    WOW!!! I have not been there since the mid 1980's and not much has changed. My dad would take us kids on 3 week camping trips, only allowed to stay 21 days and had to be gone 7 if you wanted to stay again. Witnessed several people fall trying to climb the cliffs, one dude shattered his left leg trying to get to a koozie someone had left at the top. The fire department had a hell of a time getting to him and getting him out on a stretcher. Now I'm 60 years old living in west central Florida. There are no parks here that compare to High Cliff.

      The WI state parks are good about keeping to their original vision - not much changes it feels, but I can consider that a plus. Yikes hearing about those people falling - but not surprising. Off and on, we would hear about similar stuff out there on the news still. West Central Florida? I have spent some time in Fort Myers area, but I think that is considered more southwest part of the state. The state parks I visited there definitely did not have the same feeling of support that they do in Wisconsin. Still very much enjoyed them though. Thanks for watching and commenting!

      It is a nice nook of protected space! I am all for the educational aspect of the reserve - seeing children brought out into nature for hands-on experiences is much better than using a book to learn about nature. Bird watching can be good, I guess. I'm not much of a birder myself - but there are plenty of species spread across the state that can be found. Heck, they even had Flamingos in the spring this year - they got blown off course and ended up in Wisconsin for a bit. Thanks for watching and commenting!

    I love Heckrodt. It's my favorite little quick nature getaway. I saw those cranes banging on the back door of somebodies house there. If you get there in spring you can see all sorts of babies. I've seen baby deer a few times. Just a lovely little getaway. Way less mosquitos than you'd expect for a wetland.

    Amazing hike. Not seen country like that! Condolences for loss. That must have been very hard. We had a similar experience in March. My son's best friend died by suicide while we were away. Death really puts everything in perspective hey. Holy shit! You moved there! Wow! How well do you guys know Portuguese? I'd love to see a video on reasons why you guys made this massive life change. I imagine you have some compelling and interesting reasons. Hope it's all going well!

      There are a ton of amazing hikes on the island - I believe there is around 40 official trails leading to views, waterfalls, ruins, and more. Just haven't started doing them all --- there is one near my place that is beautiful. Thanks for the kind words on the loss, but wow, for your son to lose a best friend via suicide while away is immense. I can't imagine how that skewed the emotions from the trip. Hopefully, he is handling life after that kind of loss, something like that can run deep. Yup, this is our home now! It is friggen beautiful! Although, sometimes I don't feel as much here as I could due to long work hours, working for a US company, and working slightly skewed hours during the week. I feel like I need to break out on weekends to live it up. As for how much Portuguese we know, simple phrases for the most part. We were taking a weekly class for a few months, but our instructor's schedule changed and we have been on "independent study" mode since... and well, that is not going as well as having someone hold you accountable. In a few more years, I should be good with casual conversation I'd think. For a video on reasons why we are here, that will be on our Island channel coming later this year. I haven't announced it yet, because I want to get some things more solid before I launch anything. My new microphones should be in this week... then later this year we are investing in a drone, and I need to replace my greenscreen and lights as well... so, probably once I get all those items ready for action, I'll launch the new channel and announce it here, but like I said, this channel is staying, but content will probably be a little lighter as here will necessitate travel by sea or air, otherwise it will all hit the new channel when it launches. As always, thanks for supporting us in this endeavor. Hope to see some new stuff from your latest adventures as well!

    The beer good?! lol! That's interesting about the dorsal fin folding in captivity with Orcas. Why is that? That's cool you can drink the waters in the Furnas. Lapsa Garden was epic hey. Love the views even though I'm a bit scared of heights and would make myself hike it. Looking forward to next time!

      Haha, I ama little late jumping on this beer meme, but I enjoyed it and wanted to homage it! As for the dorsal fin, not exactly sure, but have always associated it with depression in captive orcas. The springs in furnas are numerous and each tastes a bit different, but I don’t recommend drinking from all of them at one time - didn’t feel great after that😅. Lapsa Garden is excellent and the trail is very nice - plenty of views even if you stay away from the ledge. 🙂 thank for watching and commenting!

    That street fighter intro was next level! I saw a video from Phillip bloom where he was hanging out with friendly feral cats in Greece like you guys there You shot the beautiful nature and waterfall nicely. that with a gimbal and the 28-60 lens?

    • @getoutntravel6162
      @getoutntravel6162 5 місяців тому

      Thanks - that street fighter bit was just fun to put together. These cats aren’t exactly feral - some are - some a domestics that have been abandoned. We have adopted a kitty we found on our patio. She is wonderful. Yup. Stuff was shot with the gimbal and the stick lens. Although. At this time I was not happy with the gimbal. It wouldn’t keep level, so often I have had to zoom and tilt the video. Today, the gimbal is working much better after multiple times rebalancing. Next video is a specific meme celebration. Thanks for watching & commenting! The pineapples are triggered into growing by smoke - they cut the top to keep the sugars in the fruit. They aren’t as acidic either. The drunken pear has soaked in brandy - and tasty. See you next time!

