Well said Eddie! I like how McDavids retaliation was to do less appearances. That doesn’t hurt the NHL, it makes you look like a baby!
How about the Nacho Goal against the Caps 😋
We won't see him play Ovechkin this year which sucks.
Ovie quote on that "Sucks for him. Good for us" Final score: Caps 3, Oilers 2. - Eddie
@@puckpodcastTV Exactly
Hockey is chock full of dangerous plays, it’s a dangerous game. At least it used to be. The NHL used to employ guys that kept the flies off their stars.
You don't let players police the game. That's the job of the officials and the league. At least it should be. The NHL itself doesn't go a great job with it either. However, they got this one right with 3 game suspension. -Eddie
@ Well, hey Eddie, I guess it’s your channel so I guess you’re right… 😆
Oilers suck. McDavid sucks. Give him 10 games for that trash.
You can dislike McDavid if you want, but saying he “sucks” is just objectively false. He’s one of the best hockey players of all time.
Parros is Biden & McDavid is Fauci
Frank (Ulcers) McCool !
I do not blame McDavid for being as frustrated as he was. The refs were on their knees blowing this game all night long. Garland held McDavid for FOURTEEN seconds! If the zebras had any kind of control over this game the situation would have never happened. Not even a mention about the Myers crosscheck on Bouchard shows how little Eddie actually watched this game. I love ya Eddie, but your Oilers hatred is showing big time in this video.
I didn't mention Myers because, will all do respect to him, he doesn't move the needle. McDavid as every right to be frustrated. You still can't do THAT!. - Eddie
You should get two games like Matthew’s did. But Tyler Myers did the exact same thing to Evan Bouchard in the same game. Will you do a reaction video after Myers and McDavid have their hearings with Gary?
Both got 3 games. We will talk about the NHL's decision on Monday's Puck Podcast.
The First one, Connor made the choice to raise his elbow. Pay the price. The NHL will NEVER suspend Connor for something like this. The second one, way over the line. Cross checking is super dangerous.
Eventually someone will say screw it and take shots at MacJesus. It's 1 thing to excell, be a star but these cheapshots he takes and they are happening more lately. I don't want to hear MacJesus whine when people finally get sick of these antics and takes revenge. It only takes one hit to end a career and that should give him a healthy respect and save himself getting retribution taken. This is trash and if the league doesn't take it out, don't whine when someone takes the trash out!
It's an automatic suspension with the match penalty. At least 1 game
@@bobholst874 I'm going to assume that you don't watch the Oilers because McDavid takes a ton of cheap crap every single game. Just a couple games ago Kempe was fined for slew footing him in a game where there wasn't a penalty called. There's always so much crap, and the refs rarely call any of it, so eventually you need to draw a line somewhere, and that's what happened here. Oilers fans are certain he will be suspended, and we're all okay with that as it was the appropriate response by McDavid.
It looks like he barely touched him with his elbow
From the NHL broadcast angle...reverse angle probably shows more. When a player has had several concussions, it takes less to concuss them. I know Johansson got a real whack when he was in Seattle. And now has a "Glass Chin"
Have any of you taken an elbow to the jaw?
@@CoolHandRobbYes, actually. And I went down. But I didn’t explode backwards through the air.
he'll get 1 game
Got 3. - Eddie
@@puckpodcastTV I was closer than Doug! lol

Thanks for this cool video 😁, all that’s left to do is advertise it
Podcast listener since episode 2 (might have even been week one) sorry it took so long to support you guys on the 'Tube.
No apology necessary. Thanks for the longtime support. - Eddie
Greetings from Columbus. Listened to you guys from the beginning but haven’t followed the NHL as closely over the past several years. Now that the Blue Jackets are back in a playoff race I’m dialed back in and was thrilled to see you guys started posting on UA-cam. Looking forward to listening to you both the rest of the way this season

@puckpodcastTV youre welcome. ive missed you on the ben maller show. I'm sure several other have too
I can't believe it. Red wings fire a coach and win seven in a row. Somebody explain this to me now
The old NHL coaching bumb. Now can they use it to get back in the race? - Eddie

Love you Eddie!
😊
Interesting fact Jamie Benn is from Victoria BC my current residence.

