Very nice video. 👍 I will be visiting with my adult children, next month (Oct. 2024). For me, I'd like opinions on The Island (Pigeon Forge) vs The Village (Gatlinburg). We're not sure which to visit, but can choose only one of those, as we'll be doing Anakeesta, Roaring Fork Motor Trail, Cades Cove, Skybridge, and maybe a petting zoo. Hmm .. My friend and I went to see Paula Deans Pioneer Freud dinner show. We were disappointed. We expected it to be better, like you said, it carried Paula Deans name. They handed us a box dinner to eat at a picnic table outside. It wasnt that great of a meal. The show was better then the food, but not that great either. It seems that most of the shows out in Pigeon Forge serve pulled pork, which my friend and I neither one like. Our favorite show among all the shows we saw ( and I think we all but the bibical one. We wanted to see that one too, but ran out of time.) was the Pirate dinner show, Array, and Murder Mysterty dinner show. Dollys Stampede dinner show, and Hatfied and MCCoy was pretty good too. We enjoyed Comedy Barn also. Memories and Motown was pretty good too. Paulas Deans was our least favorite.

I can have coffee black. But typically I'm a three cream one sugar guy.

I haven't been yet. There's couple places in Pigeon Forge I like to visit.

Pancake Pantry. Our Eggs were scrambled 2 hours before we got there. Cold & Thin. Bacon was way overcooked.

Too many hungry bears walking around the hotels behind the space needle 😳

I recently visited Gatlinburg for the Smokey Mt Bigfoot Conference, and stayed at a hotel that was 1-2 minutes walking distance from the conference center and space needle. Nobody told me that my life would be endangered by a black bear with cubs walking between me and the conference center! Gatlinburg can surly afford game wardens to scare bears away from the hotels behind the space needle. An unsuspecting person (like me) is going to get hurt stumbling across a hungry bear seeking food. It wasn’t like this 5 years ago.

One thing i noticed on the walkways, there dont seem to be many places to sit. At least not around the shopping areas. As someone who is handicapped, I worry about these things. But it sure looks nice. Skyfly is similar to Soarin at Disney. Very cool! Thanks for the walk through.

For families with toddlers (i have 3,4,6,8yo) what do you find to be worth the price/best to see. Definitely want to do Hillbilly golf thanks to your recommendation but struggling to find other places that would be worth it and fun for littles. Thank you!!

I worked for someone from the middle east. He, his family went on vacation one year. They gave me my choice of where to go. I chose Gatlinburg. We ate at the old mill. They have been back a few times since. I ask him if they ever went back to the mill. He said they would always eat at the Old Mill.

Crockett is the best I would eat there all the time if I lived there..I’d weigh about 600 lbs

I think it is a waste of food . You should be able to take out what you can't finish if you didn't get a refill on the food .

Dude you been living under a rock that area has been there forever.

Mill was built 1830, they just redid the outside wood siding this past winter, one of the oldest mills in the country!

Pottery House Cafe is also owned by the same people & fantastic....across the street, next to Pigeon River Pottery....they make their bread, they have outside seating available and you are served on pottery dishes made next door!

Big fan of Diners, Drive-ins and Dives so I tried Flavortown out. Sadly it's overpriced and the food is garbage.

Me and my family go there all the time! It’s delicious! 🫶🏻 I will say.. when they first opened the portion sizes were over flowing. Now, it’s less in each dish. And the prices went up a cpl bucks 👍🏼

Ok one thing you forgot to mention is when its cold out side is when you go to the pantry its cold you stand outside also the same at crocketts. When you go to the log cabin pancake you stand out on the porch but theres a heater above you so you stay warm while waiting. You never got the same food at the resturants so you really didnt compare much. You didnt try the eggs or taters at logcabin

We are from the UK and slowly planning our future trip to the smoky mountain region to have our family type dream cabin holidays. Couple years away yet type holiday. This was perfect to see it all broken down for a Dad who has three kids 10 and under. I honestly had no idea they had roller coasters for kids at Dollywood.... If you don't mind me asking, since I didn't see it in the video. If my kids are scared of the adult rollercoasters, is there any reason I should buy the TimeSaver pass? (we are going during the beginning of October which I hear is a busy time there). Thanks for the tip!

Family style is dumb. My wife doesn't eat nearly as much as me, and agreeing on what the foods are would be a challenge. And the kids, too? Shelling out $25 per person (plus drinks and tip) for food we're not all excited about is not a recipe for my business. Sorry, Paula, but it's a no for me. Taking that tourist dollar, though! Whoop!

The food is good and there's lots of it with huge portions. Our family is grown and there's just two of us now so the amusement stuff doesn't interest us. Azul is within sight of Guy's and if you like Mexican you'll love Azul!!! If you have a small group get the Tomahawk Pork Chop and Nacho Azul appetizer and share it all! Amazing stuff and you can thank me later. Lol

We've been there every time of year and our favorite time is the first whole week in January! You've got the whole place to yourself, no traffic, no crowds, no lines, CHRISTMAS LIGHTS STILL UP, and the lowest motel rates of the year! We stay at Howard Johnson's downtown for 5 nights (Sun-Fri) for $40/night and $200/5 nights TOTAL !!!!! You can walk to everything in Gatlinburg and pay for no parking!! (BTW, eat at Seasons 101- for the chicken sandwich and sweet potato fries, Azul for the Tomahawk pork chop, LeConte Tapas-for everything, and Olga's Yodel for fabulous cinnamon rolls & the Donut Friar for donuts.) Fabulous vacation!

We've been to Crockett's twice and the only thing they had going for them was the AMOUNT of food you get but it is mediocre at best. It's like Cracker Barrel on steroids. Same food, just more of it. It's just hard to mess up eggs, ham, & biscuits and they all taste about the same everywhere. So we heard ravings about the cinnamon roll and we got ours to go and it came with no icing! (Go to Olga's Yodel if you want a truly great cinnamon roll). We've been to Log Cabin several times and it was mediocre at best too on everything we got. Pass. If you've been to Pancake Pantry before then why on earth are you ordering anything other than their specialty pancakes???? You should know better! Nobody is even close to them in Pancake World! Lol. (Plus the French Toast is awesome!) Next time be smarter and compare apples to apples and put Crockett's against Old Mill, Five Oaks, and Applewood for the best down home country breakfast. But in pancakes, the Pantry's signature pancakes stand alone. The rest we can get similar around hime but pancakes Pantry good, are only at the Pantry! BTW, that thin runny syrup is what REAL maple syrup looks and tastes like.
