Sadly enough , after the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 A. D . the Romans named the city Aelia Capitolina after Hadrian's family name , Aelius , and Jupiter Capitolinus , the chief Roman god . The Jews ✡️ were forbidden entrance to the city until Christianity became the official religion of the Roman Empire in the 4th century A.D . For many years the Jews were not allowed to even enter what was formerly called known as Jerusalem , except one day a year , the anniversary of the fall of the city and the destruction of the Temple , where Jews were invited to come and mourn bitterly. Truly Jesus meant it when He said " these are the days of vengeance " in Luke 19:41 - 44 . Jesus wept over Jerusalem , because He could see the massive devastation to come upon this city He loved . Today Jerusalem is still ruled by Gentiles, the Palestinian Authority , and it can be argued that Jerusalem is still " trampled by Gentiles ." Jesus said that" until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled " , and when the remaining 7 year period appointed to the Jewish ✡️ people in Daniel 9 begins . The Gentiles shall not always tread down Jerusalem , for the moment will come when the Gentiles will no longer possess Jerusalem and that when such a time is fulfilled , the nation of Israel will repossess her land . Luke describes that " there will be signs in the sun , in the moon , and in the stars , and on the earth distress among nations confused of the roaming of the sea and the waves ," this kind of total chaos and calamity is described in horrific detail in Revelation 6 , 8-9 , 15-18 . All this will culminate in the dramatic, spectacular return of Jesus , coming with His Church ⛪️ to this earth .

Jesus personally promised special grace or special help for Christians ✝️ during times of persecution in saying: " I will give you words and a wisdom that none of your opponents will be able to withstand or contradict ." Think of how many times Christians have read God's Scriptures and stored it in the bank of their mind and completely left it there dusting itself in the memory . Then one day while pressing a certain point of view of their faith to someone , the necessary Scriptures pop 🎉 out of the library of the brain 🧠 recollection as a good defensive statement of our faith in God . Reading daily God's Word refreshes our mind on practicing a speech of defense in advance so that when the opportunity presents itself Jesus can help Himself in awakening the Scriptures in our mind and unlocking 🔓🔐 it with the master key 🗝 of His Holy Spirit .

Good morning , Brother John Paul , and Praise to the Holy Spirit that opens our mind to the reading of today's Scriptures . Revelation 14 seemed to describe the consummation of all things , ending with the fury of the Battle of Armageddon . But now John will go back and enlarge upon the scene he has already sketched in Revelation 14 by describing to the readers the judgment of God in more detail in Revelation 15 . " Seven angels with seven plagues " the idea is also in Leviticus 26:21 , these 7 last plagues are the place where God's anger flashes hot 🔥 against those who rejected Jesus ' Word denoting that the wrath of God is complete and will reach an end and will fulfill an eternal purpose . Another word God is not just blowing off steam . The image of " what appeared to be a sea of glass mixed with fire 🔥 " is a physical representation in the architecture of heaven of the Word of God ( Ephesians 5:26 ). Here , the glass acts as a mirror 🪞 to reflect the glory of God . Perhaps we could say that the Saints " who had conquered the beast and its image and the number of its name " are standing on the Word in the holiness of God with glorified bodies " with harps of God in their hands " denoting the 24 elders in Revelation 5:8 . Those who have conquered the beast through their faithfulness unto death are the tribulation martyrs described in Revelation 7:9-17 . They are not those who survive the tribulation for the bowl of judgments still wait . Therefore, even though the AntiChrist kils them , they have victory over the beast, and they are not losers . The early Church ⛪️ consistently described the day of martyrdom as a day of victory ✌️ . These tribulation martyrs are given the blessing of worshipping God with harp music 🎶 in heaven . " They sing the song of Moses , the servants of God , and the song of the Lamb , " one single song is sung with 2 titles , Moses and the Lamb , a perfect union between law and love , between the Old Covenant and the New Covenant . These martyrs only focus on God by repeatedly saying, " You ...Your ...You ..." They have the heart ❤️ of true worship , understanding that it's all about God , not about their own glorious victory . God bless your efforts abundantly , Brother John Paul . AMEN 🙏 🙏 🙏.

Well. Not sure if you are the bearer of good news. I was somewhat excited when you read that the angel with the sharp sickle would gather the ripe grapes. I imagined myself ripe and ready. But then they were thrown into the wine press of the wrath of God. Doesn’t sound very pleasant for the chosen ones. And when you suggested I ask myself, “What have I been doing with my life?” My first thought was, “drinking coffee.” I need to change that. Thank you for encouraging me to work with the Holy Spirit.

