Minimal gauge railroad 11 15 24
This video is a little update on my minimal gauge railroad in my back yard. I didn't get much work done on the railroad over the summer, I was too busy with other projects. Still, I did manage to get a little bit done.

I haven't made a video in about 4 months so I thought I would make just a quick video with my phone. I haven't made a model kit review in a while because I still don't have a decent camera that can do short focus and track the focus properly when I'm moving my hands around. I'm still working on that and I hope to be able to get back to that soon.
Model Kit Review GAZ M 415
Переглядів 1185 місяців тому
This video is a look at the 1/48 scale kit for a Soviet Gaz M 415 pickup truck. This truck was basically a licensed copy of the late 1930s Ford pickup truck. This truck started production just before WW2 and continued into the 1950s. This model was made by Ace Models of Ukraine. This is one of the few models that I know of for a late 1930s Ford type pickup truck in 1/48 scale. I bought this mod...
Model Kit Review, Fokker DR-1 Triplane

It's been a while since I uploaded a video, I finally got around to making another model kit review video. This video is a look at the Revell 1/72 scale kit of the WW1 German fighter plane, the Fokker DR-1 triplane. For information about the actual Fokker triplane, used in late 1917 and into 1918, here's a link to the wikipedia article. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fokker_Dr.I My channel is not moniti...
Model Kit Review, 3 Entex 1 72 Scale WW1 Airplanes
Переглядів 1478 місяців тому
This video is a review of 3 small 1/72 scale WW1 airplane kits, all made by the model company Entex. According to Wikipedia, Entex Industries was based in Compton, California, but the address on the model boxes says Carson, California. Entex Industries was formed in 1970 and lasted into the early 1980s. The company originally made model kits and Lego-like connectable toy bricks called Loc Blocs...
Model Kit Review, Fujimi "Toon" Ship, Aircraft Carrier
Переглядів 2959 місяців тому
This video is a review of a recent kit made by Fujimi of Japan. This is a kit for a WW2 type aircraft carrier, but cartoonized, much like the Meng toon tanks. I believe this is a press together kit, mostly not needing glue. I can't really tell you much more about this kit because all of the writing is in Japanese and I can't read it. This would be a fun little kit to put together and display. M...
B 24 Model Kit Review

This video is a review of a vintage Revell kit of a 1/72 scale B-24 Liberator. I believe that this model kit was produced in the late 1960s, the box has a copyright date of 1964 on it. The instruction sheet also has a copyright date of 1964. The B-24 Liberator was a WW2 American 4 engine heavy bomber. Built by the Consolidated aircraft company, it had a wingspan of 110 feet, a length of 66 feet...

This video is a demonstration of a vintage guitar amp that I worked on recently. This is a 1959 vintage Supro guitar amplifier. The Supro amps were made by Valco, a company that also made amps for a couple of other brand names back in the days of tube powered amplifiers. This amp has a 10 inch speaker and puts out approximately 20 or so watts when turned up. The Supro amps were not as well know...

This video is a review of the 1/72 scale model of the WW2 era Douglas C-47 Skytrain twin engine cargo plane used by the Allied countries to haul cargo, troop transport, paratroopers, and even for towing gliders. This is a re-upload of a song that I uploaded several years ago. I edited out some of the introduction to the song so the video gets to the start of the song right away. This video is a look at the plastic model kit of the WW2 era U.S. Army Waco CG-4A glider in 1/72 scale. This kit was made by Italeri in Italy. The kit that I review in this video is a relatively recent production kit. The Waco glider was built in the U.S. and first flight tested in 1942. STILL a good kit. Nicely detailed. The only thing I don't like about it is the way Monogram tackled the engines. Would've been awesome if both nacelles had the full engine with or without the removable panel. I did just see today though that HobbyBoss has a 1/48 P-61C which you can't build OOB with this kit!

I got a Mossberg .410 pistol grip "Cruiser" shotgun in 1991. The model number is different from the later models 50455. Mine is 50335. It has a single action bar and mine came (used) with an extra full length butt stock and Cardura cloth case for $125. It shoots 2.5" and 3" shells reliably and interchangeably. Sighting is easy as I can use the top of the safety as a rear sight or just line up shots with the front bead and striations on the action top. My favorite load is the 2.5" Rexio buckshot loads. Swell video though a helluva way to make pumpkin pie. What make is your M1 carbine? I have a Plainfield (Dunellen) M1 Carbine that I picked up in 1993.

This Revell Fokker Triplane model looks incredibly similar to the Aurora model I built as a kid back in 1958. I was crazy about WWI aircraft and built almost all of Aurora's WWI planes from this DR-3 through to their Fokker DR-VII and DR-VIII "Flying Razor." Also SE-5a's, SPADs, Nieuports, Pfalz and their ultimate - their Gotha bomber. Great memories as a 6th and 7th grader! My greatest WWI.models were the larger size, super detailed Revell Fokker DR-3 and SPAD. Those were astounding. JJS

How far up did you drill your drain hole?

    • @amberyooper
      @amberyooper 7 місяців тому

I drilled it just below the level of the shelf inside the bucket. You want to get as much water into the reservoir as you can, but not so much that it starts to saturate the dirt sitting on the shelf. The idea is to have the water wick up into the dirt from the hole in the middle of the shelf instead of flooding the dirt at the shelf level.

Well, it certainly doesn't have the fine molding and PE parts that people expect in their model kits these days, but pretty much anyone can build this kit and get decent results. Also, the kit is roughly 60 years old and the model kit industry has changed a lot in those 60 years and gotten a lot more fine scale with most of it's kits. I just review these vintage kits for what they are...

Just completed this same kit and was impressed with the accuracy and level of detail in the form of moveable control surfaces and very fine RECESSED panel lines that rival some of more modern "trenches". Turret glazings are chunky, but cockpit and nose glazings acceptable with coat of clear floor wax. The very prominent navigator's dome is horrible and I replaced mine with a cut-down vitamin gelcap. Better, but too tall. I love taking an inexpensive(!) old kit and seeing how I can bring it up to an acceptable level.

I built this kit back in the early 70's. It needed quite a bit of cleanup in order to fit it together. I gave it a basic paint job using brush paints but never use sealants due to the limited skills at the time. I no longer have it due to my little brother taking it to roof of our house and tried to make it fly. It did not. I now have this kit in my stash and , after seeing this video I might dig it out and build it for old time sake.
