I remember being a strong, embarassing Otaku when I was younger, I was triggered when SPYAIR mentioned that they don't watch anime at all. But now that I'm grown up, their songs really are nice and fit Gintama so well. Hope it's not too late to appreciate good music.
They reference Gintama in one of their I wanna be performances. So they def have a connection to it
They were probably lying about not watching anime, even your average 50 year old Japanese Salaryman with 3 kids watch animes. They watch it with their kids as a family activity thing. Spyair probably meant that they don’t watch it “seriously (otaku-ly?)” like a geek (otaku). They say it as a way to reduce the “uncoolness” factor of the Rock Band. Baby Metal also refuse to associate with anime.

Absolutely. Most western songs are trash. Check the lyrics to the top 100 billboard charts and you'll see. Full of swearing and repeating words just to fill the melody. Cardi B's WAP definitely needs Jesus or some form of deity to cleanse your soul when you hear it. 😁 Started learning Japanese because of anime and of course the songs!

I can't understand every single word of Japanese songs but surely I feel them. I can't imagine myself without anime and J-pop. Most of the time, they have a good message and meaningful lyrics, unlike recent Bollywood songs.
