101 Years Old and Still Doing This. The Inspiring Baxter Carr.
I had the opportunity to spend time with Baxter Carr on and then following his 100th birthday. I filmed a few videos of him, including this episode of the Discover television series. It was the time after we had done what we needed with that camera that I truly relished. That's when I had the opportunity sit, listen and learn. In the short time I knew him, I found him to be a remarkable human. Many others have said the same.
Baxter passed away a little over a year after this story, at 102.

    @Dave Parker Why use unnecessary music? I write this to raise awareness. Too many people have disabilities ADHD, PTSD, AUTISM, ASPERGERS. There’s ESL English as a Second Language and varying levels of intelligence that may need to focus more. Senior citizens aquire difficulties focusing (Captain Ice Cream is the best example). Every hearing aid commercial states that they have difficulties separating the voices from background sounds. If your goal is to attract the most viewers possible, then you are defeating that purpose, and limiting your audience. I have given up trying to watch videos that do this because it’s just too torturous. I will click in the right hand column, “don’t recommend channel “ because of this. Hollywood worked this out ages ago. Do you have background music on your television news? Financial shows? Serious talk shows with heads of industry or heads of state? Hollywood only uses music to move the plot forward in dramatic movies and films. If you miss a line it’s less important. They don’t play music over extended narrative either. Did your classes at school play background music or your college lectures? No because it is a distraction from the content. I only saw this horrible fad begin when people started making their own documentaries and videos. That’s when amateur editors got started. They forget we’re here for the spoken words. If I want music I’ll go play what I want to hear. Any readers of this comment please spread the word to content creators you know or that do this. Thank you for your attention to this important issue. Blessings

      @daveparker1910 27 днів тому

      Carol - hello, and thank you for this comment and your bringing awareness to the groups you mentioned. Most content you will find on UA-cam or elsewhere is subjective regarding style, delivery, script, etc. I'm assuming that most people who are creating that content do so in a way with which they feel either furthers the story, or that they simply enjoy. You asked the question, "Do you have background music on your television news?" These stories air on three CBS affiliates in Virginia, so yes, they do.
