While we honor our Japanese roots, we live and operate here in the US. We are involved in every step of the manufacturing process. By crafting our garments in our own factory, we can keep a very close eye on quality control. There is nothing more important to us than making selvedge denim of the highest quality while building strong bonds with the people we work with. Japanese denim, American b...

Good production
hello how are you? Friend, I have a chemical industry here in Brazil, and I would like to enter the textile industry, I currently work with rubber, I want to expand my field, and I think you can help me with that! Do you do consultancy? Can we talk better?
I’ve been washing my jeans like this since 1995. Cold water with light soap. Keeps your jeans looking new for many months.
Seems straight forward. Maybe a general cycle in washer with mild detergent. Like woolite. Air dry no heat in the dryer.
Cool video.
Been wanting those copper demins since October, but they just haven't in stock in my size at 36. It's a bit disheartening they won't be in stock at all until the one season you really don't want to wear that color in. I wonder if they're very popular and/or limited production. But either way, they look great and I hope that once they do return, they'll stay in stock in time for autumn. Also, still hoping for a deep violet ripper. CS was kind enough to give a note to the design team, but I guess it wasn't profitable enough since it hasn't seen the light of day within those 2 or 3 years since. I also want to say that I love your terrifically soft chinos. I also love your 10.50z denim despite crotch blowouts consistently happening a year after wear (owned 2 pairs that tore at the crotch after exactly a year. Darning has only done so much for the second pair-extending its lifespan by about 2 months-and it's about darned out at this point. This is a huge bummer at their price but no other jeans fit like a second skin like these do, are as comfortable as these, and look as good as these imo. But I do wear them 5/7 days of the week on average). I also love your shirts as they're as comfortable as a blanket and fit me very well. I have a large drop-off from shoulders to waist so neither off-the-rack nor mtm shirts or jackets fit me, and I'm nowhere near the thought of being able to afford custom tailored clothing, so it's nice to strike gold and find quality shirts that actually fit me. I just wanted to say I really enjoy the products your brand releases and that I hope the copper Scissors have greater production numbers once they return because that color is unique and your denim is amazing. Love what you all do.
Where can I find those hangers?
After detergent we should soak in clear water and i will never twist my jeans, just fold and push on it to remove water.
Almost exactly how I wash mine, appreciated the tip to pat at the end to reduce wrinkles!
USA Ohio
Very good idea! So smart
The best denim I’ve ever worn!
Best value for selvedge jeans. I like the simplicity, the selvedge on the coin pocket and the comfort of the stretch. What I don't like is the slant belt loop at the back.
🤘 P r o m o s m
Apparently, these jeans turn you into a super-cool rock and roller.
I do it better 🧽👌
God, please, stop with the cringe music. I'm here to learn how to clean my jeans, not destroy my eardrums
I got one of your flannels at the Goodwill bins in Portland Oregon. Yay!
But the first 2 are the exact same. You just interchanged steps 1 and 2.
They’re not
Thanks for this!
Question for all: As a rule, I thought all new clothes were meant to be washed before wear from factory gunk, shipping grime, dressing room previous wearers, etc. I keep reading no washing until after lots of wearing, which seems gross to Me. Is there a way to do a first wash before ever wearing and then go a long time before second wash?
Just use cloth wipes to gently wipe off inside where you skin contacts if you are sensitive. Each time you wash denim it loses the color so without wearing and have wrinkles to form, you won't get a nice fades of denim. Or if pre-washing really bothers you, suit yourself.
I’ve always heard the same thing and followed the same advice…to wash new clothes once before wearing. I’m a little ocd about germs and others trying on the clothes beforehand too. So I’ll wash it once if I bought it from a store. But if I ordered it online from a company, I’m pretty sure they came straight from the factory or warehouse so I don’t wash them. Also, I’ve read the same thing, that you shouldn’t wash for about 6 months to a year. But I’ve read from other so called experts that you can wash whenever you want to, just don’t do it too often. So, I don’t think there really is a set way to wear and take care of these kinds of denim. They’re just guidelines to extend the life of these jeans.
