Going in the spring actually looking forward to it.
Can you be removed if you don't know the General Orders?
I wish the physical fitness was more intense. Combat training, self defense, weight lifting, etc. Similar to how the Army & Marines PT
Do Marines have something similar to this too or is this only for Navy?
Righteous beard.
I get the sense that ODS is easier than OCS.
It's for Direct Commissioned Officers, so like doctors and lawyers. The kind of people that the Navy doesn't want to scare away.
Sure, it's physically easier. Go get an advanced degree and you can have it easy too :)
Welcome to newport ladies
What year?
Hey, so I’m currently in Fort Adam Houston, waiting to start my C-School “Dental Assistant”. Am I able to go to ODS? Or how would that process work?
You would need get a commission to go to ODS. I guess I would suggest that you talk with an officer recruiter or your Command Career Counselor if you’re currently enlisted.
They have phones?
Is the pt tough?
It’s not terrible if you’re in shape coming in.
I go next month!
Hey there! Question: is there any separation in ODS according to job specialty? For example, are the JAGs with the JAGs and the nurses with the nurses, etc.? Thank you!!
Nope. Everyone is together.
I want to be a JAG - how hard is it to get accepted? I served on AD in the Marine Corps for 5 years. Just finishing up my Bachelor’s degree this semester so I’ll be applying to law schools soon, planning to start as a 1L next fall.
@@flanagamer You’d have to ask a recruiter. I asked mine about three years ago for a friend and was told it’s very competitive.
@@KraussMedia so I’ve heard 😔
1:42 homie got a lot of facial hair
Homie is a chaplain...it’s cool
@@noahkohn9350 how are chaplains able to do so. Waiver, or his faith/denomination? Thanks. I'm interested in Chaplaincy.
Some religious practices bars shaving. Jews, Muslims, Sikhs, probably others. It's easier to get a chit if you're a chaplain than if you're rank and file
@@urifarber5268 he doesn’t look Sikh maybe Muslim
@@mickfunny4185 First off, I never said he was Sikh. I said there are a number of religions which bar shaving, among them Sikhism. Second, homie is obviously Jewish, as you can see his kippah in other scenes
Chief Paul is still there.
Is this the same as OCS?
no.
It’s shorter, this is the version for Staff Corps and RL candidates who already have the training for their job (e.g. doctors, nurses, chaplains, engineers, science types) so there is less occupational training than at OCS
@@WCOG053where would reservists who become officers attend (ocs or dco or odc)?

doesn’t look too bad coming from prior service... I just can’t swim for shit lol
Delta Company!
Any prior enlisted service folks in your class?
Yeah. About 1/3.
@@KraussMedia Roger that. Thanks for the reply, Sir. Considering the Nurse Corps right now. Been out of the USMC for 8 years now...I'm assuming the average age of ODS is a little higher? Thanks!
Yep. They mentioned that it’s really helped to have some older people and more prior enlisted in the class.
@@KraussMedia Good to know. Thanks for sharing your experience!
I would imagine everyone you see with more ribbons than the national defense is a prior service candidate
Andrew anything I should memorize that surprised people?
It helps to know your general orders and Sailor’s Creed. Just pay attention, make an effort and follow the rules. The time flies by.
@@KraussMedia How long... 5 weeks?
@@Manatti06 Yep
Can’t wait
