2007 Volvo XC70 radio removal ..
2007 model year must be replaced with a 7th generation radio. Shown on the radio label with model number.
6th generation and older will not work properly.
You must disconnect the battery or it will trip fault codes that cannot be reset with basic OBDII readers. The heater when unplugged will trip air bag fault code. Odd but true!

Be cool, relax. A stress-free way to change these hard-to-get-at VW plugs! I forgot to mention to leave the 2 hex bolts in place for reassembly; ones under the four manifold pipes. The bolts won’t drop in from the top. I TORQUE PLUGS TO 18 ft-lbs.

I could not get the switch out without risking damage to the panel. The switch is in the opening with extreme pressure. I could only release it from inside the panel. Maybe it can be done but I could not get it out without removing the panel.
Hi, do you really have to pull everything off? Or can you also do it without pulling everything off?
What is the trick to reattach it to the hood release.
Just put the flexible clip into the head of the release lever first. Then push it onto the spindle until it clicks.
@@Nuge17 Thanks. I tried that and beating on it among many other things. I think I will buy a file or a die grinder to make a groove, and then use some epoxy to ensure that it stays in place.

Did this resolve the issue of it taking a relatively absurd amount of force to get the hood to pop open? I got my son both a latch and a release and it is still a pain in the ass. I just don't know if they are all a pain out of the box or if we need to replace the cable as well
Hi, Not sure why you are having that issue. Ours was never hard to open. Sorry no help.
Did you ever figure out what the problem was. I have to stretch my cable out and pull in order to get the hood to release.
What happens if your cable was pulled out prior to the fix? now I have to try and feed it in blind through the firewall... not looking forward to it
