    beautiful car - remember them well - this was the second year of the downsized mid size Buicks - almost identical to the ‘78 models - the tail light lenses were slightly different from the ‘78 style - definitely replace that radio with a stock version - I think the 4.9 liter engine was the bigger one available

    That weird operation with corrupted SRAM is possible, with all games prior to Escape From the Lost World, they aren't validating the SRAM contents during startup. All games from Escape From the Lost World to Atlantis will reset the SRAM automatically if the game detects that SRAM contents are corrupted. This is also indicated by the units digit increasing by 1 when the game shows the "Beat <score> for 3 Replays". For instance, if the HSTD is 3.000.000, the game will display that as 3.000.001 if the game had to reset SRAM at some point. In these later 6803 games there's unusual feature: to reset the settings to factory ones on startup, hold both left and right coin switches while you turn the game on. The SRAM seems to be in the socket from the factory. Installing the NVRAM should be easy, if you happen to have compatible memory chip - this will allow you to remove the battery from the board, since it won't be needed with NVRAM installed.

    Nice pickup! I saw the pinside listing the other day, glad it went to someone who's going to clean it up and make it look nice. I picked up an Eight Ball Champ a year ago and I had to do a ton of board work on mine. But really happy to have it, it's a fun game, and a good tournament game as well. Looking forward to seeing your progress!

    Great video! Quick question though, how would I go about doing this if my subwoofer doesn't have the speaker wire input terminals like yours does? Mine only has the red/white RCA style inputs, one for L and one for R. Could I crimp RCA connectors on to the end of the speaker wire going to the subwoofer? Thanks in advance for any advice you can provide!

      @dexterro6010 Рік тому

      Possibly. I’ve never encountered that, but I’m going out on a limb to say one of the magnets may be shorted. Testing with a DMM is probably in order to see what the deal is. I’m pretty sure the magnets themselves are still available for purchase if the existing ones are no good.

    On my Popeye STE, I have an 9 pin connector plugged into J137 of the power driver board and it seems like another one plugged into J138 with only 2 wires on it. According to the Popeye manual the lamp matrix uses J137(p114/142 3-4), but the Power driver board (p135/142 3-25) claims that J137 isnt used? Do you know if this is just a mistake in the manual or something? Thank you for the amazing videos!

    *QUESTION: I bought the same power supply, model # matches, looks exactly the same. At 6:03 of this video on your XP power supply, top left hand corner there is a tab and below it there is a ground symbol, that is the ground, correct? I will be performing this operation on my Data East, Tales From The Crypt. I didn't get a good look at your OLD connector. My Old connector -12v and 12v dead end on that connector BUT my ground and 5v run through it and lead off some where else. Did all your wires on your Robo Cop soundboard dead end or where like mine? It would be a good idea to hook that tab to a ground, right??

    • @Alpha67Wolf
      @Alpha67Wolf 2 роки тому

      I used that tab that was marked ground to a ground that was only inches below where I mounted the aux xp power supply. I got my pin back from my local pinball repair man and it was very $$$$ to replace and repair all the things not working on it. The plug-n-play filter thingy that is on the market is always sold out he said and he didn't know about this "hacK". I told him about it and he said that would work. From what I hear that plug-n-play thingy doesn't make the noise go away completely and you will ALWAYS hear that slight humming noise. This process/procedure {not a hack} makes the noise go away COMPLETLY.

    I put mine in and still nothing... Pretty frustrated. The new ColorDMD works cuz I can push the buttons on it and change the colors and menu options for the actual DMD, just nothing coming from the machine to it I guess... I didn't do the USB color mod yet, because I wanted to see if it worked first. I don't think you have to put the color download into it for it to just work in mono-color.

    So some comments below asking how I got the window out. Decided to re-watch some of my old videos tonight and while doing so, noticed that the window is still in the door after I have the regulator out. You can see it at one point when I pan the camera over to my temporary garage/shed thing. So, to answer the question: No, you don't need to take the window out! I miss this car. Hope this video still helps a few people out there!
