George Jones and Melba Montgomery \\ Multiply The Heartaches
Great tune, great episode.
I love the musical simplicity of this cut. I feel like it would sound over-produced if you added just one more instrument or voice.
For years I thought this was a Marty Robbins song, because Mom would sing it all the time and she loved Marty. Like Marty, Billy had a country music TV show of his own, 'Billy Walker's Country Carnival.'
This song never gets old. It was a fave of mine as a kid, and it still is. Thanks for posting it.
I love Jerry Lee's piano solo in this song, especially the left hand lead.
Yes im going to tell her and prove it
AWESOME!!! BEAUTIFUL VOICE 😢❤
Love this kind of music, it is so refreshing.
Reminds me of good times past 3:10
So many of Gene's well-known songs were down-tempo ballads; '14-Karat Mind' was practically an aberration (although you could make an argument for 'Pick The Wildwood Flower').
I love ya, John, but that straw fedora was NEVER a cool look, even in the 70s.
The best Christmas album, ever. 'Ding-a-Ling the Christmas Bell' was a favorite growing up.
One more from the list of covers I thought were original artists' recordings, having grown up listening to Classic Country before getting into Oldies in the mid 1980s.
I had to listen to quite a bit of this before it stirred my memory at all, and I know I was still listening to Country in 1990.
Funny original and brilliant!
I don't usually like Christmas songs, but I love this one. Thanks for posting it.
Love this
🐐🐐🐐🐐
Now this is my type of Christmas song, thanks, Carlene.
Just love that song and love Booby Helms singing that song and love how he sings it.❤
This has to be THE stereotypical Classic Country Christmas song. No joy, no peace on Earth; just heartache and longing.
Such a shame as he makes these songs come alive... Maybe someone has the wherewithall to make them available for publication... And maybe his family could benefit from the production as we will benefit from accessing... God Bless Linda in Ontario, Canada ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ya ea haaeh bring on the good shit ! Come on
Brilliant, this is real country music.
I kind of knew the song, but I never knew the Silver Fox did cowboy ballads.
That's a really cool might-have-been track; gives you kind of an insight into the process of producing music.
Lyrics seem a little forced, which is the feeling I get from a lot of MTB's songs. This puts me in mind of Commander Cody's 'Blue Kentucky Hills Of Tennessee,' in a melodic sense.
"Oh that Rayford, don't he play?" I've been looking for this version; I saw the 'Rayford' aside in the lyrics of a karaoke version of this song but I never had heard the actual recording.
An incredibly beautiful song, he had such a wonderful voice
Miss my dad when I hear Johnny Horton. I was born in 1976 and grew up listening to dad play a whole lot of country
A fantastic duet by two great artists ! That's why they are called classics.
My friend, you keep uploading real gems that take me back in time. I appreciate your love for this genre. Cheers !!!
One more jewel. Thanks friend
Exzellent Fiddle, Exellent Steel.
The theme reminds me of their better-known song 'Don't Wait On Me.'
Another great Country Shuffle, just like 'The Key's In The Mailbox' on the A-Side. His voice has a real Ray Price quality, to me.
Damn Gary Stewart beats so many other artist.
Very good singer, his diction is clear, easy to understand, would make most country muscians today consider another endenvour
Jerry Lee simply smashes every country tune he sings. Pure genius !
Thanks for taking me back in time. A masterpiece by Billy Walker❤
Love Elvis Presley and his song and movies Rest In Peace he is singing to God and all of his Angels 😇😇🙏🙏🙏
A great man! Love his voice!
I think it fits lefty's style better; his singing was more melodic, while Whisperin' Bill had an almost conversational sound and cadence.
Thanks for sharing these jewels from your treasure chest😊
Glad you like them!
Nostalgia. Thanks for sharing buddy
Any time!
Another awesome song
Obviously, this isn't his best song or best known song, but I love Porter Waggoner & The Wagonmasters. R. I. P. PORTER WAGGONER Don Warden Mack Magaha🎻 George McCormick Buck🪕🎸Trent
This was one of my favorite karaoke duets; there was a KJ at one of my regular haunts who would sing Tammy Wynette's part any time I wanted to be George Jones.
Another classic from the pen of Dallas Frazier. I think the version I remember more was George Jones' cover, though.
Love Conway twitty music who listening to this in 2024
