How to use bent lamination when making a seat for a chair
I have started to make short videos about techniques and processes I use to make my furniture. Last week I used a technique called bent lamination to make curved seat pads for chairs I’m making. These will then be shaped, upholstered and attached to the seat frame. I used a vacuum bag which can compress/clamp evenly to any shape - it applies 7 tons of pressure over a metre square!
These chairs are to go around a dining table I made a couple of weeks ago.
I make tables, chairs, sideboards, benches, desks, coffee tables, anything out of wood. All made to the highest standards. I am not your standard cabinet maker, I use specialist tools and techniques to make custom hardwood freestanding furniture. I am a maker of heirlooms, to be passed through generations.
Please follow my instagram @APITTSfurniture to see daily videos/posts about how I make my furniture.
Please email me if you would like to discuss a bespoke piece of furniture: alex@APITTSfurniture.com

90 year old Grandad teaches YOU how to make the best paper aeroplane / paper airplane
Переглядів 392 роки тому
My grandad Frank taught me how to make this paper aeroplane and would always tell me the story as to how he found the design. It’s a great plane that I have happily been making for 18 years. As it’s a bit tricky, I sometimes forget the steps so made this video with him. I thought you may also like to learn about this old paper aeroplane design. I hope you are successful with your planes. Thanks...

This is a Quangsheng Luban plane, which is very similar to the Wood River brand. However, most brand new quality planes will require a similar process.

ULTIMATE car camper conversion
Переглядів 168 тис.4 роки тому
This is the conversion of my Vauxhall/Opel Corsa 2008. I only had to buy the MDF, which was £5 secondhand (already painted), with the rest lying around the workshop. The mattress was from a cheap folding bed (bought years ago for £10 secondhand). It took an afternoon and is very effective and comfortable for one person. Plenty of storage and does not effect driving Soon to follow: Window insula...

Really awesome work! I am taking some inspiration here. I’d probably seperate the wood or make it foldable so that the wood isn’t in the back of neck when driving. But it’s a great idea. Simple and effective

So he gets rear ended and that wood board goes into the back of his head? What a horrible design.. just cut it down 12" and slide it back and forward when sleeping...

This MDF base of the bed and the loose parts (covers), are a potential mortal danger in the event of an accident. You should review your design, perhaps cut the MDF into 2 or 3 parts and secure it with screws to the interior chassis of the vehicle.

If you cut your board in half and put a piano hinge on it so you could fold it back and set your mattress on it to have a couch towards the back you would have a place to set if it's a rainy stormy day you wouldn't just have to lay down you'd be able to lay or sit and be comfortable in the back and you could cook if you needed to enjoy yourself and be safe
