Disciples Church (Calvary Chapel Leatherhead)
United Kingdom
Приєднався 19 чер 2017
Disciples Church (DC) is part of the Calvary Chapel family of churches. DC started in 2007, as a gathering of a dozen people in Leatherhead. Matt Kottman and his family were sent out by Calvary Chapel Twickenham to start Disciples Church (then known as Calvary Chapel Leatherhead). In 2012 we changed the name of the church to reflect our passion - to follow Jesus as disciples and to live out the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20), which calls us to be disciples and to make disciples.
A disciple grows to be more like his Master. Thus the Bible, is studied and preached in our gatherings. The Word of God reveals the God of the Word, and it is him we desire to behold. Knowing Jesus more truly means we follow Jesus more fully. We are disciples. However, the role of the disciple is to point others to the one they are following. It’s been said that a Christian is one beggar telling another beggar where to find bread. As followers of Jesus, we aim to point other people toward the one we follow

Which of the 500+ versions and countless translations of this biography is the right one?
@@thatfiredawg thanks for the comment. I suspect you don't trust the Bible is a reliable book, is that right? Have you looked into this for yourself, or are you going with 2nd hand opinions? Here is an intro to a series of videos that address the issue by a specialist who recently debated Billy Carson and also interviewed with Joe Rogan ua-cam.com/video/LEPivzLht7E/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared
@ you didn’t answer the question.
@@thatfiredawg that's because it wasn't a question. We can read the original Hebrew and Greek if we want, online or at the British museum, for example. But generally the Bible is accessible to all, in each person's language. In fact, it is the most translated book in the world with over 700 languages of the whole Bible and over 2500 languages for parts like just the gospels. The Bible is also the best selling Book in the world. Why would a 2000+ year old book be so accessible and in demand? Is there something to it? Maybe you should check it out! We're happy to help answer any questions. If you prefer you can contact us by phone or email. Our website is discipleschurch.co.uk Blessings.
@ It was a question. Let me clarify, there are around 500 different VERSIONS of the Bible. This doesn’t include the language TRANSLATIONS. There is a difference. This doesn’t account for lost scripture or content that was omitted. It’s vapid to think that someone hasn’t studied or read the Bible because they ask a question about which version you lay upon your nightstand. Honestly, it shows more about your faith than mine.
@ I apologise, I should not make assumptions. Can you point out 2 or 3 versions, out of the 500, so I can look into it? Thank you.

Brilliant! So, so true.
You’re absolutely right, Sir. Every single topic can and should lead back to His Gift of Redemption. It’s the core essence of our message. God bless you.
There is only ONE CHURCH in this world and it is 2000 yrs old. ALL the rest are denominations.
@@Anon.5216 thanks for your comment. We agree that technically there is only 1 church but we would not exclude those who belong to denominations. The final judge belongs to Jesus: Matthew 25:31-32 “When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit on his glorious throne. Before him will be gathered all the nations, and he will separate people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats... May we all be found amongst His sheep on that day. This sounds a lot like you're saying we should believe in christ to avoid being punished by his dad, which doesn't sound like a great sales pitch for religion. If anything it seems pretty vengeful of a supposedly benevolent god to punish people so severely for what amounts to nothing more than a slight lack of faith
Our God is love, true. And He is also Holy and Just. The Bible says that the “wages of sin is death”. That is what we deserve. Death. Because we have all sinned. Our best deeds are filthy. We are fallen, deeply fallen and broken. In His love, God could not stand to lose us, and He provided a way. His only Son took the punishment we deserve and gifted us with eternal life. The Father sees us wearing His Son’s righteousness. Pure. Holy. Like Him. Not because of what we’ve done, but because of what He did! That is grace and mercy beyond what we can imagine! To receive this gift, we must repent! There is no other way. This is what it means to believe in Him. Repentance is changing of mind. 180degree turn. From loving sin to hating sin. He can do all this for you if you let Him. Repent. Jesus said this Himself 🙏🏼
Hi @@R0BL0W thanks for making a comment. It's hard to understand after only watching this small clip, did you try to listen to the original video? It will explain things better. Alternatively, have a look at this page discipleschurch.co.uk/the-gospel-of-jesus-christ/ I can see someone already replied with an explanation, and I think they did a good job. Please let me know if you have any other questions or if you would consider visiting. Blessings
@@DisciplesChurchUK if Christianity were everything it promised to be then it wouldn't be hard to understand at all. We'd be born knowing about it. It wouldn't be necessary to have it explained
@@R0BL0W that is a great point! I think you are right, in fact the Bible says that we are all born with a conscience and so when we lie we do it with the knowledge that is bad, right? When we act like we have the right to define the value of life, "act like god", we know it's wrong and arrogant, right? When we look at the level of intelligence that exists in DNA, and the mind-blowing complexity of the universe, we really have to agree with Einstein who said: there must be a lawgiver who sets the laws of the universe"! So really, we are without excuse, we should all believe in God, but, the Bible says, we hide the truth because we love our sin. Read Romans 1 and John 3 in the Bible. How about you? What do you think?
This is the best sermon on tithing and giving out of many I have heard.

