Pioneer Ohio!, I used to live in Montpelier long time ago. When I travel thru NW Ohio, Napoleon, Defiance for Telco I see many 4228 or 4221 antennas combined with a VHF yagi. Some are on American towers and some on tilting towers. Not sure who made those tilting towers that piggyback each other. I always thought the same company installed many of those since they were so similar. OTA TV is making a comeback. OTA plus streaming is the way to go. Minimal expense compared to CATV or Sat TV rates. You look very comfortable on that tower. I used to climb telco poles but my knees can't take it anymore.
This was 100% the solution to my problem. Thank you
YOU SIR, ARE A SUPER STUDD!!!!!!!!!
did this happen after it had run? Mine does the same thing after warmed up.
Mine Studdard and died but cranked back no problem
You really helped me out thank you
Why a TV tower I saw a satellite dish?
Hell yeah
Old amerite tower repainted..rust inside...put up very many...sorry, but junk.
Who the hell ask you!
I have the same issue with my 99 and it will run if I unplug the MAF, but dies if you give it throttle. Any ideas?
The sections seemed very light to lift without a pole. Is the tower attached to the House on top, it seems if not the wind could bend it.
When he was putting the antenna on it was not, but he did attach it to the house afterwards.
worked perfectly, ty
Question: When you pulled the bad sensor and ran it, did it run like normal or did it rev and act abnormal?
Who builds a tower in front of their windows?
Well I guess I do. If you must know it makes a great fire escape for the 2nd floor.
@@TheGoch1 that's funny and useful
It would’ve been MUCH easier and cheaper to either use a 10’ mast pipe with an eve stand-off wall-mount or a 5’ mast pipe with roof-ridge tripod.
my thoughts exactly
Thanks for posting. Mine was doing the same thing. Pulled the connection and it ran just fine. Put the new sensor in and seems good so far
Hell noooo lol the trafficwind
I built mine on the ground with a hing plate. Push a button and it stands up or lowers to the ground. Much easier to work with your feet on the ground!
$100 that's outrageous guess I ain't fixing mine
I'm going to the junkyard
what a waste of tower for a stupid little tv antenna. Now if it were a 10,15 20 meter beam thats something different !
Very well done you did this like a ACE thanks for the video.
Now that is a high antenna tower
Any specific detail about the technique used with the belt thing hooked to the mast so you can work with your both hands? Looks stupid but a 2 minute crash Course on that specific thing would set me ready to climb mine with ease. What belt did you use? Where can I purchase one line that?
Those old style waist belts are dangerous. They will not protect you from a fall, but rather will slide up and prevent you from breathing if you are hanging from the belt. A full body harness and dual fall arrest lanyards are required to climb safely. When climbing you should always be secured to the tower by at least one lanyard. A positioning lanyard attached to the chest D-ring on your harness is used to position your body on the tower and allow use of both hands.
@@billmoran3812 I used to be a rock climber and also did some of the Italian Via Ferrata. I still have a chest harness and a "Sitzgurt" (sit harness?). I used both, with two tails. The only problem - most of my carabiners were too small to connect directly to the tubing. I had one that was big enough. With the other I had to wrap the rope around the tube and connect the carabiner back on the rope. But at 75 I was a little shakier than in the old days ;-)
All that work for a baby antenna!
That baby antenna does a hell of a job. No need for over kill.
@@TheGoch1 Tomorrow I should receive my 'Dennys Double Stacker' and I hope it don't let me down living in the 32164 zip code. I guess for me, point it south or get a rotor. Replacing my home-made DB4 I built 10 years ago and have been very happy. The wife is hoping we can do better but I doubt it. Just over 100 channels is not bad.
Proper cable dog knows his job 👍
If this is what the customer wants. He got a great setup. For the rest of us a heavy duty tripod and mast would knock about $600 off the quote. But I know some people are not willing to risk roof leaks with a tripod. I would want a tower if I was in a lightning prone area like Florida.
When in doubt, hit it with vice grips.
At first I thought this video was very old maybe from back in the 80s but then I seen the Dish Network satellite receiver
Like a BOSS 🤣😂
My neighbors would love me if I put up one of those! Not sure if the insurance would cover if and when struct by lightning!
40 feet tower for a little tv antenna a db4 would have more channels
Yeah, all that work for a small antenna, that an INDOOR would give the same results! Better to get a long range long boom antenna, with pre-amplifier, to get THE MOST STATIONS (and reliably!)
Have never seen that type of section any were there was a very old manufacturerd sections of mini tower don't know the brand but probably long out of business. that is similar with the all tube construction but was very similar to 25G in spacing on the cross pieces. That one looks home built NOBODY else has been able to know of it.
This tower is manufactured by American Tower Company in Shelby Ohio. They ship nation-wide and hold several government contracts. This particular model is called Special 6.
@@Singercommunications thank for the info
This is so cool. I didnt even know tall towers like this existed gor home use. How much does a tower install like that cost, roughly?
You NEVER KNEW?? Just look around at other houses. Common for the last 70 years! Must have been born yesterday, like today's young people kiddies, huh?!!
@@haroldreyes7549 I haven't seen them at all in the neighborhoods I've lived in. And I've lived in many places all around the country. Just because they're common in your hillbilly town doesn't mean they're common all over the place.
are You really have to install this in the middle of windows ?
That tower isnt steel its aluminum
This tower is steel. It is manufactured by American Tower Company in Shelby Ohio. The model of this particular one is called Special 6, for the amount of cross rungs per section. Each section weighs around 55 pounds. The reason it looks easy in the video is practice and technique. I have been installing these towers since 1994, so at the time of this video it had been 21 years.
What brand of tower is this I have one just like this but need to find another section
You really don't need much of a base, for an install like this one. I have almost the same exact setup, I drove in (3) - 6 foot x 1" diameter pipes slid the tower over the pipes, put a round disk blade down over the pipes, (so it wouldn't sink into the ground) and fastened it to the framing members of the house, with angle iron. It's was up 28 years, with a 5 element beam and I was up several times to make repairs , over the years. Once its fastened to the house, the pipes just keep the base sliding sideways, all the weight is downward.
Maybe that music caused the driver to fall asleep and crash.
As tall as the house peak is, just put a gable brace and 15 foot pole.
Yes I agree and save a couple hundred dollars...
Yeah but now you've got a fire escape ready out of that second-story window, too!
Yeah, that way you can hang off the edge of a house on a steep pitch to maintain the antenna with no safety harness.
So I'm curious as Wat you did as far as securing it to the ground? I have a 60' self supporter and thought about pouring a 3'×3'×3' concrete block in the ground but the thought of even 12" anchor bolts scare me. Any ideas? My tower is a lot heavier than yours
Would it not have been better to have a 10ft mast on the roof instead of wasting a bunch of tower?
Really if you know what you're doing and don't plan on removing it a normal J mount could do the same thing. You can even put it into the side of the roof which would further reduce the risk of leaks. I would understand the tower if they planned to go farther past the roof or have more than just a tiny TV antenna.
@@computersetc1123 The real solution here is a gable mount with a long mast.

Wow pretty stupid, just put it on an eve mount.
Why? this is what I wanted!
How does tower anchor to ground ?
It sets in the ground 3 ft with concrete.
wtf
My neighbors have one in their yard
The one big defect that comes with those Towers is the nuts and bolts that come with them. They're nice and shiny when new but start rusting quickly. When I put up a TV antenna with the help of a friend, I headed over to the Hardware Store and got Stainless Steel replacement Bolts, Nuts and Washers.
Thank You..Back in the day my husband hauled pallets and the only truck that would hold up was a Ford F 150...A Beast
