I really enjoy this piece, it feels like something that would be playing during a pivotal scene in a visual novel! (I mean that in the best way, I promise) I can just see it now, the game hasn't had animation this whole time and this particular cg is full of falling leaves and laughter while this song plays, making for a memorable moment.
I like the ideas you explore here, you're right on the nose calling this akin to a ghibli tune, the way the piano wanders around a melody while repeating motifs fits right in, and I LOVE the way the intro/outro lets the notes ring out.
