In 1998, renowned pianist Elena Bashkirova founded the "Jerusalem International Chamber Music Festival” in Israel. Today, the festival is one of the country’s most important cultural events. Its program of world class musicians from different nations and religions makes it a symbol of international cooperation, and sets an example for tolerance and understanding between different cultures.
In 2012, Ms. Bashkirova brought this celebration of cultural exchange and musical excellence to Berlin.
In 2023, Intonations found a new home at the Kühlhaus Berlin, a listed industrial building in the center of the city. The festival brings together promising talents, members of top international orchestras and famous soloists such as Gidon Kremer, Emmanuel Pahud, Ivan Karizna, Dorothea Röschmann, Pablo Barragan, Nathalia Milstein, Diana Tishchenko, Madeleine Carruzzo, Tim Park and Georgijs Osokins to share a cultural dialogue and the love of chamber music with one another and its audiences.
