    Are you saying that diverse populations mostly don't graduate from high school?

    "Put the pressure back on them." !!! This isn't combat, it's therapy! This is really unethical. Looking for the easiest thing for you to do is not what your agenda should be.

    What do you do when you paraphrase a client but the client responds very simply by validating you got it right and then waits for you to prompt a question. So simply put what do you do when the paraphrase fails to keep them talking?

    • @annabondaruk4583
      @annabondaruk4583 Рік тому

      Maybe it was more like summarizing or your paraphrase sounds more like a question or request for validation, or too long and sounds like a statement.

      You can stay silent and give them space to respond. Sometimes it's okay for them to be uncomfortable. Or follow with a "tell me more..."

    Why would a high school student not be encouraged to look at careers that interest them and to think about where they are now, knowing that they will change as their life progresses?

    To whom much is given, much is required tends to ring through my entire being. I have to admit, this and the two other video's I've watched on ACA Code of Ethics and the responsibility of the Counselor has got me nervous. I'm not changing my mind about this profession, I'm scared enough to give it my best. The fact that Ethics and the Law are not synonymous is disappointing.

      It can be scary, especially at first. This is one of the good things about the licensure process in most states for mental health counselors - you are required to be under supervision for a certain number of hours before you can practice independently. Take advantage of that level of support while you have it!

    I liked this video a lot. in my clinical lab when we practice with classmates I noticed that I have a hard time when my "clients" are very chatty. The last role play I did I rewatched my video and noticed I let the client talk on and on an on... it was quite frustrating.

    Is there a good book you would recommend on social cognitive career theory? I would like to read a book in-depth of this theory. I have been trying to find good articles, but finding a hard time. Thank you!

      There are quite a number of academic journal articles that provide a good summary and indepth view of this theory. Check those out.
