Ceiling tile wall angle using crown molding with hidden LED lights.
This video covers my process for designing and installing a crown molding wall angle. Instead of using traditional wall angle and exposed LED lights, a custom wood wall angle is built up using scrap wood and crown molding. I start with a sample of each part, nail them together, and then use the practice pieces to set up all my cuts. LED lights are hidden behind the crown in an angled recess that allows them to shine on the wall without being seen.

They turned out great, but not without problems. I'm just starting out trying to forge metal and every project teaches me something interesting! Did you just wing the design of the arch? Or use a specific curve?

      I used an idea from a UA-cam video about drawing a gothic arch, and modified it to my dimensions. I can’t remember the exact video. If you have specific dimensions, send them to me, and I’ll try figure out a pattern for you. Thank you 🙏

    I'm trying to work on something similar, how did you pick the roof pitch and over hangs?

    • @templeofheat4445
      @templeofheat4445 3 роки тому

      The overall height of the building had to be 16ft or less. I wanted the steepest pitch possible. The front pitch was 24/12 and the main pitch was 16/12. The overhangs couldn’t come off the building any further because they would be to low. Good luck

    Just watching your video. Yes, some would agree you are not doing traditional blacksmith work. Others would argue the blacksmith was the most advanced technology. I see no reason to say you are not blacksmiths go because you use modern tools. I am sure the same was said of the first power hammer. Ps put some silicone under your anvil, big box in a tube type, to reduce the ring

    As a beginning blacksmith myself, I would recommend watching Christ Centered Ironworks most recent video on making tongs. There is something to be said for learning the hard way, but learning from experienced people is also a good thing. Keep up the good work and God bless you.

    My wife wants me to build her a she-shed with cathedral or gothic windows. Your videos are very clear and informative, thank you. I just have a couple of questions. 1. Instead of using screws for your clamping blocks, would 16gax1 1/4 brad nails and glue work as well? 2. Do you think cedar would work as well as the fir?. 3. How do you frame the wall for the window frame? There isn't much information available either online or in books. I am now a subscriber.

    • @templeofheat4445
      @templeofheat4445 3 роки тому

      Yes the nails and glue will work, but you have to let the glue dry 24 hrs before using the jig. Cedar would be perfect. About the framing: frame a rectangular opening (with a header). Then install arched or angular brackets to fill in the area next to the arched window frame. I wound build the window frame and then frame the wall around it!?! Hope this isn’t confusing. Thank you for the comment!

      @@templeofheat4445 Thank you. I'm thinking of building one window frame as a template now. That should help with the blocking. I can start playing around with that after hay season when I have more free time.

    This is fantastic. I can't believe your series on this has so few views, I guess, unsurprisingly, building gothic windows is not all that common. I am going to use what I learned to build a replica, I have 2 gothic windows in my 1800s attic, and a former third one was replaced with a cheap vinyl flanged window installed on the inside face of the opening. We are finishing the attic and this is part of that project. Thanks!

    • @templeofheat4445
      @templeofheat4445 3 роки тому

      Thank you Jim. I’m new to youtube so it’s gonna be awhile before i get any views! Hopefully someday there’ll be some better numbers. This type of window will be perfect for an unheated attic. Keep watching because the completed project videos will be out soon. Good luck with your project.