Good morning , Brother John Paul , may the blessings of God's Holy Spirit continue with us all in today's reading of the Scriptures . The book of Revelation 14 is actually the perfect answer to Revelation 13 . At the end of Revelation 13, he depicted Satan and the AntiChrist as the winners 🏆 , but Revelation 14 shows who is really triumphant , powerful, and in control . It certainly is God , His Messiah ,and His people and not Satan and his messiah the AntiChrist and his followers . God will judge the earth 🌎 when " the harvest of the earth is fully ripe " , the idea is that God doesn't rush into judgment and so shall all Christians true believers trust in the 3 different angels " who came out of the temple ... the altar .." These allusion seem to indicate that the angels are acting in response to the prayers of the Saints for divine judgment on wickedness . Christians intercession prayers are constantly heard by God, whether in local communities , by the Church ⛪️ in Mass , and all the faithful ones from all walks of life . May all Christians ✝️ believers focus on what binds us to God through the power of God's Word that invigorate our spirit , free us from falsehood and the works of evildoers , and discern the truth with clarity In Luke 's account, Jesus speaks of future events and points out that as much as the Jews ✡️ took pride of the Temple of Jerusalem and " how it was adorned with beautiful stones and gifts dedicated to God ," Jesus Himself never hesitated that He was greater than the Temple 🛕 ( Matthew 12:6) . For many Jews ✡️ of that day , the Temple 🛕 had become an idol , it began to mean more for the people than God Himself . Good things can become the worst idols, and sometimes God sours or takes away even good things that we make our idols . The destruction of the Temple of Jerusalem was intended to give a specimen of the general conflagration and ruin of the world on the last day . The siege of Jerusalem and the destruction of the Temple 🛕 must be seen as a kind of rehearsal of what is yet to be at the end of the world when all false religions will be exposed . In some sense , Jesus showed His followers how to walk in these dangerous times by first not to be frightened by catastrophes commonly associated with the end of times , " Do not be terrified, for these things must take place first , but the end will not follow immediately ." The events of wars , famine, plagues , and portent signs in heaven , " these things must take place first, but the end of times will not follow immediately ." These things must happen because they are part of the prophetic program of the end of time in general , and so are divenly decreed , but they do not usher the immediate end . Regarding the far greater destruction that is coming upon the whole earth 🌎 , those who listen and obey Jesus can escape the horrible destruction of body and soul . Christians ✝️ believers can attest to that when the Jews ✡️ who listened and obeyed Jesus ' Word were able to escape the horrible destruction of Jerusalem in 70 A.D. Reading daily God's Word and meditating on it with the intercession of the Holy Spirit is in a great sense a preparation to stay watchful from getting caught in a snare , a failure from being ready for escape ( 1 Thessalonians 4:17 ) . God bless you abundantly , Brother John Paul . AMEN 🙏 🙏 🙏.

Good morning , Brother John Paul , and Praise to the Holy Spirit to continue its work of intercession to all the readers of the Holy Scriptures . The 144,000 are of Jewish ✡️ heritage ( Revelation 7: 4 -8) , yet they are also clearly believers in Jesus , otherwise, they would not stand or " follow with the Lamb wherever He goes " , and could not be without fault before the throne of God if they were not " redeemed from the earth ." The 144,000 are described as the " 1st fruits of God and the Lamb " because they are the beginning of the greater harvest in that they are the " firstfruits . " They represent the godly nucleus of Israel, which is a token of redemption of the nation . The following harvests of the vast multitude of people on earth 🌎 who will be saved during the great Tribulation , they will be saved in exactly the same manner as anyone today , that is by grace and through a personal faith in Jesus Christ unto salvation . Eventhough the rapture of the Church ends God's dealings with the Church ⛪️ as such on the earth , it certainly does not change the way people come to salvation or become part of the larger family of God , which includes all the redeemed before and after the Church ⛪️ . The followers of Satan and the beast in Revelation 13: 16-17 may have a mark on their hand or forehead , but this mark is just a copy of the idea behind the identifying mark or name " written on the foreheads " of each one of the 144,000 , showing they belong to the Father . The 144,000 are like the young Jewish ✡️ men who survived the fiery furnace in Daniel 3 : 19-25 , they prove God's ability to preserve His people . John goes on to hear the voice of God from heaven " like the sound of many waters and like the sound of loud thunder " , perhaps God spoke here to proclaim His approval of these 144,000 faithful servants in the spirit of Matthew 25:21 : Well done , good and faithful servant ." John goes on describing the voice like " the sound of harpists ...and they sing a new song , and no one can learn that song except the 144,000 who have been redeemed from the earth " , heaven is not the place to learn that song 🎶, it must be learned on the earth . The 144,000 must have learned here the notes of free grace and dying love , and once they have mastered the melody they were able to offer it to the Lord as a tribute of a grateful heart ❤️ , even in heaven , and therefore , harmonize it eternally . Luke's account of the widow's gift 🎁 shows that the value of a gift is determined by what it costs the giver . This is what made the widow's gift so valuable . If God needed our money 💰 , then how much we give would be more important than our heart in giving . King David refused to give to God that which cost him nothing in 2 Samuel 24:24 . Similarly , the 144,000 gave and sacrificed their entire lives in services to the Lamb , therefore following in the same manner that Jesus sacrificed Himself on behalf of all mankind . God bless your efforts abundantly , Brother John Paul . AMEN 🙏 🙏 🙏.

