I've been thinking about it: When Kisame gave Itachi that fact about the shark's fratricide, especially within the mother shark, he was likely alluding to his perception of why Itachi slaughtered the Uchiha clan: that quench and thirst for bloodlust, power growth and survival till there is no one left. At least, that's what it could be said on the surface of both the ocean and the the mother shark in the perspective of Kisame. The infant sharks being the clan members, the mother shark being the Uchiha clan and possibly the ocean being the hidden leaf. The "sharks" are feared throughout the village and threaten the existence of the other fish, so Itachi being that odd "shark" killed every other shark to not only preserve the peace and prosperity of the "ocean", but to also negate the opinions of the "mother shark" being an incredibly dangerous and dishonoured being carrying around other "sharks" that would end up stomping the other fish and rule the ocean. Or ya know, Kisame loves biology and wanted to share his knowledge lol
