Yes, the icecap is close to Qaanaaq, but it was quite the hike to get to it. A guy from Finland was visiting the same time I was, and we hiked up the hill (small mountain?) to the icecap. It took us four hours to reach it, walking over rocky terrain. It only took two hours to return because it was all downhill! That 6-hour hike was one of the most strenuous things I have ever done.

It was UA 906 into ORD. We (my youngest daughter and I) had a super smooth landing at Chicago. Now waiting on UA 4445 to get to LEX.

Thanks for the spelling correction. In my haste to upload the video while sitting at FRA, I defaulted to the spelling of the capital of my home state: Frankfort, Kentucky.

You're welcome. I had the taxi driver drop me off at a nice viewpoint where I caught the landing. I had waited so long for the plane to arrive for my video that I had to run/trot to the airport to catch my own flight.

Kathmandu was quite the busy place.

The Paro airport is ranked as one of the most difficult airports at which to land. No ILS approach; just visual. I have read where only around 24 pilots are certified to land a commercial aircraft here. You will see in the video of my plane's landing a few days earlier, that we landed from the opposite direction.

Did not stay there. Just a regularly scheduled commercial helicopter ride there, on the ground for 15 to 20 minutes, then back to Upernavik.

Thanks. When I viewed the video, I was surprised how quiet the plane sounded. Usually it is a very noisy hum. Even the flight attendant will wear headphones. But I guess it was not too noisy in the video because we were descending and not using a lot of power. After we landed, you can hear the engines kick in.

The ride was great. And yes, the inside of Tuukkaq is very nice. I had an exit row window seat with a good view. I posted a few of the photos on my Instagram account: theaccprof

Kangerlussuaq is 31 miles north of the arctic circle, so while the sun did not rise, it was just below the horizon.

The old one was replaced and is no longer in service. I have been fortunate enough to fly on both of them.

Yes, there was passport control. The train stopped for around 20 minutes for the officers to check everyone's passports and ID cards.

the a350 is also more expensive....and not optimized for short field take offs and multiple restarts which allow the neo to operate more medium haul without damaging the aircraft... Air Greenland knew what they wanted and are satisfied customers

They do settle down. But it doesn't seem like it takes much to get them started again.

I was pleased how the video came out. My original seat was an aisle seat on the other side of the plane. I spotted the empty row and asked the flight attendant if I could sit by the window. The video puts you right inside the plane. I even enjoy watching it myself over and over again. 😅