    @7:10 I feel both called out and that I needed to hear that. Thank you😅 Beautiful place. I appreciate the logical flow of the narrative too. Ours can be a bit all over the place but I want to improve. It’s cool you are upskilling with Blender. I say it to tell myself too. Sometimes we just get in the “oh, and that..” mode or an over planning mode. Sometimes I debate re-organizing trip events to fit a place-by-place kind of flow, but that will come later with what I am calling summary videos. One longer, but more concise “story”. As for Blender, I will start slow because I haven’t used a 3D program much since 1998 (which was 3D studio max) - while there is still quite a bit the same, re-learning and new tools will take a bit. 🙂 Episode 3 will come soon!

      Thanks! I actually was about a week into producing a whole different style of video before I realized it wasn’t making me happy to create it. So, chucking all that work out, I started over and took it back to the structure that I enjoyed working with on the Iceland series. As for SFX - I will be expanding that a bit more as I enjoy making “fun” stuff. I am tinkering with Blender behind the scenes to see what I can add to my videos as well. Have a few idea, but I have many more donuts to make before I will be confident enough to fulfill some of those aspirations. Thanks for the support! I am already working on the next episode. 😄

    hi , am planning to travel to iceland in the first week of may next year. will a 2w drive car able to drive through west fjords? i dont plan to do any highlands. how would you rate the roads at west fjords in terms of difficulty ? in my country the steering wheel is on the right while iceland is on the left. kinda little worried how it will be driving it on left hand side when passing by mountain passes.

    • @getoutntravel6162
      @getoutntravel6162 Рік тому

      The majority of the roads will be perfectly fine with a 2w drive vehicle in May. There will be a pass or two that may still be closed, but what is open should not be a problem for you. F-Roads I’d avoid as well - as they can include river crossings or other obstacles that 4w drive would be needed. This should not disrupt your ability to get around the fjords. A good portion of roads are gravel, but have a nice width. Some spots have the “M” sign for pulling to the side if there is on-coming traffic. Some roads are steep, or have sheer cliffs with little to no railings. This can be more of a mental barrier than a driving barrier. Changing the side of the road you will drive would probably be the more difficult thing. Hoping you have great adventures there! It is amazingly beautiful!

      Yes. We had a small 4w drive SUV. A Suzuki, I believe. Did us well. I don’t feel anything necessitated the 4w drive, but we took it in case of potential snow on the passes. (Which there was some but the roads were mostly clear)

      In the video it appears the actual hiking took around 14 minutes. If it was recorded in x5 speed (pretty sure it was) it would have taken me an hour and 10 minutes. Which seems appropriate as i took breaks along the way and wasn’t that fast.

      Ahhh, we booked the Retreat Spa package long before leaving for the trip. Only to get a message the day before that it was an error on the site that allowed us to book on the day that we did. We booked on Ascension Day, and they would be closed. The offer to set us up on the following days weren’t possible as it was one of the last things for us to do on the trip. So, I didn’t get to experience the Blue Lagoon (Bethany had visited on a previous trip with a friend). Hoping to return and give it another go.

    Nice! I love overcast but do they ever get sunny weather there? Will you be using your a7c with the m2s for these hikes in the future? where you just using it for pictures here?

    • @getoutntravel6162
      @getoutntravel6162 2 роки тому

      They do have sunny weather there - but it can change quite rapidly. On our way out to those cliffs we had bright sunshine, but once we got there it became overcast. I do plan on getting hiking videos with the a7c and the m2s this year. I used the a7c for photos and videos at this location (used in the “vlog” videos) - but the GoPro was exclusively for hiking videos like this. Thanks for watching and commenting as always!

    • @getoutntravel6162
      @getoutntravel6162 2 роки тому

      Hello Rohan, we rented a 4x4 small SUV vehicle from KEFCAR. I believe it was a Suzuki Vitara 4x4. This was more than enough as we were not traveling into the highlands and we weren't looking to camp in our vehicle either. Ragnar can do good by you at KEFCAR - looks like they might have campers too.

    I was thinking of uploading one of these type of videos but my original files are kind of lost. Eternal HDD broken and needs a data salvage from a professional. fingers crossed that would work. We stayed a couple of nights just past this park in Asuksa in Nov 2018 and didn't go here at all. Regret. We really need to go here. I love that mini Inari shrine walk. Thanks for the reminder and I'm jealous you got to go in March :)

      Gah, I’d be upset with losing footage on an external HDD. I hope you can salvage your footage! I was originally convinced to do walking videos by the channel rambalac. You might like their work. There is a lot going on in Ueno Park. I suggest day and night walks. I understand not making it there though, there is so much to do in Tokyo. That will be an excellent time to travel to Iceland - the landscape should be green (I’d think), longer days, but sadly more tourists. There is also more to see on the golden circle (we couldn’t get to everything) like Þingvellir National Park, Secret Lagoon, and Reykjadalur Hot Spring Thermal River among other places. Enjoy your trip to Iceland!

    what were the dates when this was recorded ? was there any parts of the northern mountain passes that had snow on the road ?

      I believe we drove this section on May 9th of 2021. I remember it was Sunday - and that seems to match up. Yes, in the northern Westfjords we had roads closed and some mountain passes had ice/snow on them, but not much. F-Roads probably wouldn't be a good idea in early May.

      I want to say we drove this portion on May 7th of 2021. That seems right. There was snow in the mountains, but this portion of the westfjords had clear roads.