Good morning , Brother John Paul , and may the Holy Spirit magnify God's Scriptures and understanding of it in all your listeners ' hearts 💕 💞 . Today , I would like to quote Saint Cecilia last words about death : " It is relinquishing a perishable thing and receiving in turn an immortal gift.” In her final moments , she asked Pope St. Urban to consecrate her palace as a church so that her home would always be the Temple of God. “To die for Christ,” Cecilia said, “is not to sacrifice one's youth, but to renew it . Saint Cecilia heartfelt words display a contrasting scenery to the reading of today's Gospel of Saint Luke . After running the merchants out of the Temple Courts , for this took place not only at the beginning of Jesus ' early ministry ( John 2: 13-22 ) but also towards the end of Jesus ' ministry , still there was no indication that any lasting reform was achieved , and no doubts the tables were back for the rest of the week , and Jesus took no further action . In that uproar of buying , selling , bargaining , and auctioneering , it was impossible for people to pray 🙏 🤲 . Those who traveled long distances to seek God's presence and mercy were debarred from it by the very people of God's house , the Jews ✡️ . Nevertheless , Jesus continued to exhibit boldness and persistence in teaching and healing daily at the Temple because the people continued to hear Him attentively . These interludes serve a dramatic purpose but also show God's mercy in allowing more opportunity for repentance . It is as if God brought things to the brink , then pulled back a little to grant the Jews more time to repent until the fullness of time in 70 A.D. where Jerusalem was completely destroyed by the Roman Armies and all hope of escaping was now cut off from the Jews together with their liberty of going out of the city . There is nothing in history to exceed this horror , but even this is nothing compared with the destruction of the souls as portrayed in Saint Cecilia last words before her death . Saint Cecilia , pray for us 🙏 . God bless you abundantly , Brother John Paul . AMEN 🙏 🙏 🙏 .

Good morning , Brother John Paul , may the Holy Spirit keep shining light ✨️ on God's Holy Scriptures for all the listeners online . As you mentioned in your concluding talk , Brother John Paul , the plan of the master was not to make money by his servants but to make character in them . The master didn't need them to make money , but the servants needed to work with the master to build their strength of character and endurance during the master delay . The main point of this parable is clear , the kingdom will be delayed, and the Gospel of the kingdom is given to all believers in Christ to improve the salvation of their souls in this wicked system of the end of times , and this is beneficial to all of those ones who listen to them . The issue is not the master 's need for the servants' help, but instead , the servants need to be part of God's kingdom work as to stay awake and alert until Christ 's 2nd coming . God bless you abundantly , Brother John Paul , for all your heartfelt efforts , and your voice sounds much better today . Bless be to God . AMEN 🙏🙏🙏 .

Good morning , Brother John Paul , may the Holy Spirit always continue with your preaching ministry and also with your listeners . In the 1st reading of Kings , God told Elijah that He commanded a widow to feed the prophet even though this woman seemed unaware of God's command . Yet the Lord knew in advance that the widow was prepared to obey His command once it was uttered by the lips of His servant prophet . God indeed chose this particular widow among many famine starving women in Zarephath for more than a miracle . The choice of this woman , while it brought such blessedness to her , involved service along faith . The widow must make the little cake first , and afterward, she shall have the multiplication of the meal and the oil . Likewise , the grace of God does not choose Christians to be idle and yet win a reward for which they have not toiled for . Today the electing grace of God chooses us to repentance , to faith , to Christians service, and afterwards to holiness of living . When Christ was rejected by His own people , Jesus used this example of Elijah's coming to the widow of Zarephath as an illustration of God's right to choose a people to Himself among the Gentile city ( Luke 4:24-26 ) . God bless your efforts abundantly , Brother John Paul . AMEN 🙏 🙏 🙏 .

