the box had been kicked the entire way from the warehouse to my house… 😄
Wow, just wow 🤩! Your videos are always so mesmerizing, I can't wait to see more.
Thank you!
Great video! Can you put me onto the wheel well covers, the rack and the bumper on your Jeep? Thanks!
Thanks! Roof rack: www.smittybilt.com/product-skus/smittybilt-src-roof-rack-76716/ looks as if they may have changed the design from mine according to the pic. Front bumper: www.smittybilt.com/product-skus/smittybilt-jk-src-front-stinger-with-d-ring-mounts-black-76524/ Rear bumper: www.smittybilt.com/products/smittybilt-src-gen2-rear-bumpers/ bumper I have is an older model this is the closets to what I have which has changed dramatically. Fender flares: www.extremeterrain.com/barricade-rivet-flares-jk-j102427.html Hope that helps. I have upgraded my bumper since I posted the video to: www.smittybilt.com/product-skus/smittybilt-xrc-atlas-rear-bumper-and-tire-carrier-black-76896/
Now they have a 12-pack, it always seems to happen, they come out with something better, just as soon as you order it.
😂 I know! Never fails does it… lol
Great system BUT MAN no wireless Apple CarPlay and 5G in 2023 it’s a bummer specially for $1.1k also no camera and sat radio included in the default package.
I agree wireless Apple CarPlay would definitely be a bonus.
@@TrailSquatch Not bonus but a must at this price range.
Hell yeah, where's Daryl
By the time Darrell showed up… it was sloppy and muddy… states he didn’t want mud in his fur… 🤣
❤👍🏻
Thanks for the review … I’ve seen a lot of Heigh10 vids and most are pretty good but you did a nice job of covering a few things the others didn’t … well done!
Thank you and glad it was helpful!
Nice looking awning. Something that’s on my list . I’ll keep this in mind.
I did do a low profile LED lighting addition to it as well…
Great video! Going to install my own fumoto drain now :).
Subscribed 😎
Thank you! Appreciate the support!
Where did you run the hdmi cable?
I ran it from the head unit into the glove box and have it coiled in there. I can still close the glove box when I’m using the cable connected to a tablet or phone. I purchased the hdmi to apple lightining cable. www.amazon.com/dp/B093T312D5/?tag=thetrailsquat-20
Thanks! Just ordered my stinger yesterday and wanted to run this option. I appreciate the info!
@@bryandelacruz4672 congrats! You'll enjoy it. The install videos on StingerOffroads page are easy to follow.
Is carplay wireless?
No. You have to have your phone plugged in to use CarPlay.
Does the hdmi come with the kit? If not, could you send a link to where ya got that for the stinger?
No HDMI kit with unit. I jus purchased a six foot HDMI cable and connected.
About three years ago, I installed a Smittybuilt SRC rear bumper, and it's a solid, no-nonsense hunk of metal that I am very happy with (especially compared to the worthless plastic stock bumper that my 2016 JK came with). Last month, I bought the Smittybuilt Rock Crawler Roof Rack(# 76716), figuring that I wouldn't have any problems installing it. I mean, how can a company as experienced as Smittybuilt have two products that didn't fit well together? I was encouraged when the two boxes arrived, as the pieces were solid and strong. More importantly, the installation instructions said that you can use the existing two large bolts (on the frame) "where an aftermarket rear bumper is secured". Unfortunately, that claim was wrong. I called the 800 support number, and they said that I could drills holes in the body instead (as you did). However, there is no way that the body attachment would be as strong as the attachment to the frame (I don't even have to be a mechanical engineer to prove it: the cross-sectional area of the four bolts attached to the frame are almost twice that of the two bolts attached to the body). I ended up cutting a 2" corner out of my Smittybuilt SRC full rear bumper on both ends with a cutoff grinder to make room for the rack's rear attach points on the frame. I am happy with the solid roof rack. But I'm annoyed with Smittybuilt that they made such a stupid design error that caused me an extra hour of work.
I was not impressed with that either… Also when I had to redrill the holes for the front passenger side… Quality control was definitely asleep at the wheel when they shipped that piece. All and all I’m happy with mine but I am always watching that rear drilled area because it is not as strong as mounting into the frame like I wanted to.
Question, Your links above. Does this include everything you need to do the initial install? Also flush mount correct? A couple of the reviewers stated this is NOT the flush mount version.
This is the flush mount version. The package you purchase if it’s the flush mount or the floating comes with everything to install. There are other optional accessories to add to the package like cameras, xm radio antenna connector etc… the ones in the links I’ve provided are plug and play. If you’d like to order direct from Stinger you can use “TrailSquatch10” for 10% Off your order as well.
