Is the earliest radio interview with Sinatra known to survive?
Hello -- I don't know the answer to your question. It is the earliest one I have heard, but there may be others conducted at an earlier date still extant.
Wow🎉
I have cassett of Frank's 50 birthday album that Tina didn't think would sell but it's beautifull have u ever heard itcoveris gold siletteof Frank onright hand co rner I seem to be only knows about you should have
Great add Mr. Mahoney
Thank you.
We've all heard Frank Sinatra have a few vocal glitches during his concerts over the years. But this particular instance is so striking, it's impossible to miss. I can imagine how it must have thrown him off for the rest of the song. That's the beauty and challenge of performing live-anything can happen.
Superb quality and wonderful selection of songs. Thank you for this treat, James.
Thank you. Glad you enjoyed it.
I recognized this immediately from his voice crack in the beginning. Brilliant performance otherwise. Thanks for sharing James.
Hi James, do you know if there's any audio recording of Irving Cottler speaking?
Wonderful, thanks for uploading.
Grazie
Entertaining show.
FS with his voice in superb shape! Authoritative versions of All of a Sudden My Heart Sings and How Deep Is The Ocean!🤩
Ooh that speaking voice sounds much like the Frank of 1963, just a guess tho lol Hope you’ve been well, James. You’re a gem
Thank you Aaron.
Im sure somewhere out there in America in somebody's garage or attic, theres a copy of this that theor grandparents recorded
Reminds me alittle of Sinatra’s high speed “my blue heaven.”
Fantastic❤
This evening..pull this up..historical times. .songs and memories. Go down and up memory lane. .born 1952. Appreciate legendary times. Criss cross continents. Hear frank Sarah or tony Bennett..love in my river...hear this evenings glow. Thumps up...a brother in philly. .speaks the blues .
Sinatra should NEVER have entertained this butcher of a leader. Under him and other despicable communist leaders, some 50 million poor souls were starved and murdered for not bowing their knees to atheism.
😊
Its rock in roll Sinatra was fantastic
La voce è sempre la voce
I always wanted to hear this show
Yummy
This is crazy fast.. Very interesting 👍
Frank Sinatra, born December 12, 1915, was only 31 years old when this program was broadcast. Johnny Mercer was born November 18, 1909 and was 37 years old and has already composed many great songs..
Wonderful song!
Beautiful song from a time when popular music could be beautiful without being mocked. Thank you for sharing this.
La musica di oggi viene giustamente derisa
A wonderful song in great quality! One more: thank you, James
Beautiful song. Thank you for sharing, James.
Amazing, never heard it, thanks for uploading.
You're welcome. Glad you enjoyed it -- always nice to hear something "new" by FS.
@@jamesmmahoney Indeed, I wished that all the repertoire would be public, but shamely it's not the case.
I love this song and rendition so happy to see you shared this for everyone else to hear. Thank you James for this in wonderful quality as well.
Thank you. Glad you liked it.
He had a wonderful voice until it got old due to his smoking and drinking after the 70's.
Excellent recording, James, I appreciate it. This narrows it down to just four instances where Sinatra performed “That Old Black Magic” and it ranked at number 3: 1943-03-20, 1943-04-10, 1943-04-17. 1943-05-08. Keep on your joyful work, all best, Andreas!
One of my favorite songs it does reminds me of a girl from Fla I knew
Funny Ric Ross a good friend.
This is a treasure. Especially Time After Time. Thank you for posting.
THE Hollywood bowl??? How many people turned up? I mean must not of been Alot since it was 1948 but still. The Hollywood bowl is huge
This was the fourth in a series of annual Music For The Wounded benefit concerts held at the Hollywood Bowl. The concerts consisted of classical and popular music as well as comedy acts. It's likely, given the cause (raising funds for the wounded veterans of World War II), that all of the concerts were sold out.
Awesome, thanks for uploading it.
Fantastic share, thanks for uploading James!
Interesting points he was making here about the low quality of pop songs being partly because all the good writers were "doing picture scores" and Broadway. Back then many of the great songs came from Broadway and the movies, rather than simply being a "pop" song, so different from today
Great rehearsal, thanks for uploading.
Good song selection and sound quality. He sounds natural and serious without an excess of ‘40s hep talk.
Wonderful, thanks for uploading.
Paul Compton - the best.
Wow! Thank you for this much needed interview
Simply Stunning!
Wonderful rendition for this wonderful song, thanks for uploading.
Amazing, thanks for uploading.
Jeez, JM gave FS a run for his money on the mic!
Such a great interview ❤
