how is it reliability wise? have you had to do anything on: timing chain intake manifold dsg service/megatronic water pump replacement or have you just been servicing it? i’m assuming it’s the 1.2 CBZ engine.

That has nothing to do with the flaws you mentioned. The way you designed that "port" is not a port at all. You essentially not even using that port. That sub is just playing free air lol. But good try I guess. It's good to see okes trying.

A ported box can be tricky to get right on the first attempt. That port is big, and the internal volume of the box would be a bit small. So it won't give the proper bass. The best way to experiment, build a 53-55l sealed box, and get a 3inch pvc(gutter downpipe) flare both ends(the 'port' will reduce the internal airspace, as will the woofer as well), and you need to experiment with lengths(300mm in length for starters. Since tuning of the port will determine how the box performs. eg, since your box is too small, for a ported box, and the port is that huge. It would be tuned very high. And wouldn't play the mid punchy bass notes a sealed box gives you.

For ported enclosures you might need to increase the gain on your amp. A ported enclosure emphasizes loud and deep bass whereas a sealed enclosure focuses more on quality and "punchy" bass. Personally I prefer a sealed enclosure as you have more space, quality bass, and your radios "loudness" setting has a more noticeable effect. Hope this helps anyone that's trying to decide!