@@TrailSquatch gotcha thanks. I just noticed two of the links go to same radio also.
Links may have changed since I posted the video… Are you looking for the flush mount?
@@TrailSquatch yep. Flush with nav card and an extra camera for front. Thanks so much for your help.
Happy to help! Stinger has some great east to follow install videos to assist you with the install.
Is it easy to remove the screen? I bring my car from time to time to the garage I don't want them mechanics messing around with my system..
I found it a lil bit of a pain it’s easy enough to remove but my worry is the plastic clips being worn from constant removal. I think if you purchased the floating screen mount instead of the flush mount like I purchased it may be easier to remove with less issue.
@@TrailSquatch Okay thanks. That would be too much of a hassle each time removing it..
Did this work with ur stock sub?
Yes it did. I have not replaced any of the stock speakers. It also increased the audio quality of the stock speakers.
I would get this if it has offroad guages and vehicle guages.
There is some other features with the unit if you have a JL if I recall correctly.
What's your thoughts on the quality of this so far? I've been looking at the ovs system but it really looks similar.
The quality so far is good. No issues with the awning. One upgrade I did do to the awning was add led lights to two of the bars for lighting.
Glad you got it finally. Looks like a easy install. Great video!!!
I put the new video up jus for you buddy… I know you were missin em… And yes very easy install, manual was also better then the last ones I did of there’s
Great video! Odd question do you still have pieces to mount it to the rear frame?
No I don’t. I gave them to a friend of mine.
Do you have to be parked in order to use hdmi input?
No. Works while in drive.
@@TrailSquatch how do i get it too play the image i could hear the audio but no video playing it says caution driver is prohibited by law for viewing etc etc
So I jus did an update on mine… and I’m getting the same thing when I’m in drive.
Great video, I have a question about the cover. Do you need to zip it or is it just the straps? Thank you Edit, I figured it out. Thank you
Thank you. You’ll want to zip it to keep dust and moisture out. You’ll also want to use the straps to help hold the cover while traveling.
Awesome tutorial dude!!!! Most everyone just talk so much lol One thing, what are the measurements in the folding position and measurements between the rails?? No one has that answer, even smitty bilt.
Thank you! In the folded position it’s approximately 11 inches high add 2 inches where the ladder is in the middle, about 49 inches wide and around 77 inches long with the cover on. Each rail is approximately 6.75 inches from each edge on the bottom and in between each rail is about 30.25 inches. Hope that answers your question. Sorry for the delay in response.
Oh I want one!
You won’t be disappointed…
Couple questions: If I have sirius already set up in my current jeep do I still have to purchase the extras? and does navigation work without the card? Thanks!
You’ll have to purchase the plug-in adapter for the head unit for your Sirius. The iGo Navigation installed in the head unit will need the SD card. However if your are using apple carplay or android auto the navigation off either will work while your phone is plugged in. Hope that helps.
I have to ask what is the length of the cell phone holder that’s left of the head unit. I’m having a hard time debating what length to get I do have a 10 inch head unit that kind of sticks up a bit but I’m not sure if the standard is going to be good enough or I should just go ahead and get the long one I’ll kinda have it like how you’re getting and I’m considering getting the Ruby great instead of the metal talk to wall mount that they have on the website
Depends on the phone and case your running. I’m using an iPhone 12 Pro Max w/ and Otterbox. The XL fits 3.25" - 4" wide and up to 7/8" thick. The XL also fits an iPhone 11 with an off brand hardcase like an otterbox. I’d recommend the XL if your running the bigger hard cases on your phone. The arm portion I’m using is the 7cm for the phone mounts. I believe the one I use for the Garmin is the 10cm arm. Hope that answers your question.
@@TrailSquatch yes I know I have to get the XL I have a 13 pro max with case. I meant the length of the mount not the phone holder part. The rod I would say. Sorry I’m having a major brain fart.
@@JeepGirl0821 all good lol. I had a long day been out on the road for a few days when I saw you message. So the arm piece (“rod” portion lol) I have there is the 7cm
@@TrailSquatch gotcha thanks
That's sick dude! Looks like your ready for some overnight camping!

great advice. thanks brother!!
Happy to help!
Good video. Appreciate it. What kind of led lights/mounts are those mounted on the rear of your rack?
The rack has two mounting areas and I attached the mount that comes with the POD to the rack. The lights are the Auxbeam 4” 18w each Floods. Here’s a link if your interested. www.amazon.com/dp/B00T62RK1U/?tag=trailsquatch 20 I’m an Amazon affiliate so I do make a commission off qualifying purchases.
