You're the reason why gamers will always be thought of as weird losers and incels because you embody it.
Tbf you could play through DAO and DA2 just to see the effects in DAI. The wall of dev disinterest doesn’t put up the “Need Not Apply” sign until the end of Trespasser.
Just finished the game today. The part where you march with Calgar and fight alongside the dreadnought made me shiver with awe- seeing him take down the heldrake was insane
what a game!
The city elf origins and broothmothers were gold!!! Made you feel and see that the world is real! Instead of just a story.
Gey
20-30 years is a grey wardens lifespan, so i fits for bioware to ignore the characters from DA:O
I saw the anger and vitriol in the comments from last video, with 2k+ views, yet no one watches this one. People like to complain and insult, no one likes to support. Keep being you, love ya North!
Basically this. People only want to tear others down and have no interest in hearing a nuanced point. They are only interested in engaging with things they can hate, it must be a very hollow experience. Thank you for commenting.
For me, there is only one Dragon Age game ever made. Dragon Age Origins, ever other games is just bad spin offs. Now Dragon Age Veilguard is bad tumbler fan fiction. That is due to Bioware in name only does not know how to make good games. After EA bought Bioware, Bioware's talent left. They gathered their party and venture forth. DAO, ME1, same thing with both of this ip, first game really good, was never at the same level after that first game.
Totally agree with all of this. Dreadwolf was supposed to be the culmination of all the games. Instead it's a middle finger to every previous game and every person who loved them. Veilguard is the antithesis of everything they promised for Dreadwolf. They could EASILY have told us when the name changed that they have decided a hard world state reset and I would have been pissed, yeah. I also would have still played it. The gaslighting, retconning, dismissal, dog piling on social media and total divorcing of everything that makes a character driven, story rich, player reactive CRPG, keyed its car, trashed its bike, and broken into its place of work to take a dump on its desk. I can forgive development struggles, honest mistakes and changes in animation style (though I fucking hate it, I'd have still played it for closure). BUT, you start insulting me (yes personally, the devs are getting REAL personal on social media and dogpiling unhappy player accounts) and telling me you don't WANT me as a customer, calling me a bigot when I'm basically the physical embodiment of your "target market"?? Fuck that noise, I'm done. I hope, I TRULY hope I'm wrong about how this game will go. After the shitshow of the last 3 months though? I wouldn't buy it anyway.
morrigan being in the game and my warden being her husband no longer factoring, her drinkinh the well of souls. and once more ......BEAUTY NERFED absolute insult. and no dude, the dark as hell moments are what made DAO distinct from generic fantasy. Thats like saying youdbbe fine with berserk not having the eclipse. and perturbed joe with "integrity"? dude thats a funny joke.
In the DLC for Origins, they introduced Anders, the most important character in DA2. In the DLC for DA2, they set up Corypheus, the bad guy of DAI. I think, only catering to people who played the DLC for Inquisition, is probably the most Dragon Age thing they have done!
This has been the case since Inquisition. It's a good enough game, but very clearly not inspired by the tone of Origins
try greedfall 2
I will be!
you only notice this now? what about the 3rd one? where gray warden dont mean shit anymore, where loghain looking like a bitch
It's pretty clear that this dev team have no interest in the legacy of the series and just want to make their own thing with the DA name on it. In the same way that the showrunners that made the Witcher TV show had no interest in being faithful to the source material and just wanted to do their own thing to show how clever they were, this dev team wants to abandon the past of DA to put their own stamp on it. It's no longer about the players and the stories they have built up over the course of three games, it's about these new devs and what they want. And for that reason, they're not getting any of my money.
It's Dragon Age 2, again.
I think people should follow their own heart, that's fine. I'm very excited for Veilguard. It looks closest to me to the feel of Dragon Age 2. I think the concern over the past choices is misplaced (and to be fair the logic is acknowledged in this video). Dragon Age has always carried major choices only from the immediately prior game. That becomes more obvious as the series progresses. The HOF and Hawke and now simply old history from another part of Thedas. I'm so looking forward to Veilguard.
That would be a fair argument if the literal last game wouldn't have been the one with the greatest scale.
Just played Origins, DA2 and have nearly finished Inquisition. I am done. I won't be buying Veilguard for at least a year. Even then it will have to be good before I buy it at 80% off. It's obvious Bioware are finished. I don't think we need anymore proof. I have swapped out Bioware for Spiders. I have found Greedfall and Greedfall 2 are more in line with what I want.
I forgot how dark dragon age was; wish it culminated into something worth playing.😢
I disagree about DAO darker stuff. The fact that they showed such stuff made the world more interesting or maybe I feel like that because modern games are too sanitized.
I also hate how some people call that edgy stuff that was not needed when it was one of the things that made Origins so special. Hence why it was still kinda around in 2.
