What You Need To Know To Run Kids on Bikes
I'm hosting my first Wanderhome game later today, thank you so much for this video. I hope you're doing okay and have a nice holiday season!
Great content!
How do I get the items to roll the extra damage dice on the character sheet?
Good lord, wtf with the background music? This is like several layers of Hell talking over each other. AND each and every video is like this? Good grief.
Thanks! I've sort-of run this twice before (once in 2020, online for kids, once in a 3-hr session in the UK for adults) with less than stellar results. I'm running it again this week for kids in person, & your 3 videos have been super helpful!😊
So would you buy Deep Magic or Griffin's Saddlebag?
@4:00 the start of 3rd Party Thursday!!! I just found one of these normal versions on sale- Excellent book. Great Resource. Hope those people on that Kickstarter were happy.
I am currently playing in a campaign using this material and it’s absolutely amazing, we’re level 26
Great video. Loved the insight on this product too. A shame you aren’t making videos anymore. I’m a new DM and helpful people who aren’t trying to just make a video that’s an ad for their new items is are.
Me and my friends are planning on playing this so I'm so excited
background music is way too loud and is really distracting.....
My cousin is one of the people who made the book
should have probably added how to add it to your character sheet as well....
When you create your character make sure you set it so that homebrew content is included. Then when you add equipment from your character sheet, all your homebrew creations should be available to add.
Hi, Is it necessary to play with game master?
Also if you wanted to use a homebrew subclass for your character how do you go about choosing it when needed
How do you add homebrew items to your character
just got 3 of the books and im hyped
To do a few changes tot eh Teapot Temple and I can bring the Konohana Kitan to life in a chill period of a dnd campaign.
Alot of these traps in this book are hysterical one of my favorites is the trapdoor that throws you down a slide covered in honey dropped infront of 2d4+1 brown bears
Just found your channel and I rather like this format. You should consider releasing this as an audio podcast too. May I suggest another rpg for you to check out? Brindlewood Bay looks like an interesting ttrpg with some fun ideas. I have been meaning to check it out.
Groovy Bobby
Hey I'm making a weapon and I don't want it to add a bonus to the same only the Hit dc yet even if the character is proficient with the weapon type it won't have that modifier
Me and my friend just split the book and we are so excited to play! Watching your videos on the series really is helping answer some questions that still lingered even after reading the book, thank you for posting!!
Currently using this material, and more, in a game with an undead SPELLJAMMER pirate captain, a reincarnated Solar Phoenix, and a Drow war god in games involving the fae courts, multiple pantheons, and most notably Hastur v Cthulhu shenanigans. They are trying to stop a warmage from his ultimate but unknown goal across planes.
I’m running an Over the Garden Wall inspired rpg next month and wasn’t sure what system to pick until now! Thank you!!!
that was a really good tutorial. I was looking the entire youtube for a character tutorial for kids on bikes, but i didn't found any, and then you popped in my screen. Helped me alot, thank you so much (sorry my poor english, its not my first language)
Thank you for doing this deep dive into the system and book! I ordered it and can't wait to play it. I'm GMing for a group of 7th grade girls and I think they're going to just flip out with this game. Thank you for going over it in such depth. It's been extremely helpful!
Lol. I just bought it to play with my kinders!
I think I broke something. I added a sword and the level 1 paladin has 45 ac now.
I want to run a game next week, I'm nervous about it Thanks for posting!
If you upload your homebrew creations does that mean that you lose all intellectual rights to your creations and that they are now the property of Dungeons & Dragons LLC?
yup
i'm playing my first one shot of wanderhome this week so thanks for the video!
Thank you, this is going to be very helpful
I just started GMing Shadowdark RPG & this will be a great resource.
Can this resource be used with any TtRPG system or is it specific to D20?
It uses 5e stat blocks, but those can be ported over to whatever system your table uses with a little work.
Good video, just giving some good advices, the overall video sound is low and to make what you're talking more visible you could go on some library or anything that have a digital printer, so you could zoom with the PDF/JPG archives to make it more visible and understandable to us. Lovely work dude <3
Great tutorial! Would you happen to know if there's a way to change the amount of damage dice for a weapon? Example: Changing a spear from 1d6 to 2d6?
I'd love to know this as well!! It might be "Replace Damage Type" but I can't seem to get that to work / stick
I was rather disappointed with the ship tavern. There was a lot of inconsistent and contradictory stuff. The captain is either a human or a tiefling, the ghost can't decide if he's related to the captain or not, the boat can be stolen from the harbour despite being barely seaworthy and falling apart.
OMG - I can't believe you started with a book from 2CGaming! You know there are people waiting for YEARS for some of their stuff right now? They have 5 Kickstarters up right now (that I know of) and it's clear that they are using the money from the new one to support something that went wrong in the previous. This video was made 2 months ago and my complaints are still valid. Do not give these people any of your money!
Stumbled across your channel by accident looking for Wanderhome content - definitely subscribing and going to watch your series on other TTRPGs!
you should check out the ttrpg verdant isles: teatime adventures next. seems right up your alley
First comment hehehe
Looking at your channel it looks like with each season you care less. By now you are just recording the entire week in one session and you don't even bother changing shirts for every video. bummer.
