Despite taking all the recommended precautions, our home was today infected by CrowVID-19.... It came in via our chimney and swept through our home faster than anything I've ever seen before!

Great untill someone says , hay Siri unlock the door through your letter box 🤣
Which of course does nothing, because that would be a security risk
@@HomeIsWhereTheSmartIsSiri doesn't have great voice recognition, so it is a security risk.
@@headerahelixto explain better. The only device which could hear such an attempt, would be a HomePod. And they cannot unlock security devices without confirmation from my (unlocked) phone or watch.
Do you have that turning a key rather than a knob like on a deadbolt? I just bought a house with a couple of doors that don’t have deadbolts and I’m wondering if this might work until replacing those doors makes it to the top of my priority list.
I did use it on a key yeah, I’ve since replaced the locks with thumb turns which is super easy to do with the euro profile cylinders (if that’s what you have).
@@jay271190 thanks! No I have a couple of sliding glass patio doors. It seems to be a thing to utilise them as main entrances out in the country here in Australia lol. I’ve seen that I can replace the little latch mechanism with one where you turn the key, so then thinking the switchbot might work. As long as I have enough width to play with. Ultimately it would be great to replace the sliding doors with bifold doors or French doors, but that’s going to be way down my priority list for once I’m there, after solar and batteries and an electric car level way down.
@@moniquem783 sounds like a good priority list you’ve got there 👍 as long as you’ve got the width it should be fine. But even if you don’t I solved that one too on my back door (but it did take a lot of work on a 3D printer). vm.tiktok.com/ZGJnXbJGr/
Does the door sensor show up in homekit?
If you’re referring to the contact sensor then sadly not yet. I can only assume they intend add this at some point though.
How did I set this up?? I set it through shortcuts but it’s only giving me to lock the door. I can’t seem to unlock it with Siri
Yeah annoyingly SwitchBot have put that limitation on their app/Shortcuts. This solution works using the Lock with their new Hub 2. If you pair the Lock with one, then you can add the Hub 2 into the Apple Home app using the Matter QR code, and then you can specify which paired SwitchBot devices appear in the Home app via the hub, and control them all using Siri (only the Lock, Curtain and Blind Tilt are supported at the time of writing).
@@HomeIsWhereTheSmartIs thanks. I do have the hub 2 added it to home followed the instruction but I do not see it in my home app. It does not seem like matter product work properly or it’s something to do with the home app??
@@roannakevinrego2232 once you have them hub added to Home. You then need to tell the hub to advertise any supported secondary devices in the SwitchBot app. Then they will likely appear either in the same room as the hub or in the Default Room in Home.
@@jay271190 did try that as well went into matter configurations secondary devices. And I added the lock. But I don’t see it ok the home App
Is it working as yet and would you recommend it?
I have since got the thing working. But I have also had some connection issues recently and ended up resetting it, only to get in this stuck situation again. Luckily another rant at their support team fixed it again and I'm now beta testing v3.0 of the iOS app which seems a bit better. Overall, when they work they are very handy, just be very careful when setting them up to follow the instructions precisely, otherwise you get stuck and end up at the mercy of their support to fix your account.
aweful video
A) Awful* B) This isn't a review, it was merely posted to show a problem I had with the Tado device so I could show their support team..
