its a midea
I have a question does refrigerant smell fruity? my ac smells fruity and it doesn’t blow cold air sometimes
No, it doesn't smell fruity. It might just be dirty inside, coil clogged.
I plan on cleaning it after it rains, it’s a frigidaire with a heater on it
Thanks i was wondering if i could do this i dropped mine in some water. now it works.
They should all have a drain hole with a rubber plug on it that way the water will splash the coil during operation but when not running pull the plug because the sitting water will rust/corrode the machine out.
If it’s changing the settings by itself like you said it’s probably a recall dehumidifier
I have this same unit really would like to know what year it was made, seems like my mother bought this at least 30 yrs ago, still running strong mine has a remote that one probably did too
I had this model but it was 5K BTU and manual controls. It was weak and rattled so much. DO NOT miss this thing lmaooo. Replaced it with an 8K BTU Amana
Hi, you mentioned you found the part number for the knob replacements in the comment above. Could you post those part numbers or where you were able to get them? Thanks. I've got the exact same air conditioner with broken knobs.
Ill fix my 96 Goodman window ac then I'll make a video of it it has an exsast and know not buttons
And I have the exact same one except it has knobs and it has a LG compressor
That's interesting, maybe they came with different compressors.
@@airconditionersexposed I just made a video of it on my channel.
@@airconditionersexposedGoldstar is basically LG before the 2000s.
yaaaay Goldstar
awesome video going to be fixing my Goodman tomarrow I'll make a video on my phone account it goldstar fedders maybe getting a Fedders off Facebook market place
Yeah, I'd like to see it, never had a goodman ac.
@@airconditionersexposed have to fix the capacitor then ill make a video for you it's 30 years old and you dont have one so ill make a video for you
Bought a brand new Hisense portable 8k BTU A/C unit 2 weeks ago from Lowes and was never outside however been experiencing extreme humidity lately and just last night the CGFI kept popping every few seconds and turns out the CGFI housing was completely filled up with water so i took it off and put a regular 3 prong end on it and now it works flawlessly
I found a 5000BTU Version of this today at a thrift store
Very interesting that this one had a LG compressor.
That newer LG appears to be well made, and it seems to even have a black pastic divider, rather than the cheap styrofoam one.
The interior is almost the same as the older ones, but the lower part of the air exchanger is just foam.
I love these units
ThinkQ is LGs smart brand line. You can connect the air conditioner to Wi-Fi and control the AC with the app and away from home as long as you have service. I personally use the app with my LG Dual inverter Window AC which is amazingly quiet.
Oh OK, thanks for the info.
I have a LG ThinkQ 8000 BTU Smart portable AC I use the app when my remote was lost and I could even connect the wifi with it too but the best thing about the AC is that you can even use your phone app to lower the brightness of the AC temperature light of 3 options for 3 seconds and you can change the auto swing for 3 seconds and there's cool mode dry mode fan mode and even clean filter mode that means when the red light is on the filter got to be clean every time you use it and when you done washing it you put it back in the AC and then you turn it back off the clean filter mode for 3 seconds and the red light will be shut off in immediately and there's one more when the AC said full it mean the AC is filled with water and you have to drain it enable to turn it back on if you get one you're gonna love it I got one from the home depot for $400 from summer 2022 I set it up in the living room in my house very easy to set it up and it blows the best cold air of all time summer
The one I had was full tang construction but that is one dad bought me back in about 2007.
awesome as always love the video is anything bad with the window ac you just got any ideas on what I should do with my 96 Goodman window ac 96 Goodman window acs are rare because good man does not make window acs any more
I don't know where the capacitor is in that one. It's usually just held in with a strap with one screw, usually easy to change.
@@airconditionersexposed yes that is right and It's behind the term state and the off cool fan stuff
@@airconditionersexposed got a reply for you
nice video today and yes it is the capacitor in the 96 Goodman window ac but I know now how to fix it and were to get the og capacitor and how to take out the old one and put in the new one
I have a 5000 btu lg with manual controls and it sucks compared to my older Frigidaire with proper refrigerate in it.
Throw that piece of trash out. You will never stop having water problems. It will fool you into thinking the problem is fixed, and then the next thing you know, you'll have water all over your floor.
