Court tennis game at Greentree which was built in 1915 by William Payne Whitney. The crown jewel of American court tennis now sadly sits idle. After the terrorist attack on the twin towers I went out in a boat with some friends and we ended up exploring North Brother Island which is located near the Hells Gate. it was used as a smallpox hospital and Typhoid Mary was a patient. A very eerie place on a day which will live in infamy.

Beautiful estate,lovely people.My dad used to work security for them,they were very gracious,and generous.The butler Emil,would give everyone,entering a nice bourban,with lemonade tea.They gave Northshore Hospital,the land to start the hospital,it was his Polo Field,very gracious and humble kind people.

When did they finally let you leave the island? Did authorities stay there with your group?
The authorities were too busy to deal with us on that fateful day. We wandered around on our own. It was surreal to say the least!

Crazy. I remember watching this, your video, years ago. I remember thinking the first time I watched this that authorities were too busy with the attack to worry about protecting North Brother Island. Very cool you were able to do this.
These bring back good memories as a baby watching with my granddaddy ride a long Cooswhatichie river on the railroad tracks going along the story down there asking about the railroads tracks

Why is this court sitting idle?
The property is now owned by the Greentree Foundation which decided to end play on the court back in 2000. It is now a conference center for human rights issues and international justice.

@AnchetaWis Reference your last, wrong. The real trooping takes places the following Saturday, a week after the review. Also, there's nothing at these times that suggest it's a rehearsal....

Does the Queen STILL actully ride out to review her troops? What a splendid display. Very emotional and yet strictly orchestrated parade of British military perfection. Brilliant!!
It is truly a stirring sight to see the Guards on parade in all their glory. Truly one of the world's great spectacles. My favorite march is the jaunty "British Grenadiers" and "Men of Harlach" is so stately!
