Nice
Thanks for this video! I live in Wisconsin but since visiting Glacier I've long considered grabbing a Bible, food, and water bottle and just disappearing hiking in Glacier for days at a time. Money restrictions have prevented me from doing so so I thank you for allowing me to live somewhat vicariously!
Very cool. I want to do this in July. What date did you do the summit?
July 18th!!!! It was amazing!!!!!!
@@kerierickson2241 Ah Cool. Thanks. Was wondering if there may be snow fields to cross in July...my first time on the trail. 😊
my old home... thanks for sharing. did Dragon's Tail once, Bearhat 3 times (into Hidden lake over 60 times), Cannon once, Clements once, Oberlin about 20 times (usual opening day destination), Gould twice, Bishop's Cap twice, Piegan 9 times, Pollock 12 times, Mahtapi twice, Siyeh once..... AND MY FAVORITE!! REYNOLDS 14 TIMES (BEST SUMMIT VIEW IN THE PARK) 35+ years. well over 4000 trail miles. well over 100 summits (Great Northern too!). most every trail pass in the park (love boulder pass and boulder peak!!) keep racking 'em up. i[m retired and exploring the Andes now. Ecuador rules!!
Great stuff! What month was this shot in? Thanks!
We hiked this July 14th of last year!
And also did you use All trails to navigate this?!
Hey! I’m working in Glacier for the summer and I’m wanting to do this trail, how do you know exactly where to turn off from Hidden Lake trail?!
if you find out holla!! going in mid aug would like to do this
I loved your footage! It did, however, not address the part where you need to register your trip off the Hidden Lake Overlook Trail with the ranger at Logan Pass (not Logan's...random possessifiying is killing English). Of course you did that, otherwise you would have been "those people" who abuse the NP access requirements and account for those people who go off on their own and never get found. Surely your doing that should have been part of your 'epic' video, right?
I believe you only need a permit if overnight backcountry camping, not day hiking. That said it is always advisable (though not required) to let rangers know if you are going on a seldom used trail and your expected time of return for safety purposes. This trail is used by climbers to access the mountain and is not prohibited to use. Just not the typical trail people go on. I could be wrong and if you find something official that says otherwise I would like to see it since I'm planning on doing this trail at the end of summer.
Where Hank Williams Jr fell 400 ft while hunting the story goes anyway...fyi
I have never heard of anyone bringing a stove and freeze-dried food on just a day hike!!
It was our kids first hiking trip so we were just trying to make it fun for them and they were so excited about it🤣
@@kerierickson2241 That's cool.
Stove lol. Like it’s heavy? Why not?
Great photos and shots of the topography. I’ve been looking for a scenic backpacking trip in Telluride, and I think I just found it.
Thanks for watching!!!! Telluride was beautiful! I’ll definitely be going back!!!!
Way to go! Tough hike, but always worth it for those incredible glacier & alpine lake views. Nice job documenting your experience on this trail. Great memories made! 👍
It looks like is on the opposite side of the highline trail
Thank for sharing! How many miles round trip and how long did it take you?
Thanks for watching!!! We clocked 6.8 round trip to the false summit, 1800 ft elevation. Hike time around 3 hours 1/2 hours and we weren’t in any kind of a rush…did a lot of talking and laughing along the hike at a leisurely pace. It was a great hike! It was 2.1 miles to the pass which was actually one of the most beautiful views, and then just under a mile to the start of the dragons tail!
loved your video ! thank you.
Aww, thank you so much for watching!!!!! It was so fun make!
That's a badass hike! Great video
Thank you! Yes, it really was a great hike!!!!!!
