Hello Andy, this is a good question. When the DC power cable is connected the device will always charge when a Qi-enabled phoned is inserted. If you remove the power cable it will obviously not charge. But then the smart touch sensor to open the mount will not function either. It is possible to open and close the mount manually, but this would make the mount an ordinairy phone holder. Best regards, "This guy"

Luis arevelo - give it some time , bet Uniden drops their price when Whistler TRX100 & 200 hits market, and the ICOM IC-R30 is a superior receiver out of the box for $599.00, even if it does NOT trunk track.

By most user reviews, no. Very sturdy feel.

Uniden should have used Fiber Reinforcement plastic for its Shell, more durable. A lot of Digital Cameras use FR plastic.

Doubtful, want All the Digital modes Get a Whistler TRX-100 / 200 NXDN and DMR for FREE.

If you want it to actually Trunk Track in those modes, plus the option to scan ProVoice, get a Uniden.

even a SDS100 with Upgrades cant Receive CW, SSB, D-star (and HAM Digital ), yes it can Receive DMR with PAID upgrades.

why would you buy an AOR DV-10 when the SDS-100 will be the superior product?

FACT - the AR-DV10 can receive More frequency range and More Digital modes than the SDS100, its also a very sensitive receiver without overloading on Nearfield signals. the Only thing is does NOT well is Trunking, it can Still tune trunking frequency and Demodulate them , just NOT track them. NOT a deal breaker for me as I already have about 3 Digital Trunking scanners that I had upgraded. the AOR had the Worlds Fist receiver than can Decrypt Analog encryption the 8200 Mk series, I have a Mk3.

Looks like a very nice scanning receiver. $1100. No trunk tracking. And, no, nothing is decrypting analog encryption. 8200 Mk 3 ($720) with a Voice Inversion Card ($105, available only to government or export) allows you to listen to analog transmissions that are using voice inversion, which is not encryption (under the government's definition as well as the industry).

revadan - yes, Whistler looks like the one to beat, Whistler gives you Digital modes for FREE. Uniden hides NXDN and DMR among others behind a Paywall.

IROC TWAN - SDS100 is as generic as you can get, the New Whistler TRX-100 &200 scanners offer more with Free NXDN and DMR.

I don't know, Mark. I mean to each his own, but the Unidens are actually trunk tracking where as Whistler does not. I like my TRX 2 but I also like my trunk tracking Unidens.

DrKO2453 - I don't know what you mean, I have a Whistler 1080 and it Trunktracks just fine. I even upgraded it to DMR. all current scanner from Whistler should Trunktrack but they may NOT call it that.

The Whistler scanners won't be released until Q4 of this year. You have no idea of the final specs of the TRX-100 and 200. I will probably also purchase the TRX-100 in addition to my SDS100. However, your brand loyalty is clouding your thinking.

In the 1970's Radio Shack was the store most people gravitated to and I could hang out in one just checking out all their radio gear. Back then they offered a lot of different models and usually had them hooked up and working and you could try them out but over time Radio Shack changed dramatically and now they're gone.
