Join me as I take on the Tour Divide, a 4,300km unsupported bike race that will test you in every way imaginable. The Tour Divide follows the GDMBR and Continental Divide across Canada and the US, and explores some of the most beautiful places in North America, but that doesn't come without challenges. Thank you to Hunt Bikes and POC for helping to make this journey possible, having a great tea...

Walking On A Dream - A Pacific Crest Trail Film
Переглядів 222 тис.2 роки тому
The adventure that changed my life... In 2022 I thru hiked the Pacific Crest Trail and made a film to share my experience. The places I got to see and the people I met are something I will cherish forever. Thank you to all the strangers, trail angels and other hikers that made this journey what is was. I have always been a lover of hiking and the outdoors but this trail made me feel a way I hav...
Really gorgeous film! really really beautiful. What camera gear are you using? Kind regards from Denmark
So impressive! Way to go man, what a show of mental, emotional, and physical strength and determination!
Breathtaking journey. I felt your emotions when you made it to the Northern terminus. Great job young man.
Marji 😈
A question for you... You finished... held the bike up at the sign for pics... and then what? What does one do at that point? There's nothing down there, yes? Are there folks who come and ferry participants back to civilization or do you have to turn around and ride back however far yourselves?
Good question! Absolutely nothing down there... it's about as empty as it gets. A lot of people with have someone pick them up or there is a guy semi local who offers rides for money. I think a few people turn around and ride back but not too many from my knowledge
@@JackScottkeogh Gotcha. Thank you for the reply! And amazing job finishing that route. Looked brutal.
Congratulations. Thank you for sharing this journey with us. Each one of these I watch makes me feel like maybe someday I too could make this effort. All the best.
Amazing! Well done 🎉
I watched Jack’s documentary video on UA-cam about his experience on the PCT Trail. Gotta watch it!!! Incredible!!!
So this is what total freedom looks like…Stay Wild!!!!🌲🌿
What song is 26:06
Amazing job❤❤
What a beautifully edited movie this is! I loved it from the very beginning to the very end. Thank you for sharing your one-in-a-lifetime adventure with us! It definitely serves as motivation to do the PCT. Many thanks dude.
@@kosarob8 thanks for the kind words mate! Glad you enjoyed it. It’ll be the best thing you ever do… get out there
Thanks for sharing your wonderful journey!
Epic 🤙
Absolutely amazing video Jack - My wife and i have watched it like 3-4 times already. We are planning on starting on the PCT in 2026. Curios to know if most of your shots are taken with the A6700 or with the DJI pocket? I have an A4 myselv, but not sure if i should get the Osmo Pocket 3 as well.. Got any good suggestions?
@@VoresRejser glad you guys enjoyed it! I chopped and changed honestly, I did a lot on my Sony sometimes and then sometimes it was all Dji. If I did it all again I’d take the same combo but focus a lot more on nice shots with the Sony rather than just vlog everything. In saying that, I do think the new DJI is pretty insane and you could probably just run that if you want to pack lite
@@JackScottkeogh Awesome - thanks for your quick response and for taking your time.
#red ...
Dude, almost all I watch in this video is your face
What an amazing experience, Jack. Thank you for sharing the magic with us. Bri
Great Job! I’m sure it’s in the comments. Sorry if it’s been answered. What GPS device did you use? Thank you!!!
@@MattDavis-e5s no worries mate! Not sure exactly which one you’re referring to but for my gps/plb/tracker I use a Garmin inreach mini 2 and for my bike gps/computer I used a wahoo element bolt v2
@ Thank you!!!!
This is inspirational to say the least. Great ride, and fantastic footage. Thanks!
This was fantastic! How did you backup your footage on trail? Did you bounce an SSD along the trail? How much storage did you need for all your footage? Hoping to record a thru myself in the future :)
Thanks! I actually just risked it and took a bunch of cards with me and had a good waterproof case for them. I think I went through about 4 x 256gb cards but it's all dependent on what camera/s you use etc. you may need more or less but you can always just order more online to a trail town. Original plan was to upload to a dropbox from my phone when I was in towns but the net was never good enough
@JackScottkeogh Interesting, I was thinking of bringing an SSD & a data hub to backup straight from the cards to the SSD, but camera gear is already a significant weight penalty.. Suppose I could double down on SD's to have every card backed up, but that's an expensive backup system.. Thanks for the reply :)
@@ApiaryGaming SSD would be a great idea! My little Samsung ones are so small I’d never notice the weight. I’d do that next time for sure and still not wipe the cards just in case.. it’s a gamble for sure not doing it that way, even is like 1/5 cards fails or gets wrecked then you’re losing a huge chunk of the hike which kind of ruins a video. Not sure if there was some splitter you could get in your phone that would take a SD card and a USB C slot for ssd at the same time but I’m sure there’s something out there
@JackScottkeogh yeah super risky without it, as you said you'd be missing a huge section of your film. There are compact data hubs but they have very slow transfer speeds. I've got an Anker one with good transfer speeds (sd reader built in, and plugs into phone and ssd simultaneously) but its like 150g Can maybe fashion one out of an sd reader and a Y splitter cable that would be more lightweight, I'm not sure
@ I’d just run the 150g one, will be worth it for sure
SUPER SUPER SUPER SUPER everything is SUPER! 🙄
Absolutely stunning footage. Thank you for sharing that journey with us. Incredible work. I've been getting into bikepacking and have been going through different gear trying to find what might be best for me. Is that the POC thermal Lite Jersey? I've been looking into POC and GoreWear.
Epic Video thx for sharing your experience
You did inspire to do something daring
I've watched this 6 times this month, it's a heartfelt story. Please post the soundtrack :)
Loving this wonderful video. Very inspiring man!!! Watched it a couple of times already. I also document my bike rides in the Philippines 🇵🇭, nothing close to this one. I can imagine all the hard work spent to this excellent film.
@@ianhow thanks for the kind words mate! I actually rode a lot of the last week with a buddy from the Philippines! Great country
what was your food plan, i saw you found random gas station with spagetti o but was there more to the planning?
not much of a plan, each day I would look at what the next day or 2 might look like. Id just stock up at gas stations accordingly or the odd time there was a subway on the route
Certainly super hard but claiming as the hardest race on earth is click bait. Apparently according to those who have done this and the Tour Te Waipounamu in New Zealand this is easier.
Crack on! So good man, love it.
You said you pictured yourself walking across the bridge of gods. Must be absolutely incredible to manifest something so beautiful and great then see it come to life in front of your eyes and feel the moment. This is what life is for. Great job
Hey Jack can’t wait to watch this on the weekend. Sparkle Lizard ✨🦎✨
Amazing video.
Beautiful music and beautiful smile. Definitely emotional. Had me crying. Just so beautifully captured. ❤
Don't give up your day job
Nice vid! Did you only have 2 bottles of water??