Wonderful testimony Samantha. Thank you for sharing. All praise and glory to God Almighty. Anne
God bless this wonderful church
well, since Jesus IS God he didnt actually need to have any faith, since he knew. But who cares, its all a made up anyway.
Hi, thanks for commenting. So I take it you don't believe in Christianity, but is it that you don't believe in a supernatural creator (God) in general, as an atheist, or something else?
@@DisciplesChurchUK "God" is a very human concept. Whatever is true is most likely way beyond human comprehension. All religions are quite obviously made up as well... a conclusion you can easily reach if you just look at the information available with honest eyes. But most people will just *insist* upon their faith, despite the only reason for them to believe it is because they were born into it.
Amen! 🙌 Hallelujah thank you Lord for your faithfulness ❤

Jesus debunked pretrib rapture 2,000 yrs ago, amen... John 16:33 kjv These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. John 15:20 kjv Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also. Jesus prayer: John 17:15 kjv I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.
Hi, thanks for commenting. So you believe in Jesus, and that He is coming again, but you disagree with the timing of His return we are suggesting? Are there other things you disagree with?
@@DisciplesChurchUK Even apostle Paul debunked the pretrib secret rapture 2,000 years ago, amen... Acts 14:22 kjv Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God. Romans 5:3 kjv And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; 2 Corinthians 12:10 kjv Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong. Romans 8:36 kjv As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.
So your understanding is that the church will go through the great tribulation and be raptured at the 2nd coming (post trib)? Or do you understand something else?
@@DisciplesChurchUK You have to believe the words of Jesus and not the words of men :) John 6:40 kjv And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day. John 11:23-24 kjv Jesus saith unto her, Thy brother shall rise again. Martha saith unto him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day. compare that to what apostle Paul said... 1 Corinthians 15:52-54 kjv 52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. 54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. verse 52 --> the dead shall be raised (Jesus said at the last day) verse 53 --> mortal to immortality (clearly speaks of the resurrection.... at the last day) verse 54 --> no longer affected by death ... read previous passages... 1 Corinthians 15:25-26 kjv For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet. The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death. The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death :) so how can there be a rapture prior to the tribulation when the anti-christ still bussy creating chaos on earth during the great tribulation??? that's pretty clear to me...
Thank you for taking the time and diligence to answer. I'm sure you understand that if it was clear and obvious there would be not argument about it. So there must be a level of complexity in this issues, and others similar to this, that causes serious Christians to disagree. I don't know you but I will assume you are serious about your faith and you hold a high view of scripture. I think what you are saying makes a lot of sense and you might be right in your understanding. I know and respect many people that share in that same view. The pre-trib view also has it's logic and many respectable Christians understand it to be correct. Here is a in-depth article that explains the view. I hope you take the time to read it and let me know your thoughts. tms.edu/educational-resources/journal/archive/why-a-pretribulational-rapture/
Jesus show us how to live day by day, by following the law, but christian throw all the law of jesus, then create their own law..
Hi, thanks for your comment. Do you have a specific example in mind? And also, when you say "Christians" do you mean every Christian does this?
@@DisciplesChurchUK basically christian is the religion of Paul not religion of Jesus, so christian is actually following Paul not following Jesus, and as the time goes christian starting to lose their identity
And where did you get that information from? How do you know that is correct? Have you read and studied the new testament to be sure for yourself?
@@DisciplesChurchUK isnt it obvious? Since Jesus didnt do or give example or teach to what christian do today, then we know its not from Jesus, Jesus follow the moses law not christian law, if he really wanted to change the law, then for sure he will do it and give us example on how to do it since he is the perfect example, and since when the law is changed? Since Paul preaching to the people other than the Jews, he start to change the law and create his own teaching to attract people interest for his own political gain just like balaam did..
So are you part of a group? Hebrew Roots maybe? Your view is not very common, I don't think. As in, I haven found many people that think as you do. I'm curious to understand you better. Would you like to exchange contacts?
If Jesus is god. And god is Jesus. Then why doesn’t Jesus know when the day of judgement will come??

