I've found her webs don't need to touch to connect (if that make sense) there's a minimum distance that still allows the tracking mines to travel along them towards an enemy. This helps increase the additional webs coverage. Also, creating a horizontal line or total coverage along a choke point with mines hidden (and nest connecting out of sight) in them locks down a place. Only way to counter is for 3 heroes to charge towards the hidden nest

Bad guide. Ignore everything. You do not get a health boost from extra webs. You should only be playing with your healers if you're facing a heavy dive comp that they're struggling with

I’ve been playing a good amount of peni. One advice I can give is to throw your mines into spots you’d think people will run through to retreat. And also spots were the flank will need to run into to get to your flank. I’ve gotten a lot of just random kills doing this

This is a nice guide! Some things to add though: - Moving her nest is always a good idea, but moving it too much though can prevent you from building up much damage, though when playing Peni on offense just plopping her nest on the backline is usually enough to freak everyone out and cut off healing for a short second, which I find to often be long enough for my teammates to secure kills. - Always place 3 stacks of mines, you can have up to 15 mines that last 60 seconds (22 with ult since you get 7 mines that don't count against the 15 max), and 3 is all you need to kill in most situations. If you're tying to kill tanks use 7 (9-11 for groot), but tbh you should be using your mines for the back lines, since that's just better value. If you're ever sitting at 4 mines, just chuck one since a bad mine is always going to be better than no mine. - SPAM. HER. RIGHT CLICK. It's so good, and on top of canceling ults, it also acts as a shield while flying midair, and can block bullets or projectile ults! I've killed many an iron man by shooting my web so that their ult detonates in their face! - Always stay in the webs. The 150 shield you can obtain (with up to 100 regen per second, since each web gives 25) does NOT give the enemy ult charge, so using her shield to soak some damage can be a good way to apply pressure while giving the enemy nothing in return. Also it never hurts to just have 150 extra hp. - And last, people are going to tell you that Peni is ONLY a defense tank, but the issue isn't that she can't play offense. Its that the way you play Peni on defense and offense is just fundamentally different, and you need to learn BOTH playstyles. Diving the backline with cyber-bond is very easy, and also gives you a very easy way out. I usually dive backline, plop the nest to freak everyone out, and prep a mine trap or two before dipping out. Using this I can almost always break up an enemy defense and send their healers to high hell. If you ever struggle playing against 3 healers, Peni is one of the best counters IMO.

You've said something similar before, but the fact remains: while the original wasn't perfect, it's the reason the remake even exists today. I highly doubt that any modern game developer-especially Bloober Team-could create Silent Hill 2 from scratch on their own. They merely gave the original a facelift while diluting it for a modern audience that demands a more simplified experience. I enjoyed it, but there wasn’t a solid 10-20-minute stretch of gameplay where I didn’t scoff or roll my eyes at something Bloober either overused or watered down.

I'm worried about Metal Gear Solid Delta for similar reasons. I just bought a Japanese copy of Silent Hill 2 to play on my modded PS2. It's good to play the originals.

OG is a masterpiece but i like the remake better. Both are different approaches to the same story. I feel like remake James' performance brings the narrative to another level and surpasses the original and its more surreal feel to the characters. The facial expressions and realism in the remake help intensify key moments in the narrative and make them more impactful. just because the gameplay is more fast pace and dynamic when in combat, doesnt mean it doesn't approach the same "deep and nuanced topics" you vaguely refer to. That's just my take. I will always go back to the original for different reasons than the remake. But i enjoyed the delivery of silent hill 2 narrative better in the remake. Sue me liberals.

Like I remember when RE4 remake came out people said it was "Objectively better." I knew it was going to happen with Silent Hill 2 so I just chose to ignore it. I like Remake but it's not without its problems. The most glaring one being how AWFUL it runs on every platform, but people seem to not talk about it that much for whatever reason.

I absolutely love both games. I think the remake did a very good job in how it brought such an iconic psychological horror into a new generation. There is one thing I will say is an absolute improvement in the remake, and that’s Angela’s story. Especially the boss fight.

First off.. at 9:02 not everyone that likes the remake is like this, and secondly 9:10 this statement is just incorrect and highly subjective. Though it’s true not everyone would want to do this, for people like myself who are recent fans of silent hill 2, I absolutely would. I’ve seen edits of the original, a play through of someone who wanted to get the plat trophy from the original game, I’ve heard details and concepts that existed in the original from people playing the remake, who referred to them because they no longer exist in the remake, and have even watched clips of some of the original scenes in comparison to the remake. I’m saying all of this because aside from playing the remake 4 times now, getting all the endings, trying to see things I’ve missed and understand the lore better, I would still go out of my way to play the original. Why? Because I think they’re both great. My issue.. with old fans.. is they’re seeing things through a nostalgia stand point, and this video in itself, though you try very hard to be fair, is proof as well.