Yeah, the grimdark elements are what set Origins from other generic fantasy games
Yes, I mostly agree. The broodmoth- /puke/ were revolting, but they are fully in line w the lore and carry w them the compelling imperative to destroy such abominations immediately. I couldn’t look at a darkspawn without recognizing its origins… until the circus clown ogrespawn showed up in DA4… That horrendous depiction of corruption also provided a very poignant reference to the political corruption amidst the dwarves and humans… so that soldier’s calumny also provided a poignant example of how rotten had become the state of Denmark. But where I agree w the vid is in scenes like the orphanage. In that scene’s conclusion, a rage demon emerges to stab a guy in the back w a pitchfork for an insta-kill. It was gruesome, but… stupid. Rage demons don’t carry pitchforks and don’t get instakills on backstabs. It was also creeping around invisibly which wasn’t how any other demon has been. It was an ok sequence to play out, but the gore and horror were poorly conceived and jarringly vs the lore.
I'm getting it as loved the world since first played when origins came out, but CEX is getting my money not Bioware.
To me the soul of the games have been the unique visual design and atmosphere of the DA game worlds. Shown in the unique statues and architecture and various races and monsters in the game. This was present in Inquisition too, and I think that will continue here. Stories and characters in these games have always been bit meh and kinda childish, but I've always ignored those faults. Only character I genuinely like in DA universe is Varric. He has charisma and actual personality. Rest are generic fantasy drivel with shallow personalities. The old BG games, and Mass Effects, have far better characters.
Yeah I agree that the hiring of this particular VA is not an accidental choice
It’s literally an ai made fantasy game.
It's not even a checklist situation, or an instance where they needed to hit a specific amount of choices carried from each game. Yes, to their point, this game takes place a decent amount of time after DAI, and it is half a world away. That should have made it more important for them to determine which choices would absolutely matter, and make the reactivity that much stronger, knowing much less would have to be accounted for. But to just throw it all out? It's such a betrayal. Might as well not even bring back Morrigan, or Dorian, or Iron Bull, or Varric, or any returning character, if you are discarding choices that represent major moments for each of them. Morrigan could be a mother or not, she could be possessed by the will of the mother she tried so hard to escape. Dorian could have been an ally, or hated you enough to leave the Inquisition; Iron Bull could have been not recruited, or dead as a Qunari spy, and both of them could be in a romance together. The decisions with the Fade, who was left behind; as well as the Grey Wardens, exiled or not, and who returned to Weisshaupt, when an internal rebellion seemingly started; The Well of Sorrows; the divine, the mages and templar conflict and outcomes; the inquisition's reputation; the Inquisitor's characterization, humorous, harsh, merciful, faithful? How do you followup DAI and discard all of this? They had a perfect opportunity to hyper focus on the Key elements to bring forward. They had 10 years of fan speculation and theories telling them exactly what we wanted to find out most. They had 2x entire epilogues (DAI main game & Tresspasser's) full of narrative hooks clearly intended to be resolved in the next game. How do they mess this up???? There are people saying, "well it doesn't mean it will be a bad game," No, but it does mean they straight up didn't give a fuck, and now neither do I.
They had 10 years but apparently only spent 1 or 2 years on it. That's what it feels like.
@@theesper7404 I got the feeling Veilguard will be this Frankenstein monster, made of all these different elements of a game they tried to make 3 or 4 different times over the past decade.
@@Keyatzin from the first few teasers that came out of DA4 it appeared to be going back to being dark and gritty. And then we heard nothing for years and BAM!...we get this. I don't think the story is going to hold up in this game. It's probably going to have some weird unrelated dragon age stuff. A lot like they did to the story of horizon forbidden west. Along with agenda pushing crap.
I played all the dragon age games. i enjoyed them they were fun. I love the story and lore of dragon age games. I first played Dragon, age 2, the demo before i got into dragon age origins. I am excited to play.
Dragon age Origins is the only game of its kind in the dragon age series- every other game was a fast paced action slasher type game. Our successor to DAO is baldurs gate 3 and its SUCH A SHAME. DAO story was cool but I honestly dragon age as an IP is done. I don't even see mass effect survivng
i think greedfall 2 is the closets i’ve seen to DAO , it isn’t out yet but you should check it out lmk if you agree
GW abandoned the soul of 40K and WHFB
small channel, based takes. youre right though. going to be a 7-8 game from game journos 6-7 from fans, Im thinking 6.3
I get being salty about the decisions, they should have at least imported decisions regarding Morrigan from DAO, as she literally becomes a different person by having Kieran. And maybe who Hakwe was, as we have Varric on the team in non-combst capacity. But, few things that I think you got wrong * Fade isn't exactly a pure dream world of no substance. It is more like an extra dimension. You can physically be there. Prior to the Veil, elven cities combined real world and Fade, and the Eluvian mirrors use one of the Fade-adjacent dimesnions (which is there Lighthouse is) to transport people * Pretty sure you can talk to the companions even without the lamp, the lamp is there just to let you know they have a quest or something, not just their standard repeated conversation options
Good counterpoints, well made.