Based on your comments from the last two days, it seems like my content isn’t your style. That’s too bad as I try to make it accessible and open for everyone, but that’s also alright because everyone has their own preference. It’s unfortunate that I don’t have the time or capital to invest in major upgrades to my set up as I would love to be able to do that. However, given that I don’t make any money from this channel, it’s not something that I’m able to do around the rest of life happening. I don’t much like the suggestion that I don’t care about my content as I make it as much for myself as I do anyone else, again there’s no financial gain from it on my end so it’s purely for the enjoyment of getting to talk about it. I’m batch recording right now, as I believe that I’ve mentioned before, because I’m actively learning/relearning a new system every week in the little bits of free time that I have. If I were trying to juggle a system that I’m talking about as well as consuming a different one, I’d get many more things wrong. I acknowledge that it’s all in the same batch in the intro every time when I talk about “still” having the same tea going. I always welcome feedback and suggestions, but if you’re finding that you’re just not enjoying my content you’re welcome to simply disengage from it. Again, I try to make my stuff open and accessible but I understand that it’s not everyone’s cup of tea and that’s alright
Hey dude, I have never seen you before, but here we are. I guess youtube saw me watch XP3 and Dungeon Dudes and voila you show up in my recommendations. So let me give you some unsolicited feedback: First of all, I love the intro, already got value from watching just by learning about the Spice & Tea Exchange. Second, if you pull out a book thats got a pretty illustration show me the cover :) The music is nice to set a tone and it creates a great little background and keeps things from sounding too empty. There were a a few instances when I felt like your voice could have been slightly louder just to get a little better seperation. Also, at the start and end of the video it may be pleasant to have the music a little louder. Overall, this feels a bit more like a podcast(which I just heard you say it is on other platforms). The information is primarily presented talking without edits and no visual elements to go along with it. That's totally fine, no need to add a fancy intro, graphics etc. but I would do something about the plain white walls in the background. As a new viewer, it's nice when I can look at stuff in the background and maybe relate to that. Also when I get bored my eyes can wander to something different every time and I am not stuck wondering what that one thing on the wall behind you is because it's all there is (I have settled on "porcelain travelset for at-home adventurers"). For now your just young Dave Grohl drinking dragon tea, talking about a lite-TTRPG. I am sure theres more. Finally, your camera is pretty sensitive, so when you move the book around it constantly adjusts the white balance and exposure. Potato Jet has a video where he goes to Home Depot and picks up cheap lighting and explains the basics of set dressing etc. Its a couple years old but well worth checking out. In general I think you have a chill, friendly and welcoming personality. Definitely seems like you ran a few campaigns before and know your way around different systems. I'm looking forward to watching this channel grow.
This book truly puts the "E" in epic. Other Epic handbooks are mediocre, but not this one. In this book, your characters will truly reach Epic levels of power, and the monsters in which they will fight will easily have hit point totals of 2000 to 5000. It makes you look at the puny Tarrasque in a whole new light. I highly recommend this book, and all of the 2C gaming books.
I’m currently running a Kids on Bikes campaign. It’s very fun! I’m excited to see what 2nd edition adds
Wait so you’re saying I shouldn’t have eight players at the table?? Pish posh
I MADE THE EPISODE
CHAUN
It's funny that the spellcasting is what tripped you up and it took me a while to wrap my mind around 5e spellcasting (ie: I never fully got it and avoided it) after being used to D&D 3rd/Pathfinder 1e!
The use of Hero Points is kinda baked into the assumptions of the system (same as parceling out appropriate magical weapons and armor). Using them to re-roll is certainly useful, but their biggest use is cashing them all in to avoid death. It's not uncommon to want to hang onto at least one just in case things get really bad at some point during the session (so I wouldn't advise making other things cost Hero Points unless you are giving out a lot as well). Starting with one per session is the easy part, remembering the give them out during the session is where a lot of GMs stumble (we have a lot to keep track of after all!) The closest thing PF2 has to advantage/disadvantage are the fortune/misfortune traits. This appears on some effects (spells, feats etc) that cause you re-roll and either take the lower roll or the new roll. Using Hero Points actually has the fortune trait!
Keep in mind if you are untrained you do not add your level to your check, it is just the raw Ability modifier. So as you level up, there is a much larger gap between someone who put no investment in an skill (untrained) vs someone that has put even a moderate level of investment (trained or expert). Also keep in mind there are two types of DCs in PF2e--simple and level-based. Level-based DCs are for things that are there to challenge a party of that level, and thus may appear at various levels of difficulty (things like you want to persuade a level 6 NPC, identifying a 5th level spell or running across a quicksand hazard that is meant for a level 9 party etc). Simple DCs are for things that should be the same difficulty no matter the level of the character interacting with them; they just exist in the world (stuff like climbing a tree, breaking down a door, or balancing on a tightrope). This may be closer to what a 5e player is used to since you can set their DC based on what a Trained person should be able to easily do or what an Expert could easily do etc. There are examples of these for each of the Skill actions (it may only be a DC 15 Athletics to break through a glass window, but a DC 30 to break down a heavy wooden door). An 8th level character untrained in Athletics with a +4 Strength only has that +4 to do either (so can only succeed, but not crit succeed at the door on a natural 20), but a character with +4 Strength that's an Expert in Athletics has +16 so can only fail (but not critically fail, at breaking the glass even with a natural 1).
One thing it does have in there is really bad unusable maps with no color grade so you can't tell height differences during play. That is the only reason not to buy this book. There are diagrams that have that problem as well.