Cult
Hi, thanks for commenting. All views are welcome. Would you like to expand on your comment? According to the Oxford dictionary a negative definition of the word cult can be: "a relatively small group of people having religious beliefs or practices regarded by others as strange or as imposing excessive control over members." Is that what you think we are?
@@DisciplesChurchUK yes - the language in that video challenges people to believe they're part of a literal other world which will save them from eternal torture. To be clear I think Christianity in general is pretty cult like but this one stood out
I wonder what put you off Christianity so much. Did you have a bad experience? I know there is a lot of wacky stuff being done in the name of Christianity out there, but you can't throw the baby out with the bath water. Have you looked into what Christianity is all about?

This has always troubled me. As I see it before Adam and Eve ate from the tree of good and evil they couldn’t understand the difference between the two. So couldn’t have known what they were doing was wrong. God deliberate made them ignorant in this way then punished them (and us) for their innocent actions. What a disgusting thing for god to do. God made them, god put the temptation there, god knows the past, present and future so knew before he even made them that they would “fail” his immoral, unfair test. Yet he went ahead and made them anyway. Sounds pretty evil to me. Not to mention that the Serpent told the truth while god lied to them. Would you agree?
Hi @michaelbedwell6175 thanks for sharing your view. It can be a bit confusing to read or know about a story without understanding it's context. That happens to us in every day life, as they say, we get the wrong end of the stick 😁 Here is a short article that will help you understand that story better www.gotquestions.org/know-good-evil.html Please let me know if it helps. 😎
@@DisciplesChurchUK context is key I agree. But the bible claims women are inferior to men, that you may own slaves, you may beat your slave, your slave is you money you can pass them onto your children, that homosexuality is an abomination. It promotes so much harm and discrimination. There is no context in which any of these things are acceptable. The fact that you think I’m missing context is incredibly ignorant and sad. You should feel ashamed.
@@DisciplesChurchUK both you and this article have completely missed the obvious. Adam and Eve didn’t know the difference between good and evil before they ate from the tree. To punish them would therefore be immoral and evil. Yet that’s what god did. Does god know everything? Past present and future?
We read and study the Bible from cover to cover and so we come across those subjects and many others. If you are open minded and are interested in understanding we would be very happy to help but if you have made your mind up already and there is not telling you otherwise then I rest my case. We also encourage every christian to ask the hard questions, no one should believe blindly, harbouring doubt or even shame over these or other subjects. Our conscience is clean and we have intellectual integrity because we are diligent to look into these things. I know that not all religious groups do this but we can't speak for all people of faith, we are individuals, like you. Stereotypes are not helpful.
@@DisciplesChurchUK I’m absolutely open minded and would love to hear what you have to say. If there is enough evidence to justify changing my mind i always do. I follow where the evidence leads not where I want it to go. From my experience it is the religious who have made their mind up and no amount of evidence will change it. I’ve read the part of the bible we are discussing and it seems quite clear. I’m happy to hear your interpretation but without evidence to back it up that’s all we’d be arguing over. How we both interpret a story in a book. If I can demonstrate any flaws in your thinking, fallacies you are using or problem’s with any evidence you present would you offer me the same courtesy I’m offering you and change your mind?
No one killed more living beings than this god guy....btw jesus was beaten, tortured, mutilated and nailed to a cross, THEN finally died
Hi. Thanks for your interest and comment. Are you saying that you believe what the Bible says about how Jesus was killed? Can you clarify who you say killed the living beings? Thanks
@@DisciplesChurchUK this god guy, killed everything on earth except 2 of each animal.... More ridiculous fantasy, 16 million animals on a wooden boat 😂
Oh I see, you are referring to the global flood in Genesis 6 to 8. Have you read and studied the account? Or are you dismissing it because of how "fantastic" it is? Genuine question. I felt that way also before looking into it. It seems so farfetched, such a massive catastrophic event and yet so little detail... But without properly looking into it we judge the book by the cover... If you are interested this article is worth checking out answersingenesis.org/the-flood/
@@DisciplesChurchUK 😂 yup avoid my comment, the truth, hard to believe anyone praises such an animalistic, cruel, and evil " god"