Most games are ass and so easy to forget.....but Days Gone and Ghost of Tsushima are so special to me and are Playstations beat exclusives imo and the most deserving of sequels.....I still replay them to this day....even tho ign sabatoged Days Gone release with lies and it's ok to be a racist bigot if it's against straight white men because and I quote ign said they didn't like Days Gone because Deacon is a "scruffy straight white male with a gun" and Days Gone was gonna be a trilogy and it sold well...but it got canned and instead Sony will force ore and more of TLOU down our throats and horizon zero interest..... because we need more lame ass games playing as chicks who are alphabetical and Wana transition or some dumb shit.....it kills me man and I apologize for the rant but this shit cuts me deep and I feel like there are no games left for me..I tried god of war spiderman etc they're ok but nothing special like DAYS GONE and GHOST OF TSUSHIMA!!!!🤦🏿♂️👍🏿
Another last of us part 2 stunt, sony knows how to ki!! franchises
I dont think anyone thinks females are bad for gaming. When was the last time someone in good faith complained about cortana, laura croft, female shepherd, catwoman, kat from halo, fury from darksiders, Claire Redfield, the master of unlocking. We could go on for weeks with examples. But its about why are they there? Its like saying women only have bad characters in movies while ignoring the pinnicals like Ellen Ripley and Sarah Connor. But bad actors and poor writers can ruin anything. Just need to look at the likes of terminator dark fate to tie that example back in. Personally though this is just an aside, I wish anyone other than ripelys daughter was the protaganist of Alien Isolation. I just dont like the trope of protagonists kid is injected into their parents role for no reason other than brand recognition
I love your let's plays! I hate Let's plays normally. Keep up the good work boss
It seems like you brought the attention of a redditard flock.
Lol.
So is this basically Dragon Age Andromeda?
It's actually worse, because Andromeda is basically a side story to Mass Effect, it's almost completely removed from the rest of the series. Whereas Veilguard is a direct sequel that blatantly disregards almost the entire Dragon Age series.
Worse, since MEA was made by b-team for whom that was their first game (they only made mutliplayer for ME3 before and it's why gameplay was good in MEA) because a-team was focused on Anthem and Veilguard is made like that on purpose.
MEA was, as was said, made by the B team. Veilguard has the A-team on steroids.
Yes, but worse. 😂
@@mr.chandler9555 Why's that then? The previews have been glowing. GOTY contender from some.
To Northern Exile Gaming, do not buy it and go home play Ghost of Tsushima. That is ok! Why making a whole clip about that
BioWare became a literal Husk after they sold out to EA.
You do know all Dragon Ages were made under EA, right? The initial world outline was made prior, but the actual work was happening under EA. Besides, from what we know, EA us more of a "give you enough rope to hang yourself", rather than "we will hang you" company, which is what BioWare managed to do after the Doctors left
@@Ariescz I am aware. I liked BioWare because of Kotor and Mass Effect 1. BioWare brought forth its own downfall because of arrogance and stupidity. Make no mistake, EA is a horrible company and a blight on gaming. But EA didn’t tell BioWare to make the Mass Effect 3 ending, the idiots at BioWare were the ones that thought red, blue, and green explosions were good ideas.
@Captain-Thievius Eh, I kinda don't mind EA. They are bad, in in sort of the basic bitch corporation bad way. They just tend to take trends to their extreme until they get burned (BF2 lootboxes). And apparently, they are pretty decent company to their employees, if Glassdoor is correct. There are way wrose companies pulling more awful stunts (Ubisoft, Tencent, Epic)
@@Captain-Thievius they kinda did tho by limiting the development time for mass effect 3 and they had to rush the ending
You could have just made a 2 minute video about how you don't like Erika and it would have been more coherent. Or have left the video as 11:00 to 15:00
Lmao what a loser
Who makes the game the gamers or the devs? who makes the story the gamers or the devs? Because you want to know more about a character, does that mean that the devs have to make the game around the character you want to see? As for the Voice Actors, do you know these women? Do you know their politics? So why do you care about that one VA? You example with Hitler is different, he actually start a world war and killed millions of Jews! Did the VA commit a heinous act? It's just her opinion... That is all... Another thing, you are not supporting her by playing the game, you are supporting the studio. She already got paid. Most actors are not great people on set, are you boycotting movies? Whatever... Don't play the game, we will. Not playing it won't change her views, but I will enjoy my time with that world.
Saying Cyberpunk doesn't have "modern politics" is idiotic
As someone who dislikes most woke culture. This is an absolutely ridiculous opinion. You loved Ghost of Tsushima but refuse to play the follow up game because a woman you don't like is playing the main character.. maybe play the game first before you make your judgment on its political messaging.
This is cringe, you should be ashamed
Everyone in the comments is an authority!
Friendly reminder that Atsu is very conveniently using Niten Ichi Ryu (two sword style) just a year BEFORE Miyamoto Musashi is documented to have invented it. Game is set in 1603, Niten Ichi Ryu was invented between 1604 and 1640, so my money is on this random woman somehow ending up teaching a literal sword saint of Japan his own invention.