That is the A/C I have in my window now
Hey, that's the one currently sitting in my upstairs bedroom window. It will keep my 20 X 10 room 74 degrees on 95 degree days pretty easily. But, it takes a while to cool off if it's already hot. Once the room is cool it will average about 200 watts per hour consumption. But it will consumer about 450 an hour while getting the room cool.
ive had many of these over the years... currently dont own any and i wish i hadnt sold the old haier ones i had that ran R22... they were great machines
Older Haier were greats, especially during R22 era.
can I say I have 1996 Goodman window ac in my collection and the capaciter has gone bad any idea nice video good video love it
If you're sure it's the capacitor, you should be able to buy another one with the same specs. I'm not familiar with Goodman.
@@airconditionersexposed I going to say I think it is the capacitor and I can't get the 1996 Goodman window ac any more because Goodman stopped making them and I got it from the dump going to part out the other Goodman for the capacitor It will only run for 10secs before it pops the breaker and I'm getting a Hampton bay window ac from the dump and now Im having some luck with window acs and this window ac is 10000 BTUs not giving up on it
My phone does the same thing with the audio and if its windy outside I will not film until it stops because some stuff for some reason becomes inaudible. Also I really dislike the sound of GMCC compressors, mainly for the annoying high pitched sound they make.
Yeah it's annoying with the wind, it's like a noise filter or something and you can't turn it off. I think the LG compressors were better, maybe they're just cutting costs, I don't know.
You will wish you had it if your AC breaks. They once sold for around $100. Now probably $150.
I have a newer comfort aire
I have the same unit but a 2015-year model. I've been running it every summer ever since 2015. I'm in Georgia where we get hot humid summers. It's been doing very well.
It's looks good
As of 2022, Window-Mounted Frigidaire air conditioning units are manufactured in China.
I think people call an air conditioner ‘working’ if it blows cold air
and Kenmores made by LG
more LGs and Goldstars
Lol
What does FL mean flashing on the top?
Are these heavy or are they not too heavy?
Keep for an emergency. You can run it off a inverter and battery charge the battery with a solar panel
Great air conditioner.
You just saved a 2 year old air conditioner from being cursed to death, the guy who said 15 minutes of boring is not to grateful for people that take the time to show someone who doesn’t know electricity. I am so thankful and cool now God Bless you for making this video.🎉😅😅
I remember having one of these in Puerto Rico, rebranded as a York instead of Frigidaire.
That's a very common Air Conditioner.
Nice unit. Hope it works great.
Hi i just order the newer smart TCL 10,000 window ac and wondering if its goin to last. Im replacing my LG 10,000 btu that is 20 years old. Does anyone know if the TCl brand is any good & will last ? Im really thinking about sticking with the LG brand
i wish these showed up more where i am for free. people mostly have central where i am now unfortunately
some interesting things ive noticed about these motors... the little plastic thing with the rubber washer i think is a slinger to keep water from the shaft off the bearing as a last barrier of protection on the OUTSIDE shaft, however the shaft going to the evaporator doesnt have that, and thats the one that failed. as well i think the boot being torn is the least of anyones worry because if you look at the motors theres weep holes at the bottoms but they are on the faces usually just above the bottom of the motor in its mounted position, i think the boot being torn just gives any moisture that does find its way into the motor a way out. as well clean the shafts i used a sanding medium for drywall and it did great its this mesh stuff, made it so the bearing dropped right on and only had to be tapped home half an inch. its interesting too this newer model they went nuts inside with labels mine with 410a has nothing not even that one about the fan taking fingers lol
I kept 3 of these in my shed when we bought a new house with central air. They came in very handy when that central air went down multiple times because of a condenser manufacturing flaw.
2 GE 8000 btu units died right after 1 year warranty expired. Both units used a total of 3-4 months. The condensor cores rusted out and lost the refrigerant . I had the same happen to a dehumidifier. It had a one year warranty, died halfway through year two. I have the same unit made years before, and it came with a 5 year warranty on anything holding refrigerant. It's still going strong. Units being made using cheaper metals and not being treated properly for corrosion
My haier is 12 years old. Still chugging along
@@MrSilence99 The Haiers before 2016 or so are good.