Both my pairs of selvedge jeans came from the thrift store and I always wash once before wearing, it just makes sense sanitary wise and I haven’t noticed a single difference, assuming it’s a gentle wash I’m sure it will be fine
I just got my first pair of Nudie Jeans last week. Before I wore it, I soaked it inside-out in a basin with some vinegar (no particular calculation) for 30 mins, hand rinsed it. And soaked in some water with organic gentle laundry powder for another 30 mins and rinsed a few times and hung it up dripping in a shady and windy place. It really helped to soften the denim and there was minimal indigo bleed. I just can't go without a hand wash.
This is hilarious! For god"s sake they're just jeans!
Well just jeans that can have a price tag of 500+ 😅
Raw denim has to be taken care of diff to prewashed jeans, your mentality is the same as people that think target $5 tees are the same as a Prada tee
Tell us you wear Goodwill Wranglers without telling us you wear Goodwill Wranglers
This video is not for you. Not sure how you ended up here but this is a video about how to wash raw denim. If you’re not familiar with raw denim then you don’t need to be watching this
Yeah this videos for people like me currently wearing a pair of $365 Iron Heart jeans.
Are these denims worth the price tag?
10000000%. The type of jeans you’ll have for 10+ years, don’t lose feel or fit. Like I have jeans and jean jackets my dad wore in 1970’s and I feel like the jeans im buying now will be the same for my kids
(late response) honestly it’s only if you have the money. kinda obvious but like, if you have enough to spare then fs get it. if you kind of on a budget then honestly it’s not the biggest deal cas you can still get good quality jeans for cheaper
There's 2 camps on selvedge, the first wants them to be as stiff as a teenagers sock and should give u a rush and cuts wearing them. The 2nd believes it's about the quality of materials and craftsmanship that goes into it but it's ok if they're also comfortable. I have N&F elephant x which are 19oz denim and stiff as a board but the color is rich and beautiful. I also have 2 pairs of katos and love them bc they're like butta, i could freaking sleep in them they're so comfortable. So ya in my opinion they're totally worth it. It is nice to have both kinds tho, the stiff and the soft.
May I use a plastic basin of the same size, and an "eco" washing powder for color clothes ( hypoallergenic, without perfume, phosphates, bleach, etc. ) ?
yes
Should you rinse in fresh water after the wash with the soap?

Khaki looks like it fits looser. Are they the same tag size? Should I expect certain colors to fit differently?
Not 🇮🇹alians do it better ,🇯🇵 nese do it much better 😉
There is no way those could be a good pair of denim jeans if they require a special spray, and washing technique. Good denim can be washed in a washing machine.
You totally can out them in a washing machine like any other pair of jeans, they're not going to evaporate or turn into dust. This video is for those who wish to preserve their denim in a certain condition, like dry cleaning a suit to keep it looking new.
washing in the wash machine will fade the indigo color, I wouldn't want to lose the deep indigo color. So I never throw my selvage jeans in a machine, just soak it then hang dry, 2-3 times a year, that's it. The result of the fade can not be duplicated. Denimhead was here.
Ignorance strikes again
Raw denim gets destroyed in a washing machine, this isn't prewashed, at least know what your talking about before you say sumn stupid
Good materials require more care if u wanna preserve them and keep them looking great for years. It's just like with good leather shoes, alot of people do alot to maintain them as opposed to just cheap leather sneakers you get for $50. No one is gonna go through the trouble to preserve cheap quality materials, but if you're spending hundreds of dollars+, then you want it to last as long as possible and still look and feel good so that you don't have to buy a new pair often at all.
Whenever this advertisement pops up, before my youtube videos, I start trying to look around for that great washed type I jacket and its just now that I realize the jacket in this commercial is a portrayal of what the jacket might look like after years of breaking in and dedicated wear. ...but then I notice that the washed type I doesn't have any meaningful arms combs or unique indigo wear, as would happen with raw denim that conforms to its wearer, and I am again forced to consider that this jacket, which takes center-stage in this advertisement, is not something that Kato is actually selling right now. Anyway. Would Hiroshi Kato PLEASE consider developing a raw, black type III jacket w/ hand warmers and 2 or 4-way stretch??? I don't want to dole out $600 for Outlier's shank and, quite honestly, I think you guys could make something that would be awesome because it would actually fade and break in amazingly. I know type 3s are kind of overplayed right now but there is a gap in the market for a decent, slim-fitting raw black version which might be extremely versatile and travel with me anywhere I'd go.