What would be cool for a remake is if the gameplay was exactly like the original like resident evil 2 3 still had the fixed cameras same for silent Hill to and it was practically just the same as the two remix we already have but the gameplay reflects that of the original but with a few exceptions if it's like too hard for some players like a setting

dawg the OG is a PS2 game, there are so many limitations on that thing, but what sold the game and franchise is the story and atmosphere. considering PS2 graphics were popular as shit for the last 2 years, this game was bound to be more popular than ever. honestly, the remake is really REALLY good, but i find the OG to be darker in atmosphere, and they both feel the same, def the same vibe, but the "uneasiness" (intentionally) captured on the OG makes it "perfect" compared to the remake, but its understandable why the remake didnt do that, to be user friendly for first timers lol.

Unfortunately i could never enjoy the OG SH2. I loved SH1 and 3, but i legit did not understand the story of 2. After watching lore videos around SH, i eventually went down the rabit hole of 2. Hot dang is that game's story an absolute masterpiece. The remake let me enjoy the story, while also being a "new game". I had already played the OG, and was disappointed at the time because i didnt understand it. The remake is an absolute win for me, but I understand some of your points

Picked up blasphemous from the steam sale because it people said it was the best metroidvania in a while. Game is annoying as shit hard and clunky controls. I mean i hate games with controls that feel like there's imput lag. Like I'm playing a streaming game service or old NES games. I have to relearn and account that I need to hit the button 1-1.5 seconds before I want to make the jump, parry, or attack.

I love Silent Hill 2 and the Remake but I never needed to have watched David Lynch or Twin Peaks to appreciate the series. You legit sound like an insecure "Video Essay Loser" making the series sound like a crappy, experimental, art film.

My man Adam I grew up playing games with tank controls and had no problem with tank controls but never got around to Sh2 because I was too scared as a kid. I’m grown up and I’ve played both games now. Very sorry to say man but me and the vast majority of people believe the remake is miles better😂. The og level design isn’t near as good and the game gives u way too much ammo. I just never once was really scared in the og. The remake fixes this and gives u way less ammo. The monsters are actually a threat too and u can’t just run by them everytime. Og is still okay but the bloober literally took the job and made everything better.

I agree that the new one is better, however the new one couldn't even crawl without the old one existing as source. I also feel the same with the Re2, Re3, Re4, and REmake 2, 3, and 4. I played the OG Silent Hill 2 and RE2, 3, and 4 when I was quite young and again when the Remakes were announced. I played both the Remakes (Silent Hill 2 and REmake 4) this past month and I was really impressed. There are some things in the new ones that I'm not a fan of, Silent Hill 2 suffers from Playstation syndrome. But overall, I am more favorable to the new ones. With all that said I will still say that I personally enjoyed the old ones more, but the new ones I feel are better.

I played the remake first and since then I’ve played 1 and 2 and the old ones in my opinion are scarier. The low fidelity graphics, Dutch camera angles, and tank controls a way more oppressive than a fresh coat of paint and you have a lot less control over Harry and James.

I love how they always claim the remake is such a superior product even though they didn't play the og and most likely didn't even play the remake and even though everyone on all social media platforms STILL uses the old sounds and scenes and songs when they talk about Silent Hill because they're just that iconic. The only thing they ever use from the remake is the gameplay because it's more in line with games nowdays. One time I saw a person on tik tok saying how good the voice acting is in the remake while using an audio from the original... If that's not telling I don't know what is 😭 Also, I just started playing the original after I got it for Christmas and I gotta say the remake never made me feel anything as strong as the first few seconds of the original and I noticed that they stretched the remake out SO HARD, probably because people nowdays want all of their games to be 50 hours long. I also love that now that I've platinumed the remake and have played a bit of the original I can argue with morons who haven't played either game who blindly hate on the original bc they just dislike older games. This reminds me a lot of the RE4 remake, which I hate, especially when compared to the original, which I adore. When people finally realise that new doesn't mean better I will finally be able to rest, especially since good, old games are usually a product of their time and modernizing them inevitably makes them worse 🙏 Edit: I forgot to mention I really like the loop theory and now that I've played some of the original I don't think this is just a thing they invented for the remake, the best example I can give right now is those notes found near that dead body when you first arrive in Silent Hill. The body looks like James and the notes were obviously written for the James you play as. I always thought the loop theory was a good one, the remake just sort of outright confirms it in a way that the original just doesn't.