Good morning , Brother John Paul , may the grace of God continue to guide and shepherd all your listeners of Lectio Divina . The beautiful Archbasilica of Saint John Lateran was originally dedicated to Christ the Savior , and centuries later, rededicated in honor of Saint John the Baptist and Saint John the Evangelist , " Archibasilica Sanctissimi Salvatoris ac Sancti Ioannis Baptistae et Ioannis Evangelistae ad Lateranum ." Sadly enough , two fires ravaged the Lateran Palace, and the Archbasilica deteriorated . There were several attempts at reconstruction before the definitive program of Pope Sixtus V . The twelve niches of the magnificent Statues of the Apostles were left vacant for decades until 1702 when Pope Clement XI and Benedetto Cardinal Pamphili , announced their grand scheme for twelve larger than life sculptures of the Apostles to fill the empty niches . Judas Iscariot was replaced by Saint Paul instead of Saint Matthias . Today's reading of the apostle John showed that Jesus looked beyond the physical existence of the Temple 🛕 for He Himself told the Samaritan woman that there was a day coming when people would no longer worship at a temple in Samaria or Jerusalem , but they would worship God in Spirit and in truth (John 4: 21 -25) . The body of Jesus is still a temple, and the Church is called the body of Christ with a temple built upon and built by Jesus Christ . When Jesus died on the Cross ✝️ , the mockers reminded Jesus of what seemed to be an impossible promise ( Matthew 27:40 , Mark 15:29 ) . Today , this promise is witnessed by all the faithful Christians around the world . God bless your efforts abundantly , Brother John Paul . AMEN 🙏 🙏 🙏.

The farmer sows the seeds then goes out day after day and sees nothing above the soil but knows the roots are growing unseen. Like God, who seems extremely slow with His blessings, and nothing seems to be happening, the roots/foundation are developing unseen enabling us to not break against the devil’s attacks later. Thank you Br. John Paul.

I’ve often appreciated the imagery of building a solid foundation, that when I face trials with patience and continue doing good, I am reinforcing my foundation.

Thank you for explaining the gospel today. I have never really known what it meant. 🙏

Good morning , Brother John Paul , may the Holy Spirit continue with all of the listeners of the truth of God's words in the Bible . Today's reading of the Gospel of Luke , this is indeed Jesus ' most difficult parable because it seems that Jesus was using an obviously dishonest man as an example for His disciples . Yet God sometimes uses evil things that are familiar to us , like war and slavery , to illustrate a particular point . Sadly enough , today , in our modern world , it could be said that it is to the shame of the Church ⛪️ that Coca - Cola is more widely distributed than the Gospel of Jesus Christ . Certainly , if Christians pursued the Kingdom of God with the same vigor and zeal that the children of this world pursue profits and pleasures , it would not be said that the devil's scholars are more studious and earnest than Christ ' followers . God bless your earnest efforts , Brother John Paul , for I am an avid listener and reader of your daily talk of Lectio Divina . AMEN 🙏 🙏 🙏

We must empty ourselves to service but I’m comforted in knowing that Jesus also needed rest after the crowds took so much from Him, He slept during a violent storm on the sea, Jesus's many decisions to rest, pray, and take time alone show that he was aware of his limits and practiced self-care. When I have nothing left to give, I need to be alone to “recharge.” Going beyond our limits to exhaustion is not healthy. Thank you Brother John Paul for these commentaries. You are doing a fantastic service.

For me, it was a woman who had fallen down while walking. I would not mention it other than here and now. A Christian could not do otherwise ❤

I agree. Your deed done with great love is approved of in Heaven. Sending you a hug.

Another time, I think he was homeless, a man boarded the bus and while several people moved to the back because the smell was overwhelming, I was determined to stay in my seat and yes, he sat right beside me. With very shallow breathing and prayers, I thanked God for a home to go to and running water to wash. I have numerous opportunities to “love” my neighbour.

I once stopped to greet a homeless woman downtown on my way to Tim Hortons and asked if she’d like a coffee too. “Yes,” she replied and “Can you get me a sandwich too?” So off I went and returned with her coffee, a sandwich, and a box of Timbits. She was grateful and I was humbled. I have so much.

Instead of “loving” my neighbour, I’ll change it mentally to, “I find delight in that person,” or, “I take great pleasure in that person riding the bus with me,” then I’ll try to find something positive I can dwell on instead of how annoyed I am by their behaviour.

I know that my Redeemer lives…that I shall rise again. I grew up with that song sung at funerals. Scott Soper sings the version I know.

As you previously stated, being full of “awesomeness” is not my way to Heaven, I will strive, with the intercession of the saints, to see Jesus in everyone today.

Me and Jesus are on the opposite ends of the speed dial. I’m on fast and He is on intermittent slow. But I do believe He knows best and I need patience. I will pray that your commentary is anointed so that all who listen, will hear what they personally need. Amen
