why do we search for the meaning of life? good question! how about this: we are made in God's image. we are made for purpose and meaning. we are most satisfied when we have purpose and meaning in a higher cause and higher call. but there's a problem. we have all departed from the One in Whom all purpose and meaning exists. this is why we can get to where we are thoroughly unsatisfied. then we reach out for something new that may satisfy. it feels good for a while, then peters out. on to the next. same story. wash. rinse. repeat. in HIM was life and the life was the light of men, and the light shines in the darkness, but the darkness did not comprehend (take hold of) it. all have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God. God has given His Son as a propitiation (offering) for sins, that whoever believes on Him will have eternal life. Believe on the Lord Jesus and you will be saved.