Awesome video
Fantastic! Job well done
Thank you so much for this amazing, delightful documentary. It has such a wonderful, positive vibe. I wished I could have stayed in it for longer. Also, amazing cinematography, editing and music. I’m going to have to go back through and add a bunch of songs to my Spotify. Thanks and best wishes!

WHO IS WATCHING WITH ME IN SEP 2024
Me, don't know why, I bloody hate bicycles, but I'm here, and enjoying it so far
Watching in October
Its November now lol
Not me
🎉
Awesome video nice work and congratulations!
Bro, absolute pleasure to witness you battling through the elements, psychological barriers etc. What an accomplishment, appreciate you documenting it, a lot to take from this video, both for cycling and just general human capabilities.. Right on 🤙
Did you realize you were stalking Eve or was it subconsciously? I can only imagine how uncomfortable that was for her.
Eve? If you're talking about Courtney, that's my partner and we hiked the trail together haha
I hope he stalks me forever 😍😍
Crazy how people can watch the same thing and come away with wildly different interpretations
herbalife- and hope was a good trip
Having that many people around just simply kills the joy out of doing something like this. I could not imagine hiking with a big group or even wanting to see that many people on trail
Stick to bushwhacking videos then.
"The Hardest Race On Earth"... that's a rather bold claim isn't it.. I'd argue this is *not* the hardest race on earth.
I don’t believe there are “generic” brands off amazon. Was Poc stopping you from namjng the brands? I ask bc it seems you were happy with the waterproof gloves. Sweet bike btw.
@@hoser7706 oh no genuinely they were the first out that came up when I typed in waterproof gloves on Amazon, I’ll find the name of them for you. They’re not super waterproof but they at least they warm. POC actually have zero requirements for me in terms of what I can and can’t promote
@@hoser7706 this is the exact listing name on Amazon “RunningWinter Gloves for Men Women Touchscreen Waterproof Windproof Anti-Slip Warm Thermal Gloves for Cycling Driving Running” and they cost me $12aud
Epic Jack, your gritty determination is inspiring. What bike light were you using?