Thank you
How are you doing Eddie? Is it smoky there? We had wildfires threatening us a few years ago. It was smothering and frightening. Wishing you and all in the area the best.
We are good. Thanks for asking. Doug did see flames from his house but fortunately for him the winds blew them away from his house. - Eddie
Great idea, Eddie. I'd make these shorts as well to drive engagement, good luck brother!
Couldn't hurt right?
Great job Eddie! I'd love to get these as audio files as well!

last week: we have our 16 teams this week: ANYONE CAN MAKE IT
I know. Doug has done that a few times this season hasn't he. 😆- Eddie
Just a heads up, this is labeled Dec. 6, which confused me!
Sorry about that. Fixed
I also did not watch the Winter Classic since I like to watch the CFB Bowl games, which there was a lot that day, and had no interest in watching last place Chicago in yet another Winter Classic.
Listened to the podcast while out running the snow blower this morning here in Columbus Ohio
Canada out of the world junior medals so bad that it caused Justin Trudeau to resign.
Happy new year gents from not so-sunny Manchester. At a balmy -2 yesterday, I achieved McDavid levels of on-ice speed. Unfortunately it was down a hill, on my backside, rather than on skates.
The problem that everybody defending this call is making is the utter inconsistency with which it is applied. I was at this game, these officials were horrendous. A litany of no calls and inconsistent calls ALL night. Same officials made the exact opposite call in the first period when Dahlin went down in the neutral zone after a hit from Rantannen. While the Avs still had the puck, there was a whistle within a second. Let's not stop there, let's look at the Avs very next game game with the Habs. Perhaps one you can help me understand why the Avs get called for tender interference (twice!!) when its the same thing that Kelly did to Benson. There is no consistency, its ridiculous.
In the Avs game today against the Habs, Avs players got pushed into the Canadians goalie twice. Both times the Avalanche were immediately called for goaltender interference. Different rules for different teams??
Kelly has said he did not push. Watch again. Also, watch the Dahlin injury earlier, the play was stopped.
I agree with Eddie. Also, between the time that Wedgewood went down and the puck went from the corner to Benson's tape behind the net was 1.5 seconds. The ref needs a little bit of time to assess the situation. Given the norm of referees NOT blowing the whistle in the situation when the offensive team has possession and a scoring chance, think how much WORSE the controversy would have been if the ref blew the whistle JUST before Benson was able to tuck in the wrap-around. That would have been much worse.
Yes Eddie continue doing these break downs 👏🏻
Agree with your analysis Eddie, thanks for sharing! I would like to see more of these types of videos, if you have the time. Happy New Year! 🥳
The rule does not say anything about possession. Compare this to the whistle earlier in the game for Dahlin. The danger is that the player is unable to position themselves to protect themselves. If the puck went up high and was shot at the goalie in a fetal position, is it still acceptable because the Avalanche didn't get posssession? This rule was changed due to another Avalanche player, Matt Calvert, being down and taking another shot. The complete disregard for player safety in this review is notably counter to the leagues rules and rhetoric.
if you blow the whistle automatically when I goalie goes down with a potential injury I think the unfortunate result would be goalies faking injuries on any contact to get a stoppage in play to help their team. Say when the opposing team has a long shift in the opponents offensive zone and you have a tired defense. That said, a very fair point about the player (goalie) being in a vulnerable position.
@@puckpodcastTV That is why imminent scoring chance is the rule. The puck in the corner is not an imminent scoring chance.
@@irish5884 I would say that's open to interpretation. What "rule" are you speaking of? Is there a literal rule in the rule book?
@puckpodcastTV 8.1 When a player is injured so that he cannot continue play or go to his bench, the play shall not be stopped until the injured player’s team has secured control of the puck. If the player’s team is in control of the puck at the time of injury, play shall be stopped immediately unless his team is in a scoring position. 𝐈𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐨𝐛𝐯𝐢𝐨𝐮𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐚 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐲𝐞𝐫 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐬𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐝 𝐚 𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐮𝐬 𝐢𝐧𝐣𝐮𝐫𝐲, 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝/𝐨𝐫 𝐋𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐦𝐚𝐲 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐩 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐲 𝐢𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐲.
This was a great breakdown!
Good call .... will be an interesting debate between you guys this week.
Heck yea i like this idea! Hearing Eddies take on controversial calls is interesting.
The non call on the ice was correct. I apologize for the length of this comment.
How does it compare to the whistle for Dahlin earlier in the game? Dahlin went down. Avs had possession. Whistle.
@@irish5884 I didn't see that play do you have a link to a video of it ?
Nice breakdown! I’m sure it will come up again on the main pod and looking forward to hearing Doug chime in as well.
Yes to this. Love to hear your take on situations.
