Slay the Spire: Can you Kill the Heart with One Card of Each Color? (Watcher 5 Card Challenge A9)

Part II of the Five Card Challenge series. Now with the Watcher, we are challenging the heart on A9.
* Five Cards (one each color)
* One Relic: Sundial
Victory? Yes
A20? No
No Damage? No
No Potions? Yes
No Upgrades? Yes
My goal is to complete a Five Card Challenge with each character using a unique relic and set of cards each time.
Please let me know if you have any suggestions for sets of 5 cards that can accomplish all the optional challenges above.

I did this run back in August of 2020, which was my year of playing tons of Spelunky HD. My goal was to make it into the top 100 of Spelunky speedrunners on MossRanking.com before the end of that year, and I achieved my goal. To complete this series, I challenged the Corrupt Heart with the people's champ: CLAW. Hayao vs Resolve - 3rd Strike - an EVO 2024 moment

Resolve had been effectively controlling space with the aegis reflector earlier in the match, but in the final round Hayao walked right up to the reflector and stood there before closing out the set. The camera dipped a little when I got caught up in the moment.

Just for fun, I thought up a version of this deck that uses all 5 cards and takes no damage, also with Sundial and with the following cards: Flash of Steel + Pommel Strike + Equilibrium + After Image + Talk to the Hand Open turn 1 by playing Equilibrium, which leaves you at 12 block and 1 energy after Beat of Death. Immediately after, play Flash of Steel into Pommel Strike into Flash of Steel again, which leaves you at 9 block and 2 energy. Play Talk to the Hand to go block positive and continue with the infinite. Play After Image before ending your turn to go even more block positive and save a ton of time building up block. On turn 2, you draw all 5 of the Heart's curses, but you still have Flash of Steel and Pommel Strike in your hand due to Equilibrium, so you just go infinite again. Exhaust the Slimed before ending your turn. On turn 3, you infinite again until the Heart dies. This is also doable on A20 since it generates more block than Beat of Death deals in damage, you just need another turn of attacking, which shouldn't be an issue with the infinite block and damage.
Quick follow up: you actually need to do Flash of Steel into Pommel Strike 6 times at the start before you can use Talk to the Hand, which means you do end up taking 3 damage on A20. In that case, you can open with Talk to the Hand instead of Equilibrium to only take 2 damage instead, but I can't think of a way to avoid all damage with this deck if you go in with Sundial at 0. If you're allowed to manipulate Sundial beforehand, you can just start it at 2, do the normal A0 plan, and instantly play Talk to the Hand after your first Flash of Steel to go damageless on A20.

It gets by with a little help from its friends (unceasing top 🎩 and medkit ⛑️).
The 2 relics that reduce blocked damage to 1 when 5 or less and prevents 1 damage would have made this even stronger.
That would be the insane combo known as Torii + Tungsten Rod. This will completely negate Beat of Death (even on A20 and even upgraded), and will also block the multi-hits before the strength buff makes them greater than 5 damage per hit.
Spinning top for the win!
Next five card solution will feature a different relic!

Ha, thanks. I slowed portions of the video down to fit in my voice over, which was not an ideal solution, but I went too fast on turn 1 and had to make some concessions for clarity. Thank you for the tip though! Gotta keep up the pace! 😅
Why do you value Ascension 9?
It’s the highest ascension before you start with a curse in your deck. I plan to complete the 5 card challenge with all 4 characters, and at least one will be on A20, but I need to plan that deck around not consistently drawing all 5 of my cards on turn 1. Thanks for watching.
@@ShadowDx Wouldn't "Bag of preparation" just solve this issue since you are guaranteed to draw all your cards on the first turn?

It’s true! There are a few relic combos that would allow you to still do damage even with just one defensive card. I’m about to publish a new video challenging the heart with one card of each color, and deflect was my chosen Silent card. 🛡️

Not all that crazy till you manage it on ascension 19-20. Non ascension heart is actually pretty easy.

I'm mildly confused; why let the heart attack at all?
@@SuperZergMan The heart can only take 300 damage per turn. You can the see the icon underneath it with the 300 at the start of the turn. I could keep attacking, but it would stop doing damage after a certain point.

Self forming clay, tungsten rod, or ornamental fan would all have done a lot of heavy lifting here. Alternatively, good instincts + letter opener would have worked.
